this stuff is on tape- why doesn't stern get involved, and warn him not to pull this crap.

I think the refs noticed because it was a double technical- but really, they should have just given Garnett one.

Because Stern is an even bigger douche bag than KG. Stern is the one who turned this league into the starphucking, prima donna loving shmoozfest it has become. Refs are complicit in this by turning a blind eye to MANY of the BS little things stars pull on the court. Nothing new here. NBA is not just about the game of hoops, it's more about the entertainmnt industry need to create personalities that transcend the game. Make's ya wanna holla, throw up both your hands!

1.) Oh how things have changed. Is garnett more physical then mason, oakley and starks? Is he more of a pain in the ass? How many times did the Oak tree "accidentally" catch someone with an elbow. What a difference a generation makes.

2.) Garnett in my mind is a lunatic and a jerk on the floor. But he's doing this to get in his opponents head and its obviously working. Instead of crying and running to twitter, be a man, deatroy him on the court, confront him on the court, elbow him on the court. Tattling on him on twitter is embarrassing to me. I guess its a generational difference

“I am aware there was a major miscommunication regarding something I said on the court last night, my comment to Charlie Villanueva was in fact, ‘You are cancerous to your team and our league.’ I would never be insensitive to the brave struggle that cancer patients endure. I have lost loved ones to this deadly disease and have a family member currently undergoing treatment. I would never say anything that distasteful. The game of life is far bigger than the game of basketball.”

Great fabricated statement.

While I am no expert on the linguistical footprint that is KG but it seems this statement which was released and not verbal would appear to be written by somwone with a gift. While KG has many gifts, construction of a statement with such clarity would not be one of them.

DO I believe this statement? No.

Does it matter? No.

KG is a basketball player not a statesman. He is not a role model nor has to even pretend to be one.

He is a true bonehead. Charlie is a bone head also. He should have left that statement on the court and not created a public trail of sorts. If he was truly offended he should have made a true statement by putting his fist into his jaw, take the suspension and just said "KG Said somthing so messed up, so over the line I just snapped". Refuse to repeat it.

THen show some drama the next day that since your at odds repeating it but since you "paid your debt" to the league you repeat it.

He'd be hero of sorts and KG labled further the douche he is.

Charlie didn't commit by Tweeting.

And why does Paul Pierce get emotional about 20k points and the "hard times" he put in. Dude had a nice run with the SHimmy man and then some lean years where he was untradable making serious max money.

Is there a more self absorbed duo in the league than these two?

No, not Lebron. On court the guy is not a whiner or arrogant like Pierce and KG.

I'm a little guy that often times is guarding much bigger players. These guys hate when a small guy battles them. They are used to throwing elbows and having the smaller guy backdown. In my younger days I would catch an elbow and whine to the refs and my coach(if twitter existed back then, I'm sure I would have posted there). All the whining I did did not make the elbows go away, they actually increased because guys knew it affected me. It wasn't until I was whining in a timeout huddle about the elbows when my captain(my idol at the time and still today) looked me dead in the eye and said "so elbow him back then". It just made sense to me.

This lesson has never left me. To this day, I am not a dirty player. I'm polite, I don't elbow. I say sorry if I do something accidental. I'm so nice on the court that people think that I'm a sissy. I'm okay with that. But I tell you my simple rule. The first elbow, knee, shove I get is a freebie. I'll make believe it was by accident and ignore it. The second one I get turns into open season. You get me twice, I will not stop until that game is over. Everytime the ref turns his eye you will get hit. Nothing to hurt you or knock you out of the game, but definitely something that as it accumulates it will drive you mad. I don't apologize, I don't talk trash, I don't cry to the refs about it. I simply will not stop until that game is over. If a guy complains and tells me to stop I know I've won. If he threatens to fight me I don't get in his face. I don't scowl. I don't put up my fists. I walk away. Many think it's because I'm afraid. No, I'll fight if I have to. But in a situation like that, I'm clearly winning, so no need to fight. I just walk away with my blank stare and the elbows and the trash talk to me magically stop. I've noticed now that guys that have played against me numerous times go out of their way not to touch me because as they say "I am insane". I've found over my years that the guys who throw the most elbows tend to back down the quickest by the way. It's the quiet guys that "are insane" that never back down. Crying on Twitter means you are afraid. Relentlessly dominating on the court and handling your business there, means you are not. So in the end, I win. I didn't have to cry about it. I don't have to complain to anyone. I handle my business on the court and all the funny stuff stops. No need to run and tattle on Twitter.

The reason no one knows if Garnett is tough or not is because all these sissies today cry and moan about it, but no one ever stands up to him. Also you'll notice that Garnett normally is in the face of a small guy, or a reserve. He doesn't mess with the Shaq's and DHowards of the world. He may talk to trash to them, but the chippy stuff seems to go away with them.

I agree with you, but again, I say, how do you know he didn't send him a few nasty elbows to the gut for this? If he didn't, then he's just being Tim Thomas vs Kenyon Martin part deux.

Garnett may have said something like "look at you, you're a cancer" which has a bit of a double entendre.

If Garnett's point was that if CV played as hard for rings as he does for sympathy he'd be better basketball player, I'd say he's got a point.

And this is where it stands. Garnett is the poster boy for the rude, fiercely competitive champion, and CV is the poster boy for soft hurt underachieving tattletale whiners.

I'd take Garnett on my team every day of the week. Big bully that he is.

except oak, mase and starks were all legitimately tough and did not have reputations for picking on smaller guys. i know what you're going for and i generally agree, but i think it's a bad comparison.

i think what KG said was in bad taste. and even if CV broke an unwritten code of silence, i'm glad he aired it out. doesn't matter to me whether CV is tough or not since he's not on our team. i think our team is plenty tough and KG won't be pulling those antics against us. i'm just glad KG took some bad pub and that his rep may have taken a hit. i can't stand the dude.

I know Charlie, and he did nothing of the sort. But you are right, I could be wrong. Regardless Twitter should not have been involved. This is sports. These guys say some nasty stuff to each other. Even some of the guys you believe are sweethearts say some nasty stuff in the locker rooms and on the floor. Charlie has to be able to handle it.

As for what Garnett said. I think they are both classless. If he said it to me(no matter which statement) I probably would have tried to teach him a lesson. But that stuff still would remain on the floor. Could you imagine what would happen if every football player started posting on Twitter every mean thing another football player said.

Allan remember this?

Steve Kerr-On Jan. 18, 1984, Kerr(Steve's father) was murdered by Islamic militants for the crime of running that school. Two nights later, Steve cried before tipoff and then delivered his best game as an Arizona freshman, making five of seven shots against Arizona State.

He played to escape the pain. He even played the night an ASU crowd hit him with a sick chant of "PLO," sending Steve into a 20-point first-half rage.

Do it on the court!

That's my whole point. The reason Garnett gets away with it is because no one ever does anything about it. They whine and cry but nobody does anything. So even if Garnett isn't tough, he's still tougher then all the guys that let him get away with it. Do you think KG would have gotten away with any of the stuff he does now, while playing against the Knicks back in the old days? Wouldn't matter if Garnett was picking on Brad Lohaus. Oakley, Mason and Starks and Ewing and Harper all would have gone after him. We would have found out in a real hurry how tough he is. But today it's different. He gets away with excessive trash talk and chippy things becasue nobody stands up to him. They whine and cry and complain. But Stern can't do anything, because nothing he does is really all that bad or dangerous. It's not like he's clotheslining Scottie Pippen or anything. He's doing little things to get under people's skin, and those players are proving it's working by crying on Twitter. So it will continue.

They were also chanting "where's your father" and "go back to Beirut". Blows what KG said out of the water. It was classless by ASU but the response by Kerr was awesome. He was so businesslike. No middle fingers, no mooning, no Twitter, just daggers in his eyes. I'm pretty sure he was a freshman at the time and crying before the game. But he handled it like a man.

I actually remember watching a TV segment about that a long while ago. Those string of games are what put him on the bball map which led him to be drafted, am I correct? Because before that, he wasn't really doing anything real noteworthy besides for maybe his coach and teammates and possibly the fans, but I doubt that with the fans.

I agree with what you say though. I'm just more so criticizing KG in this thread and not saying "Oh poor CV." CV definitely didn't handle this well. If anything, say something equally f'ed up back. "Yeah well it took you Ray Allen, Rondo and Paul Pierce to get you one single right because God knows you didn't do **** with the T-Wolves, so go F' yourself. "

You and I agree. Regardless of whether KG called him a Cancer patient or he actually said the watered down "your a cancer to...", they are both classless. We almost all know someone that has gone through this horrible disease and it's just not a direction you should go. I would have been okay with almost any other response by CV, short of really trying to hurt him physically.
