I don't think we'll need Anthony Randolph to be a big time scorer. What we will need, is a Tayshaun Prince/Andrei Kirilenko type defender.

and the dude loves to block shots, he really does. MDA lets his players gamble on defense, always has. This is kind of stuff I was eluding too about AR, his size, freakish length and athleticism and how his value will far exceed his stats. I mean what if he averaged 12ppg, 8rpg, 1.5 steals and 2.5 blocks in 30 minutes a night off the bench while shooting 48% and playing great defense? I would say thats the start to something great.

Having watched his vids and some full games, I think this is his max potential. Which there is nothing wrong with that - but 12/8/2 is not untouchable or a Star.

Its really hard to break old habits..I mean as much as we wanted Al and JC to change there ways, as much as they wanted to change themselves and said all the right things, they continued to play selfish ball....AR passes the ball has some decent ast #s..but I seen this kid take some BS shots cosistantly.

Yes he does. I think Anthony Randolph is one of those players who thinks he's much better than what he really is. I hope he doesn't read this board. LOL

Also remember that this is a player that we're looking at when he was 19 and 20. Obviously immature early on. Shot selection and bad judgement kind of go with the territory. I really don't see these as insurmountable problems yet. I think we'll see if he's starting to mature this season. I think even he would tell you that he wasn't always acting in a mature manner early on. This could be the start of this young man finally "GETTING IT". He was getting better last year before he went down.

I expect that he'll be more like 16/8/2/2 with 30+ minutes a game.

Im not in love with stats because I see young guys put up stats on losing teams around the league. If Randolph isn't contributing toward wins then who cares.

what if he's a lock down defender? What if he's a guy you stick on the other team's best player and shuts them down? What if he wins first or second all NBA defense?

You just dont know. He's got the physical skills to be a star. It will come down to his heart, but he's a pretty intense guy

You see guys getting 3, 5 & 8 Blocks a game around the league? 2, 4 & 5 asts games from the PF spot? Man you need to go back and look at those numbers again and think about it for second. Those flashes are scary good. He just needs to develop a bit more consistency and you're talkin about an All Star here. Remember he was just starting to get consistent starter minutes at 20 yrs old. He's undoubtedly going to get better, stronger and more relaxed as a pro. I laughed at the kid when he got dunked on and pouted, but I also realized he had talent and was intrigued about the idea we might trade for him. I had no idea it was gonna actually happen. I thought Nellie would come to his senses or someone there would step up and stop him from trading the kid. I'm glad no one did. AR can be all that Odom was supposed to be and more, cuz he's got fire in his belly.

Oh he's gonna get a chance! This the kind of versatile kid MDA LOVES! People think he created a great role for Diaw. I'm positive he wants to find ways to use AR and his skills. AR is amazingly slippery for a guy his size and with such great athletic ability he can be dominant if he wants to be.
