Is Fernandez worth trading Chandler for him? Absolutely not. Chandler's a better player than Rudy. But I'm not that enamored with Chandler that I wouldn't include him in a deal for Paul, Melo or Mayo.

You know, I guess this 'Knicks have offered Chandler for Rudy' bull has done exactly what I presume Portland intended it to- completely changed everyones perception from the reality of yesterday morning (i.e. Rudy has no value and said he will not play in the NBA ever again and won't even turn up to the Blazers training camp) to the current fantasy that he actually has high value- a good player or a mid first round pick, and that a deals imminent. Really, we've just been played as we always are- if any team or player is worried about their value, then just release a rumour that the Knicks are about to sign or trade for them, and the rumour mill goes wild and drives up their value, making it look like there's a market for them when there isn't.

Just remember everyone:

1) Rudy has ZERO, repeat ZERO value- he stunk last year and is refusing to play for the Blazers or any other NBA team

2) What teams did have interest in him early in the offseason were put off by the Blazers ridiculous demands and have MOVED ON- Celtics signed Von Wafer, Bulls signed Keith Bogans, and Knicks signed Mason Jr. These are the only 3 teams that said he was willing to play for, and he said he'd ONLY accept a bench role with the Knicks.

3) Blazers claim that they will only accept a mid 1st round pick and a good player is BS- they tried trading him to Twolves (obviously Kahn must have heard Donnie was trying to get him!)- they claim they were offered the 16 pick (And no player might I add), but Rudy refused to play for them- in actual fact the deal was Martel Webster and Rudy for picks 16 and 23, since the webster for 16 went through, that means all they were offered was the 23rd pick AND NO player- thats what they were willing to and did accept. It's complete BS that they've been offered Chandler and it's not good enough- it's just hollow posturing.

4) Walsh won't trade Chandler until he knows what's going on with Carmelo- what kind of fool would diminish their chances of getting Carmelo in order to overpay to get Rudy?

Yes. Right now the Blazers have no leverage. While I would like the Knicks to get Rudy, I totally agree that the Knicks need not sweat it. Wait out the Blazers.
That said, the Blazers would be wise to let Rudy go to Europe, play well, and grow his value. Will they be that patient? Dunno. Can't hurt the Knicks to try calling their bluff.

I am not sure what the rush is to give away a 23 year old who averaged 15 and 5, can defend, block shots, and play three positions. I think the Knicks regret Chandler for Fernandez for a long time if it happens.

I would trade Chandler for Fernandez. Fernandez was a star in his old league... I think today, right now, Chandler is better player. I think Fernandez's upside is far greater than Chandler's though and I also think Chandler is a better fit on today's roster

Just say no. Chandler is better than Fernandez now, and it is only wishful thinking that Fernandez will be better 2 years from now.

where is the word coming from that folks are "obsessed" with fernandez?

yes, the season before he demonstrated some real skill, but his value is low now.

buy low, sell high doesn't seem to make sense in this case because chandler's potential is not worth turning away from in a straight up deal for someone like rudy.

that being said, rudy could be useful for our team, and if you could net him in a fair deal i'd do it.

not really sure who that would be, but i also would like to see what the team can do, unless it's for someone like melo, before making any more moves.

i think the mayor deserves a shot to return this year.
