Great deal for the Pacers, amazingly stupid move for the Hornets- they should have kept Collinson as insurance in case they lose CP- or at least got a much better player than Ariza. Good move for Rockets too. I don't understand the trade at all from the Nets perspective- wouldn't of minded Murphy as a one season back up on our team though (only for his shooting and rebounding- I'd only of offered Curry)- don't see how he fits into the Nets plans.

I don't know- there must be more to this trade, surely- it doesn't make that much sense as it stands.

Yeah, giving up Collison for Ariza is just a bad trade. If that is all it took, we should have offered Chandler (who IMO is a better player than Ariza and is younger). NO should have at least have gotten a draft pick out of the deal.

The Hornets, Rockets, Pacers and Nets are on the verge of a four-team trade, according to a report from Chad Ford.

Darren Collison and James Posey would be sent to Indiana, Trevor Ariza would go to New Orleans, Courtney Lee would go to Houston, while New Jersey would receive Troy Murphy.

The deal is in the advanced stages, according to sources.

Collison & Posey for Trevor Ariza? that's horrible! we couldn't have made a better offer for Collison than that? that's a joke.

The question is were we willing to take Posey and send Chandler to New Orleans? Probably not.

of course not, that's cuz we're still in a damn holding pattern until Melo decides where he wants to go... we're passing up on a great young PG talent like Collison because we're too scared to take on any more longterm salary, which to me is ridiculous.

I would have done that trade in a heart beat. Then I would have packaged Posey with TD or Walker, $3 mill, and a future draft pick to get him off the cap to make a run at Melo. Collision is that good and he would be our longterm solution at the PG position.

Not only is Collison the best asset that any of the teams got, but he's a point guard and talent at that position is worth a premium, not a discount.

looks like the Pacers might be the Knicks' new competition for one of the last few playoff spots.

The east is loaded with power forwards and the Nets needed an established guy. I think moving Lee will let Terrence Williams fill in at the 1 and 2. I think Williams will be a great player. If Favors turns out to be the player he projects to be, the Nets can let Murphy walk and get the cap space after this season.

I like Williams as well but I'm not too big on his passing ability. But they got a nice little group over there. And don't forget Damion James off the bench.

Interesting read by David Aldridge as to why these 4 teams did what they did.

It was Collison AND Posey for Ariza. Posey's salary at $6.4 mil this year and $6.9 next year vs Ariza's salary $6.3 this year and then incremental raise for the next 3 years. Ariza is only 25 years old and New Orleans has him for 4 years. He should be a good fit with Chris Paul, West, Okafor. Then New Orleans needed a SG and added Marco Bellino as a back-up SG. So NO is trying to put a team around Chris Paul to keep him happy.
