I feel Bosh is on the same level as guys like :

Rose-presently
Gasol(Pau)
Joe Johnson
Arenas
Boozer
Granger
Kevin Martin
Baron
Parker
Pierce

And he is a step above guys like:

Kaman
West
Lee
Ellis
Iggy
Manu
Jamison
Rip
Josh Smith
Gerald Wallace

Mosst of your list is reasonable but I don't think any non-Knicks fan would put Amare ahead of Pau and I'm sure the Lakers would laugh if you tried offered swapping the two. Pau is an amazing passer, very good rebounder, and good shot-blocker. He also has a health advantage. I think almost any team is would be willing to get only about 18 PPG (Pau) rather than 23 (Amare) if you can get significantly better passing, rebounding, and shot-blocking from the 18 PPG guy. My guess is Bosh and Amare are about a tie among non-Knick fans in terms of performance when healthy but the majority would give the edge to Bosh once you consider injury history.

Not me. I never really wanted him from the start. I thought he was overrated for a couple of years now, and have come to realize that his defense is just as bad as David Lees, which I have been pointing out. Even before free agency.

if we had signed him, would you have been upset about it? i wouldn't have, & he wasn't tops on my wishlist either... i'm happy we got Amare, but i would have been happy if we got Bosh too... i think Bosh is easily one of the top 5 bigmen in the league.

Bosh is a great player, but he is soft just like James. The only person on that team with the killer mentality is Wade.

That's not to say I think the Knicks are the better team.... obviously that would be a ridiculous claim

It will be interesting to see how our teams match up. We are more balanced... They have the superstars.

I remember people called Gasol soft as well, prior to him winning a ring with Kobe.

There was a lot of talk this year about him working out after the Boston loss two seasons ago, and he did look bigger, IMO.

Gasol can do more things and is the better player in terms of making the other guys on his team better.

I would have been very happy with Bosh in a Knicks' uniform, but I would rather have Gasol and what he brings to the mix.

I never liked Bosh, and I said so many times before this played out.

I actually think Bosh's numbers are going to suffer by FAR the most of the big 3 in this situation. LeBron and Wade are still going to want to get theirs, and they will be handling the ball the overwhelming majority of the time. Its hard for 3 guys on the same team to put up big numbers. Wouldn't surprise me at all if Bosh morphs into a 14 and 10 guy because hes not going to get his customary 16-17 shots a night nor shoot his 8+ FT a game. There are only so many possessions in a basketball game, and only so many shots to go around. I don't think LeBron is going to be happy scoring in the low 20s or high teens, nor is Wade.

Somebody on espn radio yesterday was talking about Miami having 3 of the top ten players in the league. I'll give you lbj and wade being top 3 in the league. But for me Bosh is more of a top 25 type player in the NBA, behind many players such as durant, gasol, dirk, d rose, paul pierce and others.

LOL, come on now................ stuff like this is just shameful. You know damn well Bosh would be top 5 in your ranking if he was a knick. Gasol before the Lakers won 49 games once and never played a playoff game, Bosh is twice as good as Gasol.

Bosh might not be top Ten to some, be he is definitely in the convo.

wrong. go look it up.

the Grizzlies from 03-04, 04-05 and 05-06 were some of my favorite teams over the past decade. they won 50, 45 and 49 games and did it by running ten deep and having a running, athletic team coached by Hubie Brown.

i actually think that team might be a good comparison for what the Knicks are able to put out on the floor this season.

as far as Bosh... he's going to be a monster with Wade and Lebron and Miller spacing the floor. there's no denying it. he'll get the easiest looks in the league.

you don't gotta like a player to acknowledge his talent... he's not 1 of the top bigmen in the NBA in your estimation?

He may be, but I really was not keen to see him in a Knicks uniform, and am glad we got Amare instead.

i'm glad we got Amare too, but again this has nothing to do with whether you wanted him or not... i think had we signed Bosh there wouldn't be anyone complaining about it on these forums either the way they might have for instance if we had signed Joe Johnson to his max deal.

A few predictions here:

1. Bosh does not make the All-star game. (Amare starts, Boozer or Hortford as the backup at least at PF anyway)
2. Bosh will be a league leader in offensive fouls. (Teams will recognize he is the weakest link of the big 3 and get charging violations)
3. Bosh will have trouble getting any sponsorship deals unless he gets one of his man-handlers to come along for the ride(Lebron or Wade).

Personally... I only wanted Bosh if it was going to net us James. Amare is the better player in my opinion.

I think the bar was set so low for so long that we would've been thrilled with either player. I think it's fair to say that Amare is better on offense and Bosh is probably the more balanced player. People may be happy about Amare because it's fair to say that we have a good idea what you're getting from Amare in a D'Antoni system and Amare is probably a better fit for that system. Don't forget, there was a lot of talk that if we had gotten Bosh + Joe Johnson that we still weren't that great a team. I, did take those as shots at Bosh, as well as Joe Johnson.

Of course, if you're simply reflecting on human nature, well it's probably a good sign that the fans on this board are giving a boost to Knicks players, because that hasn't always been the case. In recent years, Knicks fans have downgraded Knicks starters into being end of the bench guys, solid Knicks role players as being not fit to be in the NBA at all, etc... If there's a slight wind going in the other direction for a change, I think it's a good thing.

As for me, do I think Amare is better than Bosh? Tough call. I think Amare will have a better season than Bosh, hands down, though.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

the Miami Thrice is a lock for the all-star game.

and much more, sadly.

That's an interesting angle. I really hope NY, specifically success in NY, nets Amare some nice endorsement contracts. As magnificent as he was, even Ewing was overshadowed in this regard. I don't want the legend of NY being a place for athletes to make bank to turn into myth. I want future FA's wanting a piece of the action.

i happen to agree that Amare is a better player than Bosh when he's 100%... as far as who will have the better season, Amare will have more of a chance to put up stats not having to play next to 2 superstars, but Bosh will probably have a very good season simply because the team isn't relying so much on him to produce... either one of them would have made a nice fit for an MDA offense IMO... but the real thing i like about Amare is his nastiness under the rim, something that Bosh doesn't seem to have.

I'm Sorry, but Bosh is a top 5 big man in the league, pretty easily actually. 24 and 10 is no joke.

I'm just a bigger Amar'e fan. One because yea, he's a Knick and Bosh is not. And another, I just feel that Amar'e just brings much more toughness to our roster, and he has swag that Bosh lacks.

Stant Tall and Talented baby.

Man, all three of my eyes are on the refs on how they call fouls against the Scheme Team(TM) this season. When you have a team out there with a bunch of stars, that's more players on your team who may get that "star" benefit from the Zebras. No Donaghy.

Remember, there are three teams running on the court: home, away, and the folks in the slacks.
