Would Lin, as an undrafted player, fall under any salary guidelines for rookies if he signed a contract with an NBA team, like us?

It is my understanding they do not and are free to negotiate with whomever for whatever they are willing to pay. He could get good money this way instead of being tied to a salary scale.

Looks nice. If he sticks with Dallas he would be behind Kidd and Beaubois. Prob wouldn't get any playing time. Would seem to fit in nicely with Knicks.

I think they still have Nick Calathes stashed away in Greece for the time being too, no?

I'd much rather have Lin than Calathes.

Jeremy Lin *earned* a payday with his play against the same competition Rautins faced. No excuses required. Lin is a John Starks like prospect

pretty dedicated to be pursuing a role on an NBA team after you go undrafted when you could probably have your pick of any job you wanted in the corporate world... i hope he gets a chance on a roster this year, the dude has game... wouldn't mind for the Knicks to sign him up
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

If you are a member of the Boston Celtics, and you play summer league, you'll be on Boston's team. If you are not currently signed to any NBA team, a team might just sign you for their summer league team, and you're trying to get signed to a real, regular season NBA contract from any team in the league, including the team that you're playing summer league for.

He's up for grabs... we should sign this guy.

The Knicks will not do it-- there is tremendous ego in the front office and they will NOT be giving up on Rautins anytime soon--even if they know full will there are better players like Lin out there.

there is also a tremendous amount of patience. Good thing

He's a steal or a player---I hope NYK management can do something right here--we did not have a great a draft and i think this player would improve things quite a bit.

GIve me a break! All they showed you in the video highlights was his his offense.

Dude can't play if his life depended on it. Thats why teams are not to thrilled about him. His defense is equivalent to luke ridnours. pathethic..

I don't want to make you look stupid but he was easily one of the best defensive guards in college basketball--you're statement can only be based on racial stereotype because it's obvious you never saw him play a minute. I saw him make a block on Jerome Dyson with his hand a foot above the cylinder. I mean he played John Wall pretty darn well the other night--

he averaged 2+ steals the last 3 years and was an active player across the board. He translates well to the NBA because of his size speed toughness and diversity of game coupled with a high IQ.

I also hope we bring Lin into camp. If they think he is good enough, they will sign him. Egos won't get in the way. In looking at the rookie first round salaries, the #23 pick, first round gets a guaranteed salary of $1,004,000 first year and $1,079,000 the 2nd year. Right now, I think that is about what Lin would be worth and I would offer him that. Make the 2nd year optional if possible.

"we did not have a great a draft"

We had a pretty good draft. All 3 players were 2nd round picks. Fields was ranked 6th overall for ALL players in the SL. Damm good for a #38 pick. Jordan at #44 was a good choice and may be productive in another year. Rautis - not looking good but will wait for training camp to finally decide. And Mosgov, though not really the draft, looks like an excellent pick-up.

Since we didn't have a 1st round pick,(Yes, I know you wanted us to move up) we did very well, IMHO.

He is in talks with 3 teams, one eastern conference!

Suddenly, the player deemed too flawed in most major areas to survive in the NBA is in contract discussions with three teams, according to league sources. The Los Angeles Lakers are believed to be one, with an Eastern Conference team the other.

Maybe Boston- didn't Tony Allen sign somewhere else? Nate is back, but not a true PG.

Maybe the Bucks- they lost Ridnour- who is their backup PG?

Really hope Donnie is the eastern conf gm. I would love to have this community pick in our roster.

Name That Eastern Conference Team

Jeremy Lin: "I have worked out with the Thunder, Lakers, Knicks, Grizzlies, Spurs, and a few others before the draft. I have worked out primarily against shorter and supposedly faster players in these workouts."

If Walsh pulls this off, and signs Lin, he deserves a standing ovation

I think because of the roster spots--it will be hard to do unless they dump someone. I FULLY agree with you on Lin. If you add fields and Jordan that leaves 2 spots. I think we need a vet PG--that leaves 1. Im afraid they are going to give Rautins a spot he did not earn--which leaves Lin out unless they release Curry. I really think a 2nd round pick should earn his way on to a team--Lin EARNED a paycheck similar to what Whiteside got this morning. Rautins earned a ticket to Europe.

We have 11 players signed with contracts. 3 2nd rounders without contracts. If we sign all 3 then we have 14 under contract which leaves us with one more open. I think Donnie wants to have an open spot for trade purposes.

I have a feeling Rautins is done. Fields earned a contract and JJ(5?) is a bought asset. Lin will be signed (crosses fingers) by the godfather.

2 years we will look back and say why didnt we sign this kid--always happens. Putting way to much value on Rautins who should not have been drafted anyway. I think Lin can play NOW--I think he can get in there and help a team. He doesn't need the D league. Come on D Walsh--make up for the Rautins pick here. Promise him no D league and a chance to play if he earns it + the three years with the two locked contract.
