Good for him.

I feel bad for us, but really bad for Cleveland, Akron, and Ohio in general. I have lived in smaller cities and towns, and I understand that picking up someone like Princess J, who is local, a great athlete, and just happens to be there when you win the draft lottery, is a rare occurrence.

Princess LeBron has committed legacy suicide. He is not only a coward who chose the easy path, but he is also a hypocrite who threw his hometown into the gutter after building up an image that was created to make you think he was above such things.

How can he ever go back to his home now?

He gave 7 hard years--what about your freedom of choice? He's been in Ohio for 25 years. I think he's earned the right to do what he wants--he still is a human being.

I sort of agree with you Briggs. LeBron was free to go. But the way he went and joining with Wade and Bosh is a wuss move. Wimpy. Unsportsmanlike. Not a role model or someone to look up to.

He's free to be a wuss, and Gilbert is free to call him out. Awesome letter.

Unfortunately ESPN is up Lebron's ass, but this is something he shouldn't live down.

He did--he did go out like a pssy--that he did. I think he was caught in a catch 22 where 4-5 cities were going to be mad no matter what--but he should have killed the show and just announced it like Bosh/wade did.

Me too. I'm not a Kobe fan at all but you have to respect what he did, which is win with what he had even after the glory days of him & Shaq.

He is not a man yet... he is 25 years old youngster.
He chooses his future team just to play with his bodies, have Flash handle the leadership and Bosh to play the tuff guy.
Bron will chill out in the beach land... No pressure... No worries.
All his argument that he wants to win chip now and picked up the best team is bull - Chi was the best team.
All his talk about challenge and being the man is bull - challenge was in NY.
All his talk of legacy and loyalty is bull - he had to stay in Cli.
He is being manipulated by the gangs from his inner circle, his mother, and now he will be Ralis toy.
LeBron is up for rood awakening... and then he will grow up. This never easy.

"Gilbert, who has owned the Cavs for five years, said he was most disappointed by James' behavior in the months leading up to the superstar's announcement that he is going to Miami to play with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. Gilbert said James never returned a single phone message or text since the end of the season and that the Cavs were not informed of James' decision until he went on the air." ... from the AP interview

what a pu$sy. guy didn't have the guts to tell them.

Shocking. I agree with Briggs. They got lucky to get LeBron in the first place. He could have been drafted by another team. He should be free to leave. Does he have to stay in Ohio for his whole career?

The owner is being unprofessional. I undestand how the fans feel, but the symbolism of burning the jersey is a little disturbing. Also agree that the one hour show was a huge PR mistake. Just announce your intentions and get on with things.

But also, yeah - choosing Miami was lame.

Its not just that he left- its the way he left and where he went. He made a huge national fuss about it. He went to hide behind his super friends. What he did was not manly. It was egotistical and cowardly.

I wonder if Gilbert would've felt the same way if Lebron just signed with New York or Chicago without the fanfare.

the reason gilbert is pissed is because lebron created a spectacle out of the thing and it makes the cavs look terrible, like a third-rate franchise.

Over the past two years every personnel move was made to appease LeBron. The reaction by Gilbert to fire Brown and latter Ferry were reactions in an attempt to keep LeBron. The Cavs even tried to sign and trade for Bosh. Nothing that was done was enough. I think after all he paid and devoted to this guy he had the right to write this letter. I do think he should have slept on it and edited it but regardless, it was his right after making this guy a mega millionaire.
