Lebron needs something big to stay relevant. His news has to be at least as big as Wade's.

He can't hold a 1 our news conference to tell us he's gonna be the next KG, wasting away his prime in some deadbeat outpost like Cleveland. That's too tragic for the King.

Going to Newark to play with Boozer? No, that's like announcing he is irrelevant.

Miami is Wades town, Chi is MJ's.

NY is the only suitable throne for a King, and the town is his, all his, for the taking.

Bayless, Chalmers and Armon Johnson gonna hold down the PG spot? They better call Pritchard back.

pritchard is interviewing with the nets today

great move for the nyets if they get KP.

Definitely a good move for the Nets...I say we take a good look at Tom Penn to be our next GM...This guy is impressive...Young, vibrant, intelligent dude that has show me, with his solid work on draft night and with all his work on ESPN breaking down all these potential FA scenarios on that big screen, that he has good ability and a very good understanding of all the responsibilities that would come with being a full-time GM...If KP ever got the Net gig, he'd undoubtedly want Penn to go with him...But that's where we should come in --- offer him the head GM job on the spot..He's already got the experience -- he was right there next to Pritchard every step of the way on all the solid moves Pritchard made that transformed that Portland team from the 'jailblazers' into contenders...KP get all the credit but I'm sure this guy Penn had major input in turning that team around as well..

I still don't believe that he wouldn't need a big prime time production to announce that he's staying in Cleveland.

Whats up Hardcore!? If Lebron comes to NYC the nightmare will finally be over.

i think it works if they are able to sign and trade beasley + chalmers in one of the deals.

it'll be the 3 egos and 9 minimum deals.

i absolutely agree with you - he's been fantastic on ESPN and obviously played a good role in portland. i would love to take a look at him, but i don't think donnie is going to be hiring anyone - i think this is going to be allan houstons job in about 2 years.

but honestly at this point... is anything ESPN has to say on the subject honestly reporting? they're BROADCASTING the decision. they're not going to give any actual insight into this. they're just hyping this up. this is business for them. pure entertainment. it's not even info-tainment anymore. ESPN is running a three ring circus. bron is in the middle ring. wade and bosh are doing a little miami dance over in the little ring.

I am posting this same thing in 2 different threads....

Is there anything that can be considered unmanufactured and real with Lebron at this point?

Ahh, good point..I didn't think of H20...You're right bro -- maybe they have been grooming him all along to take over...If it came down to it though -- H20 with no experience outside of what little he's been exposed to with the Knicks (which certainly hasn't been very successful so far) vs. Tom Penn, with the success Portland's had with their huge overhaul/transformation into one of the league's best and youngest teams -- it's Penn by a mile in my book as far as who's more qualified and more impressive..

H20, great player no doubt...Looks like an even better human being too...But as a GM? I don't know man -- this guy's major input sitting in on the LeBron meeting sounded like it was all about telling James that "you'll find an inner peace and you'll know what the right decision is" and all that....That sounds like Allan alright...Now is that type of low key or dare I say meek personalitiy he demonstrates good enough to make major decisions as an NBA GM??? I'm not sure...

I don't see LBJ "following" Wade and Bosh to Miami. It just seems 2nd rate, like he's a second-thought tag along.

Bosh + Lebron + Wade

Seriously no team could stand up to that. We are talking greater than Boston's and LA's legendary teams.

I hope it's true, and then Lebron signs with us, just because it would make such a great rivalry- Amar'e Vs Bosh, Lebron Vs Wade, plus whatever would happen with the scramble to fill each teams rosters with cheap players. I think they'd be two pretty evenly matched teams.

That's how you gotta look at it...It would instantly renew the rivalry we've had with them in the past...

Wade/Lebron AND Bosh together is such overkill however ...Unless you're a Miami heat fan, you couldn't possibly like that outcome...

I really can't see the 3 Max Player team happening.. that whole "money" thing gets in the way. Since I think Wade and Bosh are getting max deals, I can't see Lebron taking a cut.. 3 max salaries would leave like, $6 dollars left to spend.

islesfan wrote:That was to be expected. Can Miami still sign LeBron? They have room for 3 max contracts? I thought they were in the same boat as us with not being able to re-sign Lee if we added 2 max deals.

Anyway, I don't see LeBron signing there to be Wade's sidekick. Do you really think someone with the ego to demand a special on ESPN to announce his decision, will come play for Wade's team? A team that Wade has already won a championship for? Regardless of how many championships they would win, Wade would always be one up on him.

As for going back to Cleveland, why would he do that when they wouldn't be able to put another star player with him? That team has hit it's ceiling as a 55 win regular season team that will win a round or two in the playoffs. And it'll only get more difficult as other teams improve.

I think it's between the Knicks and Chicago with the Knicks favored. In Chicago, it would still be Jordan's town and I don't think he fits well with Rose (they're both ball handlers who need the ball to make things happen) and Noah (more of an energy guy than a skilled scoring forward who can take pressure off LeBron). In New York, he'd be the unquestioned King of the biggest and greatest City on earth. Anything he'd do here would be magnified 1000 times. He has another star player in Amare and a chance at another next year (they should tell LeBron they'll renounce Gallinari and whoever else to get the cap room to sign Melo to a max deal). It's his best hope to take on Wade and Bosh for the next 5 years.

Pretty much sums it up.

James may also be a bit pissed off with Bosh, who did not seem to want to come to Cleveland, although that would have been dependent on a sign & trade, and maybe Toronto did not like the Varejao, Hickson, West, + package.

If he does go to Miami now it also looks terrible for him- as if he is being compelled to go there because he does not want to be left behind Wade and Bosh. The Russian is right when he says that James' name will take a hit if he goes down south to be part of a Wade's super team.

I'm a little afraid of him being interested in Chicago, who can then pick up Boozer, but a team with Rose, James, Boozer, Noah, and ??? would still have some major outside shooting issues, and I have been saying all along that a Rose/James combo, just like a Wade/James pairing, is not going to be good chemistry because they are both at their best when they are controlling the ball.

I also agree that Chicago is less appealing because Jordan's shadow is still over that team- Just can't believe that James would want to put up with the comparisons.

I still think the "3 years with Cavs and do this again idea" is a legit, we all know the Cavs are terribly limited in terms of picking up significant talent to help James win a title. James staying in Cleveland would also make it easier for Anthony to come to the Knicks, and James would be left on a Cavs team having to get by the Magic, Heat, and Knicks while he was waiting to go to another team, perhaps the Nyets.

Would he go to the Nyets if Boozer or Lee (that would be ironic)came there with him? Another team with no offensive balance, unless they can pick up a guy like Allen. Who knows, but I would not put it past him to do this- live in purgatory in Newark, and then take the Nyets to the promised land in Brooklyn.

I end up being more hopeful about him coming to NY than I have been in a long time, but there are still too many possibilities to make me feel confident.

No man is happy without a delusion of some kind. Delusions are as necessary to our happiness as realities- C.N. Bovee

damn i hope you're right. this waiting is KILLING me...

honestly i feel bad teams like toronto and possibly cleveland who are gonna get screwed. but then again we have sucked for so long its time for us to turn it around. ive only followed the knicks since around 2003, around the time we got starbury lol. being that the raiders are the only other team i follow my teams have truly sucked for the longest time.

I would hate to play on that team. And I doubt they win anything. It would be a dysfunctional cluster****.
