take skill, health, age, attitude all into account.

amare is big upgrade over lee
amare is small upgrade over lee
they are the same
amare is small downgrade from lee

I don't think the Knick's should second guess themselves if they fail to get that high quality second player. Improving their percentages of succeeding, makes it the right move regardless of the final outcome imo.
What you said makes no sense--you are saying we spent 100mm just to *possibly*(and we have no clue)increase our chances of acquiring a certain player and if we fail it's OK. This isn't a biotechnology company.

A person with knowledge of the negotiations told Ken Berger of CBS Sports that Chris Bosh is interested in teaming up with LeBron James, but he is more likely to seek a sign-and-trade that sends him to the Nets, Bulls or Heat.

Bosh "remains decidedly unenthusiastic about joining James in Cleveland," writes Berger.

"If LeBron went to New Jersey, he'd consider that," the source said. "It's too late for New York. He wants to play with LeBron if LeBron leaves, but not necessarily in Cleveland."

A source says that the Bulls have not spoken to the Raptors about a sign-and-trade for Bosh.

The Heat is continuing to try to deal Michael Beasley in order to maximize their salary-cap room. Dwyane Wade canceled a public appearance he was scheduled to make Tuesday morning in South Florida.

It's all perception with this one. Right now who is the better player. It's a tough question to answer. Not the Amare that averaged 37 against the suns.

Lee is one of the best offensive players in the entire league. His jumpshot might be the best of any PF by the start of the season. We had one of the worst point guards in the entire NBA last season and no post presence. Nash and Williams were top 3 point guards which never seems to be factored in.

Lee could have been locked for 8.5-11 before the season, Amare at 100MM for five is a little troubling. If it gets Wade or Lebron who cares. But, if it doesn't we did overpay. We haven't seen him without Nash. He did have Mario and JJ. Was he a monster in the second half last season without question. But the players are comparable. Amare has a swagger which Lee can't and will never have. If it sets the process in motion we win if not we lose.

Why didn't any other team want to pay Amare Stoudemire what the Knicks were willing to? And lets also add into the equation the Knicks have spent their money very poorly over the last 10 years. I think the Knicks just bid against themselves because they felt it would give them a competitive advantage without having any idea if it really was true.

I think I know Amare just about as good as anyone here--this is not the Amare Stoudemire of 4 years ago--he would still be in Pheonix if that was the case--this is a very good secondary player--not franchise level anymore and he comes at absolute top dollar and at highest risk of all FA's. He's a really good player now--20mm? no.

Chris Bosh has not spoken with the Raptors since meeting with him on Thursday, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Toronto is focusing on potential sign-and-trade deal with Cleveland, Miami, New Jersey and Chicago.

The Raptors are expected to want J.J. Hickson and Anderson Vaerjao in return for Bosh from Cleveland, but talks have not advanced.

The Raptors expect LeBron James and Dwyane Wade to remain in Cleveland and Miami, respectively, with both players attempting to recruit Bosh.

fish - bosh won 47 games in a season being the best player on his team. and he carried the team to a 22-10 record before he got hurt with victories over lakers + dallas + spurs. so let's not talk about "carrying" a team for 2-3 months during a season. that's silly. he's never played with another all star, let alone 2 like amare has...there's a reason amare was #4 in the FA pool and not #3.

you like amare more than bosh or lee - that's fine.

i'm just trying to see how much of an upgrade do y'all think amare is over lee with all things being equal (regardless of who may or may not sign with ny in the future).

imho, a contract to lee will probably get you more bang for the buck now and long term but time will tell.

there has not been 1 iota of that reported. NONE.

Amare picked the Knicks and the Knicks also focused on them. PHO is up **** creek without a GM and we all know they got a penny pinching owner. PHO didn't even know they can still do a S&T with Amare until others pointed it out to them.

Meanwhile Bosh always starts out great, and yes he does carry the Raps to good records, then he gets banged up and isnt effective and Raps tank.

they lost in 6 games to the nets.

again, amare signs for 5...his own team offered him 4 guaranteed. there's a reason he ain't getting 6 years $120.

where are you getting those numbers from Briggs? Is that a copy/paste from one of your Anthony Randolph threads?

I'm calm briggy... as opposed to starting a new thread everytime some schmuck twatters which gets regurgitated in internet message forums.

So because Amare plays for one of the cheapest owners in sports he's no good? How do you know what he did or didnt have on the table?

Are we using other teams to measure our off season success? If we only gave Joe Johnson $5/$100mm is that a good deal because we are getting him for less than the Hawks offered?

We need everything Amare brings to the table, including being a legit star player to open the door for another player.

Is resigning David Lee going to make Lebron and Wade hold off on their decisions? Is Lee going to draw talent here? Is Amare?

i mean honestly, i don't think it's even a question on whether or not amar'e is an upgrade over lee. lee is a fantastic player but cmon he does not have the skills that amar'e has and he doesnt leave his mark the same way amar'e does. i'm sure all this has been said in this thread already, but cmon it's reality. if we're trading lee for amar'e, we're already a better team.

you like amare more than bosh or lee - that's fine.

i'm just trying to see how much of an upgrade do y'all think amare is over lee with all things being equal (regardless of who may or may not sign with ny in the future).

imho, a contract to lee will probably get you more bang for the buck now and long term but time will tell.

that was one season... and didnt they get swept in the playoffs? I just think its funny that Amare has injury concerns but hasnt missed games in 4 years minus the eye thing which isnt wear and tear. Meanwhile Bosh always starts out great, and yes he does carry the Raps to good records, then he gets banged up and isnt effective and Raps tank.

Am I right or wrong?

they lost in 6 games to the nets.

again, amare signs for 5...his own team offered him 4 guaranteed. there's a reason he ain't getting 6 years $120.

starting w/ cheap owner.

Thats the #1 reason according to Suns fans cause they all want to puke over this.

Briggs why didnt Pho resign Joe Johnson? Why didnt Mavs sign Nash? teams dont make mistakes?

So when the Nets sign Lee for $14mm a year is it a bad signing because there is a REASON the KNicks didnt sign him first?
