I really like 6'9"/6'10" Ben McCauley who's playing for the Magic's SL team as well. This dude can really play -- mobile big from NC State who really has a nice touch..He really looked good for the Lakers in SL last year but didn't stick and wound up going overseas to play in France..Looked good again in limited mins..Def. a guy to keep an eye on...This guy was basically the Wolfpack's center where he played close to the basket & instead, 6'9" Brandon Costner (where's this guy btw? He's pretty skilled himself--I don't see his name on any of the SL rosters) was outside on the perimeter...This dude McCauley can really shoot it though with nice range..Another guy to keep an eye on..

Charotte/Oklahoma City on right now...

what are your thoughts on ryan wittman bro? he and the rest of cornell had a great year this year and i thought he had some potential when i watched them this year. he's a great shooter but he's not going to wow anyone with his athleticism. i think theres a place for him in the nba though.. will be very interesting to watch him in summer league. he could be another morris almond, i guess we'll see.

Wittman looks automatic when he has a chance to set his feet. I agree that he's not the quickest or most athletic guy around but this guy possesses about as pure a stroke as I've ever seen..I like him for us a lot. I can't wait for the Vegas games to start so we can see what's what with Wittman, Garcia, Lyons and a few of these other guys..

I thought Golden State had rights to him.

Nope, they released him.

Looks like we'll finally be geting 7'1" C Jerome Jordan in for SL (Maggette passed his physical). Doesn't look like Chris Hunter will be playing however. From Alan Hahn:

SUMMER LEAGUE/JEROME JORDAN UPDATE

The roster for the Knicks entry into the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas was released last week. Veterans Toney Douglas and Bill Walker are both in the group, along with second round picks Andy Rautins and Landry Fields. Also part of the squad are two familiar faces, Marcus Landry and Patrick Ewing Jr.

The Knicks have a third second round pick, center Jerome Jordan, whose rights they purchased from the Bucks on draft night, who is expected to be on the summer league team by the time the games begin this weekend. The Knicks' first game is Sunday against the Nuggets at 1 p.m. (PT). MSG Network will broadcast all games as usual.

There were some stipulations with the pick, however, that had to be worked out. The Bucks received the pick (No. 44) from the Warriors as part of the Corey Maggette trade. But the trade couldn't be officially completed until Maggette passed a physical, which he did on June 29. So the pick went to Milwaukee. But the purchase of the pick wasn't completed by June 30th, so the NBA moratorium on signings and trades set in at 12:01 a.m. on July 1, which kept the Knicks' deal for him from being officially completed. The moratorium ends at 12:01 a.m. on July 8th. The Knicks hold their first summer league practice Friday in Las Vegas and Jordan is expected to be there.

But one player who won't is Chris Hunter, who was in training camp last fall and finished out the season with the Golden State Warriors. Hunter was originally on the roster but changed his mind and decided not to come.

It remains unclear if Donnie Walsh and Mike D'Antoni will both be in Vegas as usual. With so much work to be done via free agency and trades, Walsh may stay back in New York.

Sherron Collins/Eric Maynor is an interesting matchup in this Charlotte/Ok. City game..I still think Sherron Collins is as good an UFA PG as there is playing in summer ball right now..His drive & kick game has been excellent since entering the game...Hasn't had a chance to get it back after the initial pass so we haven't had the chance to see the jumper yet but I already know that's there..

If we don't get the big PG upgrade to go along with TD and Rautins doesn't exhibit the PG skills they anticipate, Collins is one of the better options out there for us imho.

You wanna laugh, former Gonzaga PG Jeremy Pargo is really taking it to Maynor right now..Pargo looks real good out there..Taller & a lot thicker/stronger looking than Maynor side by side. Pargo's another guy I might look at if we wind up looking for another cheap PG...We could do a lot worse - dude can play.

that was my knock on maynor since i was watching him at vcu - he had to add the weight and muscle. i still think he's going to turn into a good PG in the nba, gotta hit that weight room tho.

Maynor had 18 pts, 5 assists, 7/10 from the line 2 steals and 4 rebounds. He had the same # of turnovers(3) but played twice as many minutes as Pargo.

Pargo had the big shot at the end of the game, but Maynor looked pretty good out there.

If I had not watched some of the game I would have had a distorted idea of what took place in the game based on your description. Maynor looks like a nice player, and a steal from Utah by OKC.

i am guessing that dudes can play in more than on league.

Guess so..

"ORLANDO -- Patrick Ewing Jr. recorded 12 of his team-high 17 points in the second half to help the Magic erase an 11-point halftime deficit, but Orlando couldn't hold off the Utah Jazz down the stretch in its 78-73 defeat on Tuesday at the 2010 AirTran Airways Pro Summer League.

Ewing Jr. shot a blistering 7-of-12 from the field and 2-of-4 from beyond the arc."

He's basically an FA- if he does really well for the Magic they may just sign him up and he may never play for our SL team. Considering thats where his Dad coaches right that seems like it could be likely.

Nets have some nice pieces there--even Zoubek looked good for what he does--set picks and rebound the ball--better than game 1

Nobody wanted him more than myself. He's a little TO prone and needs to find some consistent jumprer(it's improving) but he can most definitely play the POINT POSITION with ease. He is a legit point forward. I wanted us to draft either and/or(with additional pick 2009 Draft)) T-Will and Earl Clark.

He will be a Top 3 player from his draft class no doubt about it. And most Knicks fans thought he wasn't even worthy of a Lottery Pick. Derrick Favors looks like he could be nice too along with Damion James(sleeper pick)

Watching the Celtic/Bobcat game right now...Man is this Matt Janning a Goddamn hog or what? Why is this guy handling the ball as a PG? He ain't passing the ball...LOL..terrible -- here I am trying to watch some Ryan Wittman shoot the ball and this dude Janning is hogging the **** out of it all over the joint..

DeShawn Sims from Michigan looking pretty good for the Celts here. A young, well-built and athletic 6'8" 230 lb. -- knocking down jumpers all over the court. Much better shooter than I ever realized. Either that or he's worked on his stroke a great deal since college..Keep an eye on this kid..Celts in a complete blowout over the Cats..

Yup.

Orlando fans must be going crazy thinking about the guys they should/might have taken.

I guess that Orlando felt they had the time to develop the kid, but you figure that there are many other players they might have chosen who could have helped them a bit- your guy Whiteside might have been a good fit on a veteran team with solid leadership and a guy like Ewing to work with him.

Well when a guy avg 2 points in college? You would think he would be able to bring it up a notch with more PT against peers of his own talent but this was a reach of epic proportions

Edited the first post to include martin's info.

July 11th should be a fun game to watch our young'ins.

Even more fun to watch certain fans declare random players stars or busts based on a SL game.

F LeBron. I have a feeling we will completely forget about him after we watch Landry Fields play a few games.
