Every time I watch it, I get chills. Not the good kind, though. Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

I like Lee and Amare I just wish we could get a perimeter player. We all know NY's staple has become the pick and roll. A 2 man game with shooters to spread the floor. I just want a guard or small forward who can run it with Amare/Lee whatever really well because that is our main play. I do not want to see Ridnour or Douglas having to run it over and over. Douglas still needs to work on his passing and pg skills. Ideally, I wish he could come off the bench and play some defense, which is his biggest contribution. And he's shown he can hit some open shots and make an occasional play but I dont want him as the focal point of our offense. I'd rather spread the floor with guys like Douglas, Gallo, and Walker and have a more skilled player that's more adept with the pick and roll that can beat the defense in many ways(unlike Duhon). Also, the way we spread the floor, D'Antoni usually has a smaller 4 who can shoot threes(not that you cant space out with Amare and lee it's just not typical).

He isolated against bigger, slower centers, played his face up game, and either pulled up or drove pretty well given his 20 per game and his %. Clearly Amare is better and Lee's defense is terrible but I'm trying to understand your point. Lee isn't a go to scorer but a pretty decent complement if you ask me. Not a Bosh/Amare/Dirk, but not so far off from say Boozer. |

What is it you don't understand ? Championship teams have guys who defend, losing teams have a problem making stops at crucial times in the game 4 qtr 2 min left. Trying to score more than your opponent may get you in the playoffs, but you will NEVER WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP with out playing better defense than your opponent.

At this point and based on everything we know, I have to agree that signing D Lee and Amare could be a solution for us.

Lee and Amare are redundant. As much affection as there is for Lee, he is NOT a center. The Knicks need a center to anchor the defense.
The Atlanta Hawks have learned the hard way about playing guys who have redundant skill sets once a knick always a knick

I still don't think Lee had empty stats. You're right though. There's no way in hell he can be the best big man on the team, let alone the number one scoring option on the entire team. He's NOT that type of player. He's a very good player who could be your third best player, and would look GREAT next to an Amare or Bosh.
Get them both and you have a very good frontcourt. “Whenever I’m about to do something, I think ‘Would an idiot do that?’ and if they would, I do NOT do that thing.”- Dwight Schrute

Are you sure the fact that he's a home-grown likable player isn't biasing your assessment (Briggs and others arguing for bringing back Lee)? If he had the exact same numbers but on some other (lottery) team, would you really say that we need to use most of our remaining cap space on Lee in order to pair him up with Amare? Last time I posted here regularly, Briggs was talking about how the best teams have tall, long defensive minded PF/Cs, and I think that's exactly what we saw in these finals with all four starting PF/Cs being about 7 foot tall and very good on defense. I wouldn't spend all the FA money on two PFs who both are far from that description.

can we just have Earl Barron playing the center role and do something for a point guard with the likes of chips we have (expiring contract with curry, wilson chandler, and maybe a sign and trade with lee). We haven't had a decent point guard since derek harper.

BRIGGS wrote:Bottom line--removing Lee and adding Stuodemire is a wash in many ways. We CANNOT discount resigning Lee in fact if we dont get LBJ Wade or Bosh I think he should be next in line. Atleast a Gallo Lee Amare frontline will be tough to deal with removing Lee is a new zero if we just add amare and some parameter players BRIGGS, do you think defensively this just would not work. Unless Amare is committed to coming here and playing center, which I doubt is the case, he is probably not going to be happy have to guard Shaq, Bynum, Ming, Howard, and all the other big centers in the league. Plus, Lee is the worst starting PF defender in the league and Amare is probably only 10-12 spots higher than him on the the worst PF defenders' list. They both would have to make a major committment to improving on D, and Amare would have to agree to play center pretty much full time to make it work. I just don't see it. Trust the Process

If we sign Lebron and Amare, fill the rest of the roster with cheap players on 1 year deals and try to sign a third max player next year. Barron and maybe a Jason Williams would fill out the roster just fine. Trust the Process
