i'm not too excited about jj/amar'e combo, but atleast it's something. if we can add tony parker to the mix, that team is pretty good.

Yeah I don't think anyone is jumping for joy over JJ3/Amare, but it's not just about them. We still would have options to improve even further and those two guys actually address areas of need and we KNOW they fit the system. It's not a guess or hope. The team can expect to play on a much higher level than we've seen in some time. The improvement should be immediate given the familiarity with the system everyone would have.

The way some of you put it, the only max guy's are Wade, LBJ and bosh...

What you are basically saying is that if you can't get any of those 3, don't sign anybody else for the max, sign Rudy and david lee for roughly 11 a piece, then swap picks with houston ( cause we will be a lottery team) sit back and wait and watch melo re-up with denver, CP3 will get traded (in a similar way gasol got traded) and be left in the cold for another 5 years.

Donny is going to have to over pay for at least one player not name wade, bron, or bosh..thats the nature of the sports business. If you want to put amare and joe in the 2nd tier, thats fine, but just remember we have no superstar on this team as an incentive to come play with.

amare is just not that good. these guys are 2nd and 3rd bananas. if joe wants to sign for 10 mil/yr and amare the max and their plan is to go to lebron and say "we have joe johnson and amare signed with enough room for you leftover at the max" maybe that is what they are thinking. if the summer ends and the knicks have maxed out joe johnson and amare that is it. i will renounce my ultimateknicks membership and start watching english premier league.

And you know with our luck, Amare Stoudemire becomes Antonio McDyess 2.0 and we are right back to 2002. LOL

Agreed. We had to go all in for Lebron/Bosh/Wade but it didn't work. Joe + Amare is not bad. But I think we will do better than JJ and Amare.

How are Amare Stoudemire and Mike D'Antoni going to get along and make it work after all the trash talking they have done the last few years?

people figure out a way to get along. they are not on the same level of talent but kobe and phil jackson talked a lot of trash about each other when kobe broke up that team.

I am being positive because so far, all we have heard is rumors. The media reports something new everyday. Tomorrow they will have Lebron and Bosh going to the Bobcats so I will wait till someone signs somewhere before I start selling my tickets.

Amare hasn't miss a game do to knee probs since the micro operation 2 seasons ago, dice was coming to the knicks right off the same operation..After the 2nd operation, he wasn't as explosive, but he never complained about pain, or had to miss time because of it.

you wouldn't trade Jordan Hill, Jefferies, 2011 swap and 2012 for Amare?

Not when 2011 & 2012 could end up being very good picks, and with JJ and Amare, we'd still have a bunch of holes with our roster

I almost want to start a new thread- but

Does anyone really think that JJ & Amare with what is left of our roster is really better talent wise than their respective teams?

Because basically you're saying JJ & Amare & Gallo are better than Amare, Nash, Richardson, Hill & the rest of their group.

And someone has yet to explain how Joe Johnson who has disappeared every play off is going to stand the pressure here in NYC as one of 2 main guys brought in to turn things around.

If we sign JJ without a wade bosh dirk or lBJ than we just wasted two years and 4 first round picks.

How could you even sell that to the fans--he basically told atlanta fans to FO.

Johnson sat out some of the games at the end of the regular season. I believe he had achilles tendonitis. I would think that this would still be a concern.

it was a strained vagina.

On the bright side, he can recuperate with Eddy Curry.

Locking up JJ right away still makes the most sense. It's a nice pitch to Lebron and teaming up with JJ and Gallo creates a modern day Jordan-Pippen-Kukoc combo. If the knicks fail, either sign Amare or Rudy Gay. It also can be said that getting 2 star wings and moving Gallo to the PF creates the best roster balance for MDA's offense and defense. They can play 4 out and have 1 defensive big inside, such such Tyson Chandler or OK4. If we can trade Curry and Chandler for OK4 and Collison, i'm pretty intrigued by a line-up like this

C OK4, Barron, Jordan
PF Gallo, veteran big (Kurt Thomas?)
SF James or Gay, Walker, Fields
SG Johnson, Rautins
PG Collinson, Douglas

So you trade Curry for Okafor and Darren Collinson, effectively putting the Knicks over the cap for the next 5 yrs. That team never makes the ECF guaranteed. Awful.

I love the lineup with James in it. With Gay not so much. If Joe Johnson is your alpha dog you are gonna have a problem.

I am trading to get Emeka no matter what though. Perfect guy to put in the middle here. Curry and $3 mil for Emeka, or Curry, Chandler and $3 mil for Collision.
