we didn't have cap room then. and kobe has been a FA before when chicago has had cap room. 2004 when he visited the clippers as well. rumors were hot and heavy for chicago then and in 2007 when he was supposedly going to force a trade there.

you're contradicting yourself saying the knicks haven't been able to get guys when they didn't have cap room (which they do now) and that the bulls will easily be able to get two maxes when they don't have the cap room for it.

ESPN has a lot of chicago and boston guys on their staff who dislike NY and have made a career out of publicly belittling NY. i'm not really interested in their take on stuff.

I don't see why Wash wants Heinrich. They got Wall coming in and they'd give up cap space.

Heinrich salary would hold them back and the 17th pick is not that special.

Sorry Briggs but ...

Luol Deng $11.4M
Derrick Rose $5.5M
Joakim Noah $3.1M
James Johnson $1.7M
Taj Gibson $1.1M
Cap Holds $.47K x 7 = $3.3M
Total $26.1M
Cap $56.1M
Space $30M

A MAX contract is $16.8M so Chicago does not have enough room.

It really makes no sense for the Wizzies unless they have a deal in place for Arenas. I assume this is the case since it would be crazy to assume $9mil in cap for the #17 pick.

Look on the bright side. At least you'll get to turn 21 again.

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Childs2Dudley wrote:Well it's over. I don't Blame Donnie for the plan and the moves he did but it's obvious this franchise is cursed and going nowhere. Seriously. Knicks fans are a dying breed. Half the fans that attend games are out-of-towners and tourists coming to see the opposition. We are a week away from the great free agent bonanza and we will be left out in the cold. We'll probably scrape some mediocre fake franchise guy like Joe Johnson and Carlos Boozer but what is that doing to do, really? Nothing.

I will give up on this team in the coming weeks. I've been holding out hope for a while but the end is near. I've been a diehard fan for the past 12 years of my life and I've reached my limit. I'm not going to prepare myself for another decade of losing. I can't handle it anymore. I know people always threaten to quit the Knicks and don't but I'm serious. The Knicks are simply not worth the time and effort anymore. I wont become a bandwagon fan of anyone. I guess I'll just watch random NBA games for my basketball fix. But as far as my Knicks passion goes? It's nearly all gone. And it's a damn shame.

Lebron and Bosh are coming. Book it. The trade signals you are seeing are reactionary in nature. The Miami moves are indicate that Wade realizes he is the odd one out of the James/Wade/Bosh triad. He is forcing Miami to get Johnson and Amare-- cause it will take the three of them to compete with Bron/Bosh/Gallo. Chicago realizes that James and Bosh are moving in the same direction (NY) and realize if the MIA and the NY deals happen, they are left with nothing-- not even competitiveness.

Here's the rub-- I don't think Amare leaves money on the table. I think Miami ends up with Wade, Johnson and either Boozer or Lee. Amare either stays in Phoenix or heads to Chicago.

I think we are good. Bron and Bosh 2010. No inside info here... just reading the signs.

You know I gonna spin wit it

and it's $9M and another $8M the year after.

Here is the ESPN link: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/draft2010/news/story?id=5324240

The article also suggests that Sacramento is a backup plan for the same trade if the Wiz pull out. Sac, who have Tyreke, Francisco Garcia at $8M per, and Beno Udrih starting at $6.6M per going for an additional 3 years.... and they would add Heinrich?!

This does not pass the smell test.

Lol... even so, sometimes you gotta hit the young whippersnappers with the grampa cane... PS-- I am only 30 ;)

Back to the present topic, I re-iterate, I have not been more certain that Lebron and Bosh were coming to NY until I saw those moves happen. The question in my mind is how to structure the remainder of the roster to best utilize Bron and Bosh. Even with James playing the role of Magic Johnson, I think you need an off guard ball handler to run with this squad and help bring the ball up so James doesn't get worn out-- except adding an undersized ball handler at SG gives up the advantage of James at PG.
