They had about $25mil of cap space before Hinrich assuming they let Howard walk or flip him in a trade this summer and $16mil after the Hinrich trade minus Pick 17 and maybe James Johnson. Really you're trying to dumb down a decent trade that was made here.

If this draft is a deep as it says it is then I'd say the deal is fair. What has Yi done since coming into the league? I'd ask for a second round pick if I were the Nets and pull the trigger.
