Also, retiring Jordans number paves the way for others, and then it gets out of hand. Russell, Bird, Chamberlain, Shaq, Kobe, LeBron, and even guys like Dr. J and Oscar Robertson would all have to be considered. All of them had measurable impacts on the league in a certain capacity. Nothing like Jackie Robinson though.

It would just start a trend of stupidity.

Ya know, you can even make this arguement. MJ yielded great ratings for the league, and was a great great player. Probably the best. However, his legacy probably left a NEGATIVE impact on the league. With his style of play, everybody wanted to "Be Like Mike" and do crazy juke moves and dunks and hit long distance shots with 3 people over them, instead of just playing the game of basketball. In a strong sense, that hurt the league.

I agree completely with everything you said, Allan.

This is just a nod towards the greatest money man the NBA has ever seen. Nothing more, nothing less.

i wonder what julius is thinking about lbj wanting to go to 6? julius was one of the nba greats and one of those who kept the league on the map back in the day. the way lebron makes it sound, i'd be pissed if i were the doc.

it didnt hurt the league it ruined it. Gone is the free flow play that like 2-3 teams actually play. Its all about isolation and the 2 on 2 basketball. Its terribe.

Fuck... just heard LeBron donated to March of Dimes and they sent him 200 envelope stickers with his mailing address pre-printed on the label. He's staying put for sure.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Ok, im not saying he is coming but when the dude is rocking sneakers like this is just makes you wonder.

Im not Sherlock Holmes, Joe Mannix or Monk, but there was a visual clue. Me, I think he is just playing with y'all! That Lebron is so mysterious!

looks like we're all way off base on this one... Lebron wants to be a Yankee in 2010.

After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

The scary thing is I bet he could be a gold glove center fielder right out of the gate.

i wouldn't doubt it... he'd probably be a pro bowl tight end or WR in the NFL too if he wanted.

the fact is Lebron James filed to change his number--he would only have to do that if he was going to remain with Cleveland. While it doesn't lock him into staying---anyone with 1/4 of a brain will not compute this as a positive development at a minimum.

Now you tell us!!!! Quick go find the remaining three fourths of your brain dude.
You were far more likable when you had the whole enchilada.

Adding more brain isn't bringing Lebron James to this crppy team. No one wants to be the bearer of bad news but no one can give a lucid explanation of why lebron would come to such a bad team. And leave out that he's never had Scillian Pizza or a Knish :)

This is an unfortunate fantasy because they have sold this 2010 stuff and people are going to be very disappointed. The joke unfortunately will be on the Knick fan who helps filter cash to Dolan for his inept management of his spoon-fed ownership

Papabear Says

If LeBron stayed in Cleveland I would'nt be mad. It's his home state and they love him unconditionally. The only love he would get here is play basketball and if we don't win a championship we will throw him under the bus like we do everyone else. Cleveland really love him .
Sure I want him to play in New York but that won't happen.
