Dlee would not take "30mil"less. But the key is anyone offering a max contract.
Lebron can do deal with an opt out which is basically renegotiate the deal. This is what h20 got and I believe Arenas. Arenas got a max deal with a bad knee. Its all prearranged on a handshake deal, the old wink wink, nod nod.
How do you convince someone to take less?
Maybe if their presence makes the stock go up so you buy it ahead of time?
They get big nike money?
They can opt out 3 years after?
Get with Euro legend coach MDA and take some preseason games to open up more endorsement deals. Get Rubio on the team and they are staples on EuroTV.
This is all plausable. doubtful, but very doable.
Oh, Dlee for Bosh I think is very doable. Dlee makes a boat load with a good team and Toronto saves face.
All that is true, but Lebron wants to win. That is not on that list. Jordan won 6, Kobe won 4. Lebron will be 26 and had 6-7 years to get that level. An important side bar item, both Jordan and Kobe spent their careers with one team.
As to the opt out clause after 3 years. Opt out to go where? Back to Cleveland? Don't think so. My hope is Cleveland loses in the conference finals again, he signs 1 year extension with Cleveland this summer and reconsiders the situation in 2011. By then we hopefully have a young playoff team waiting for a leader.
Yes, I am on the doubtful camp. Still hopefull. CC, Yankees, MSG, bright lights, and everything you have on the list can hopefully convince him to delay his pursuit of a ring (or at least 4, need to get more than Kobe
) for a year or 2.
