I'm hoping Sergio can prove he can play this game and become our pg. he came into the league at 19...a lot of players dont get burn at the beginning of their careers and turn into something good prime example is chauncey billups. |

If Jimmer last name was Rubio he would be slotted as an 8 pick in the mock drafts. Oh yeah the kid can shoot--and pass and dunk and rebound--did i say he can shoot? Now is there an avenue to get him??

One thing I like is that Sergio always keeps his dribble. He also pushes the ball up court very quickly and either drives the hoop or dishes it to an open man. Fast tempo fits MDA's style of play. I'll give him a chance. We also have him possibly for next year as he has a qualifying offer of $2.8 mil for 2010. The difference between fiction and reality? Fiction has to make sense.

Now is there an avenue to get him?? Never seen this kid once but it looks like he can play. I think they have to look at him with one of those 2nd rounders. Shoot, he might go even higher. He dropped that huge game on Arizona and he's got his club playing very good ball right now -- if BYU makes some noise in the Tourney, he might be a 1st rounder. I'm still leaning toward backcourt depth with those two picks as of right now: Fredette/Greivis Vasquez I'd be very happy with one of these combinations - they're all underrated players that I think could step in & help us right away next year. Unless they can swing a deal to get back into the first round, then I start looking at a little better quality of talent like maybe a big physical 2-guard like a Quincy Pondexter (QPon's really come into his own this year for Washington - big, physical, high % offensive wing that can D up a little bit and rebound the ball, looks like a real good kid too), an offensive big like a Craig Brackins or a smaller hustle big like a Trevor Booker. Another player I really like that's completely flying under the radar is Demetri McCamey from Illinois. Nice size for a PG at 6'3", 210 lbs., this kid's game has really come a long way from when I first saw him. He's fairly quick & strong and is an underrated offensive player. Has really stepped up this year and become an excellent passer too, averaging almost 7 assists a game (over 7 in Big Ten play I think). I was watching the Illinois/Purdue game yesterday - this kid played 40 minutes, took only 6 shots but had 16 assists in the loss. Kinda reminds me of a poor man's Randy Foye/Chauncey Billups type of player - he's more than capable offensively and had some big scoring games this year. Seemed like every time I turned around yeaterday, McCamey was hooking up with Mike Davis or Mike Tisdale for a bucket... Speaking of Tisdale, this kid's huge at 7'1" (but very thin) with a tremendous shooting touch. Tisdale's more of a summer league invitee-type but I think McCamey might be good enough to get drafted somewhere late.. |

Its funny how a PG can't be as good as Rubio, when Rubio hasn't played a minute on American soil.
