It could look something like this as well????

Houston Trades: Tracy McGrady and #1st rd Pick
Houston Rec's: Caron Butler (SG/SF), Brendan Haywood (C), and Mike James (pg)

Washington Trades: Caron Butler, Brendan Haywood, and Mike James
Washington Rec's: Al Harrington (sf/pf), Cuttino Mobley's (EXPIRING CONTRACT) Fut 1st rd pick via Houston

Knicks Trade: Al Harrington, Cuttino Mobley
Knicks Rec: Tracy McGrady (SG)

Houston could then waive Mike James.. which would allow for him to sign w/ NYK for the remainder of this yr. Alot of varying scenarions.. NONE OF WHICH I BELEIVE WILL INCLUDE JARED JEFRIES OR EDDY CURRY. Sorry folks!

If we dump JJ or Eddy, we do a deal. Otherwise, what the f**k do we want with broken down TMac? I'd love to see him go off at MSG, but let's face it, even if he helps us get into the playoffs, we lose badly in the first round. It would be MUCH smarter to develop our younguns this season that to keep pretending we are something we clearly aren't.

Now if we can free up a bit more cap room this summer to re-sign David and maybe add a young starter at the 1, then hell yes I am in.

Washington's owner died and they are in the process of selling the team they are not adding salary for 2010. They want to pick for a reason.

Here is a revised deal where the salary matches AND the guaranteed contracts are within the limits

NYC gets: McGrady, Miller, and Cook

WAS gets: Harrington, Hughes, Milicic, pick from Houston

HOU gets: James, Haywood, and Butler

- Knicks get shooters who expire in an attempt to make a playoff push. I included Mike Miller because I cant see Walsh taking Cook considering the tax hit without getting something good in return.

- Washington gets expirings and reduces their payroll

- Houston basically kills in this deal since Haywood could be retained if they lose Scola or Landry to free agency. They also get an experienced offensive SF and Mike James takes Brian Cook's spot on the bench.

In truth, its simply this.. IMO.. Mike D'antoni is likely tired of the losing, the playoffs are seemingly slipping away.. and The Knicks do not have a go to guy! TMac will fit the bill in that department.. Yes, he's injury prone, and Yes, even with him we likely fail to reach the playoffs, BUT What the trade does, IMO.. is create the illusion that NYK gives a darn about this season. Moreover, we can at the very least avoid giving UTAH A HIGH LOTTERY PICK. Good grief!

IM ALL FOR A T-MAC TO NY DEAL with or without a trade mandate that includes Jefries or Curry. Sign me up, I hope it gets done SOON! Assuming this isn't just a false rumor created by some Beatwriter. *Gasp

Editing, adding to and reformatting my post above-

Houston makes out the best with these trade scenarios. They give up TMac who isn't even playing for 2 players who will start and make them a strong playoff contender. Houston will have to give up a first round pick to Wash.

They also need to take on a 3rd player to balance salary. Butler and Hayward are NOT enough matching salary for TMac's $23,240,000 salary. So add Jeffries to Houston and Houston adds Chuck Hayes to Wash; Wash adds Mike James to Knicks.

Knicks trade: Harrington(Wash), Darko (to Wash), Nate(to Wash), Jeffries (to Houston), 2nd round pick from Denver/Clippers to Wash
Knicks receive: TMac, Mike James

Houston trades: TMac (to Knicks) + Chuck Hayes(to Wash) + 1st round to Wash
Houston receives: Butler, Hayward, Jeffries

Wash trades: Butler(To Houston), Hayward(to Houston), James(to Knicks)
Wash receives: Harrington, Nate, Darko (they may cut?); Chuck Hayes; Houston 1st round; Knicks 2nd round pick from Denver/Clippers

This trade works with trade checker.
Also works logically.

-Houston gains 3 players who can help them this year.
-Wash dumps contract and gains a young player (Hayes), 1st rd pick from Houston, 2nd round pick from Knicks, and maybe re-sign Nate and/or Harrington.
-Knicks dump Jeffries contract and pick up a PG for this yr and TMac?? Who knows what will happen?

just for fun, using ESPNs trade machine, he's my incarnation:

NY trades:
Al Harrington, Jeffries, Mobley, Darko
NY Receives:
TMac, Mike Miller

Washington trades:
Caron Butler, Mike Miller, Brendan Haywood
Washington Receives:
Al Harrington, Cuttino Mobley, Jared Jeffries, Houston 1st round pick in 2010 and 2012 and NY 1st round pick in 2012

Houston trades trades:
TMac
Houston Receives:
Caron Butler, Brendan Haywood, Darko

Houston would have to do a little house cleaning to cut their roster down, but this trade definitely keeps them in the very thick of things in the west. Washington has always had an affinity for Jeffries and they get him back, they also get Al Harrington and Mobley who they can let expire as well as 2 1st rounders from Houston. The Knicks rid themselves of Jeffries and also get 2 expirings that can give them one last run at the playoffs for this year. I think Mike Miller lets it up under MikeD.

If anything comes from this--it will have little to 0 value. 13 games under .500 6.5 games out of the 8th seed in position 11--1 1/2 games out of position 14 with 31 games to go. This is just to create hype.

yeah. exactly.

anyone think it's coincidence that according to mitch lawrence, dolan had a closed door meeting with walsh after the loss last night. a few hours later there's a story on yahoo.com that the knicks are looking to get mcgrady? the story isn't - rockets to get butler or washington to dump salary, but knicks get mcgrady. that smacks of a leak from new york - damage control after an embarassing loss.

I'm with you on this Briggs. I don't get it from anyone standpoint but the Wizards. All you do is make them players in the 2010 FA class. It does nothing for the Knicks. This isn't the McGrady from 7 years ago, hell this isn't the McGrady from early last year. This is the guy that is looking to jack up shots for a new contract, who doesn't defend and can't stay healthy long enough to contribute much.

I agree. The only reason you do this trade is to rid of Fishlips or Eddy's contract. That's it.

Just looking at the Wizards contract situation they don't have any other large expirings to make the numbers work.

Yeah, that's what I saying. All the Knicks would be doing is helping the Wizards get under the cap to make a run at the same free agents that the Knicks will be looking to go after. The Rockets and Wizards have no interest in Jeffries since he has salary next year. I don't get why Jeffries' name keeps getting floated around. Jeffries will have to go to a team like the Spurs or Celtics.

Washington can't get far enough under the cap to sign a max FA. Arenas + Jamison = $31 million for next year. Plus their other players.

Well i think its safe to say the trade is very possible and makes tons of sense to all teams involved....

I'm gonna be pissed when a rep from Houston or Washington flat out denies this rumor....you know somebody will. "Come on you think we are stupid enough to do that trade??? Nobody, I mean nobody is gonna help the Knicks do anything. We will not be the first!"

I think Jamison would be included another deal. Could be with Cleveland at some point. Jamison is a guy that I don't think you need to package with another player.
