hell if the wizards are interested in trading, i'd send them expirings and jordan hill. atleast the wiz would be getting something in that deal.

not too many teams will give them that type of $$$ savings. considering they might be up for sale...and the new CBA in another year, maybe that's all it will take to get those 2 players.

Donnie's not going to sacrifice the 2010 plan for Butler & Jamison either.

that's the kind of trade we can make next year with curry and jeffries' contracts - AFTER we get a core guy to build around.

the Knicks hate their team and are going to pull off as many changes that they can. Other than Lee Chandler and Gallo---anyone can go. I see us pulling off two deals--unless something freakish happens I think the Knicks are getting T Mac for better or for worse.

Bulls engaged in Tyrus Thomas trade talks
February 12, 2010 3:01 PM | 1 Comment

By K.C. Johnson

DALLAS -- With six days until the NBA trade deadline and all the general managers in one place for competition committee meetings, this is when the bluffs start to fade and trade talks get more serious.

Along those lines, league sources said the Bulls are intensifying efforts to parlay Tyrus Thomas into expiring contracts and future draft picks.

The latest news is old news in that the Bulls have contacted the Knicks again regarding Al Harrington's availability. Those teams also talked in a rumor that leaked in early December.

A deal involving Thomas and Jannero Pargo for Harrington would need other salaries to work under the collective bargaining agreement.

Portland's interest in Thomas is believed not to be serious. Denver also is hesitant to take on a player whose qualifying offer is $6.2 million this summer as a restricted free agent.

Thomas also is being shopped as part of larger deals involving John Salmons and Kirk Hinrich, according to league sources. The Bulls are making clear to teams they will not take back salary as part of any deal.

I don't care if we trade Harrington, but no WAY do we give up draft picks even if they are in 2021 to the BULLs AGAIN!

I think we should trade Eddy Curry to the Bulls for 2 unprotected draft picks.

The Washington Wizards and Dallas Mavericks are nearing completion on a trade that will exchange Caron Butler(notes) and Josh Howard(notes), league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

The teams were negotiating whether to expand the trade to include Wizards center Brendan Haywood, but one source with knowledge of the talks said he doesn’t expect the core of the deal – Butler and Howard – to unravel. Wizards guard DeShawn Stevenson is expected to be moved to Dallas in either deal involving Butler.

The Mavericks would send Quinton Ross(notes) or Tim Thomas(notes) and possibly Drew Gooden to Washington if the trade also includes Haywood.

Wiz and Mavs still talking about way to expand deal to include Brendan Haywood, but source says core -- Butler for Howard -- is solid.

more from woj on yahoo (who's reliable):

Butler is going to Dallas, but Wiz and Celts will continue to discuss a scaled down deal for Jamison, source says. Boston still interested.

Cavs and Celts will go head to head for Jamison, but sources say Cavs are very involved in talks for Amar'e Stoudemire.

It's too bad we'll have Eddy Curry and Jared Jeffries eating $20 million in cap space next year.

Wow. Dallas. And Washington is just out to dump salary. Stevenson gets $4.15 million next year.

Houston really blew it. They could have had Butler and Hayward - 2 positions they need filled, and they would have made the playoffs, IMO.

Houston is playing it safe but I don't think that is a bad thing. They should have Yao back, and they have alot of 3's Buddinger, Battier and Ariza. They also will have cap space.

It doesn't look good for us but maybe Wash will trade Mike James for Jeffries + 2nd round pick + cash?

Oh my God--Isiah thomas--our pick and our cap space. Funny thing is he'll blame it on someone else.

Yes Houston is playing it safe and will finish in 9th or 10th place in the West rather than make the playoffs. Butler has only 1 yr and Hayward is an Expiring, so there wasn't a long-term committment.

Butler is far better than any of the 3 present players on Houston you named. Ariza is scoring more but is taking more than twice the shots as he did with the Lakers (15.2 attempts with Houston) and only making a putrid 37.8% FG%. Houston needs another go-to guy like Caron Butler......and a Big who can defend the paint - Hayward has 10.4 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game this year along with a 56% FG%. At 7feet, 265lbs, he could guard the opponents Big.

Ric Bucher at the All-Star Game
With attempts to land a 'stretch 4' proving fruitless, Cavs turn to Amare
"The beauty of reporting that Cleveland and Phoenix are in talks about anything is that on any given day it is sure to be true because Cavs GM Danny Ferry and Suns GM Steve Kerr practically call each other almost every day, sources say. The tricky part is that more often than not the topic of conversation between the two friends and former teammates is only occasionally about the fortunes of their two teams. When the Suns made the rather public decision several weeks ago to explore what they might be able to get for Amare Stoudemire, Cleveland and Ferry weren't willing to pony up what the Suns want in return -- a young talent on his rookie contract and future first-round pick or an established star that could fit in their up-tempo system. For Cleveland, that would mean giving up J.J. Hickson, which they've been reluctant to do. The Cavs' commitment to defense and having seen the Stoudemire-Shaquille O'Neal combination bomb in Phoenix last season killed the conversation almost from the start. That's why, if Cleveland is re-visiting the idea of acquiring Stoudemire, it can only be for one of several reasons. One, FA-to-be LeBron James wants to play with Amare, because Cleveland has demonstrated they'll do whatever is necessary to keep LeBron happy, at least until he re-signs this summer. Two, their attempts to find another stretch 4 have gone by the wayside. Phoenix also would have had reason to circle back to Cleveland since their attempts to deal Amare to Philadelphia for Andre Iguodala have gone cold. The 76ers, several sources say, have all but pulled Iguodala off the market after aggressively exploring interest in him over the last 10 days. So sources say Cleveland and Phoenix have talked this weekend, and that Stoudemire's name has come up. It's safe to say they have, and it has. Because it's always relatively safe to say, when it comes to Cleveland and Phoenix."

Source: http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/features/rumors

I guess many teams are willing to include a young player and a pick for Amare since he can leave for nothing this summer.

If Cleveland gets Amare for Hickson and an expiring I will be very very salty.

Cleveland next year:

Varejao
Amare
Lebron
MLE signing
Williams

UNREAL.

That team is made to run.
