his mom left him, and his dad raised him. i think the root of his behavior is there. he pushes folks limits to see if they will give up on him. my view is he needs to get some help for this...

his pushing folks buttons leads to to what has been seen, taking things too far, testing folks tolerance of his actions, etc... its becoming self destructive, just to see if folks will turn out like his mom. i could be wrong, though it sure seems like that is what he is doing.

Jeffries and Curry become very attractive February 2011 trade assets if needed - OR - give us massive 2011 cap space.

This on top of course our fairy tale 2010 offseason of landing LeBron and NOT overpaying for Lee to just pay someone for the sake of paying someone - but even so - it doesnt touch 2011.

So you land LeBron in 2010. And use your capspace in 2011 to surround him with a great team. This is FAR better than grabbing Arenas to shoot 40%, play jokes on teammates with guns or by crapping in their shoes, blogging worse than a 7 year old, and ballhogging so badly that any other good player you have never sees the ball.

NO!!!!!!!

Arenas was never a great player. He had some high point outbursts. He had some good months. But overall the guy was as bad as Crawford was in NY. Just add 10FTs per game and that's where you get his PPG over Crawford's. Not to mention his disastrous attitude!

NO THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i agree with this. i think we've seen that when the team is playing like a team, they an win. to some extent, talent becomes secondary to teamwork. the answer is to build a team and then add talent that fits. not to add disparate types of talent and hope they can somehow gel and win. not sure that ever works...note some of the 'dream teams' of recent memory.

With his baggage and the money he his owed, it would be suicide to trade for him. I dont care if they're willing to take Curry, Jeffries, Dolan, beat Howard Eisley's ass...I dont care, no.

Its not even taking into account that ol' Hibachi is coming off a major knee injury. C'mon now.

seriously, WTF is Walsh thinking even considering this option? Gilbert Arenas has 1 of the worst contracts in the game, he's a career knucklehead, a chucker & bad for lockerroom chemistry... & now add 2 past gun offenses to his stellar resume... if Walsh makes this trade he ought to be fired.

it's not Walsh that's considering it, it's the papers who want you to think that he is.

i'll give u that... i probably read too much into this story, but i cringe at the idea that he'd even leave open the possibility... unless he was coming here after a buyout on a veteran's minimum deal, i wouldn't want any part of him right now w/all this crap going on.

I asked Walsh whether he' would sacrifice his 2011 cap flexibility to trade for Arenas. His reply: "I’d have to make that decision at that time. But he’s a very good player."

whenever a bad thing happens to a player off court, the above is exactly what 29 GMs around the league say. Same with Artest, same with SJackson, same with Spree.

His contract runs until 2014, he's always injured and seems to be a little crazy. Pass

I would say that's a canned vanilla response which is politically correct etc. I seriously doubt he would consider bringing in another headcase.

There is no way with MDA as coach that anyone with the character issues/past that Arenas has ends up on the team unless they have an expiring contract and are not in the plans other than for cap clearing.

Arenas' contract is ridiculous. There's no way we should even be thinking about taking a shot on this guy. He's not good enough to warrant his foolishness or his contract at this point.

My god... 2010
pg Arenas
sg Chandler
sf Lebron
pf Gallo
c Lee
If Hill really plays to his size... that is a 6'10 long athletic banger who could give you size and 30 minutes off the bench than thats a 60 win team coached by MDA. With Arena's and Gallo's shooting (Chandler and Lee have pretty good range too) there is no way to defend that team.

Or we can throw money at Jordan Farmer, or bring back Duhon.

This city would embrace and love Arenas. Sorry... but Gilbert's baggage doesnt sniff Sprewell's and he was one of the most popular Knicks. Ever

i disagree... Arenas doesn't play w/half the fire, aggression & intensity that Spree played with, nor does he play the tough defense Spree did that Knick fans loved from day one... Arenas takes a ton of bad shots, is a goofball on & off the floor, has missed a ton of games in recent years due to injury, & plays zero defense... he's also got 1 of the biggest albatross contracts in sports.

Knick fans love guys who play tough D, brings the nastiness on both ends & who they can rely on to be out there giving a max effort every night... Spree brought it... Arenas would score a lot of points on the offensive side if healthy, but he'd also bring a ton of headaches... also as far as i'm aware, Spree was a model teammate on every team he played for, he just didn't get along w/1 coach... Arenas is disliked by his own teammates because of his childish antics & he doesn't demonstrate any desire to grow up anytime soon even after multiple offenses... Spree's offense was a 1 time thing that happened in the heat of the moment & he manned up to what he did & faced the consequences... Arenas joked about what he did & didn't even realize why people were upset over it until David Stern suspended him without pay because of his foolish behavior after the fact... this guy shat in his own teammates sneaker for cripes sake! Arenas would never be able to sniff Sprewell's popularity in NYC.

let's just put it this way... everyone in DC thinks this guy is a joke & are disgusted that they might be stuck w/his contract until 2014.

I would want to see how this whole thing plays itself out before considering Arenas, but we can't put it past us. A roster that includes LeBron, Lee, Gallo, Arenas, Chandler, and Hill is pretty dangerous. You don't want to be the team who makes a huge mistake by picking him up, but depending on what his contract looks like in the future, you wouldn't want to be the team to let him slide to a contender who becomes a dynesty because we didn't want to suck it up and give him a chance. This is something to revisit in the summer, but until then we really can't judge the possibility until we see what the contract and situation looks like.
