He saved the franchise by signing all those great draft picks. Gallo may well turn out to be his best draft pick. I'm pretty sure Zeke still has a role with the organization behind the scenes because he has a propensity for brilliant moves. I'm sure he's the invisible hand guiding Walsh and D'Antoni. I can't see how else you can explain their recent success.

Yep... and as Magic said Zeke was special... And this explaines his love to Steph, Eddy, and Jerom. He loved man with big balls.

i'll give d'antoni props for 2 things:

1 - he has his team playing hard
2 - for some reason, in pheonix and in ny, his teams always dictate the tempo

we'll see if his team can dictate temp tonight against LB and the cats. cats always get the edge somehow. and LB seems to outcoach dantoni.

agreed w/ both of you guys. But this is the first time post Riley/JVG where effort isnt an issue. Sad but true.

Looking forward to this game. I can see us winning like 88-85

+1. Mofo must be smokin some bad crack. That's crazy talk right 'der! No more posting by joo, freaky holfresh.

On topic: MDA has been outstanding. I don't know about any NYK HOF, but he has the fellas playing hella good D and working within a system that is succeeding. I am starting to fall in love with the Donnie/MDA tandem in New York. I hope I don't wake up from this dream to find we have no cap space and Isaiah is still here.

Lebron in 2010 followed by Championship banner in 2012, first of (at least) three over the next decade. You heard it right here!

do you get butterflies in your stomach when you see mda or walsh on tv? b/c if so, then yes, you are definitely in love with them.

When I see Walsh I think:

MDA just looks like a child molester with that stach

Personally, I disagree. This is the best coaching job since Lenny Wilkens, who I felt did an admirable job given the situation

I think its easy to forget Wilkens was the coach, and I agree he did a good job, as did Chaney.

Ummm VanGundy was a better coach for NY than Pa the Rat.

Read the bold and please don't get it twisted

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

Lenny wasnt bad but a) he did nothing very impressive and b) never even coached a whole season.

MDA has a lot of games left to lose this team and hose things, but he's done some things nobody else has really been able to do here. Our young guys in rookie contracts are featured in the rotation ahead of veterans making over $10mm a year and we play hard on both ends every night.

Jesus I hope Im not jinxing us

imho, the best coaching job the past decade was don chaney in 02/03.

dice down for the year in preseason...spree suspended the first 7 or 8 games (where the team was 0-7 i think) and they fought for the final playoff spot all the way down to the final 2 weeks with a frontline of kurt + doleac + othella + spoon.

your a douche... I used to talk about that year like Lampe was playing. They led the league in 3pt%, FT% and had the fewest TOs. They won 37 games with Allan and Spree launching away and Spoon, Harrington and Kurt hitting the boards.

One difference though... ALL those guys were pros. You didnt need to motivate a single one to play hard. So Chaney put them in a good system to compete everynight but he didnt need to prod anyone to play hard. This group needed a lot of lineup shuffles and benchings before the 8 guys that play realized if they didnt defend their minutes would be forfeit

I think MDA is doing the best job since Pat Riley. Why cause Riley actually took us to the next level of competition and we came close to beating Michael and the Bulls. MDA is gradually traying to do the same thing but still need more weapons.

Assiah drafted some of these players but didn't know how to develop or show them how to compete day in,day out.

He had such a bad reputation, Gm's around the league would stay away from making any type of transactions.

2004-05 Knicks

C - Nazr Mohammed / Mo Taylor
PF - Kurt Thomas / Mike Sweetney / Malik Rose
SF - Tim Thomas / Jerome Williams / Trevor Ariza
SG - Jamal Crawford / Penny Hardaway
PG - Stephon Marbury / Moochie Norris
IR - Vin Baker / Bruno Sundov / Jermaine Jackson / Allan Houston / Jamison Brewer / Jackie Butler

actually Isiah ****ed up the team before that. The team you listed is the defunct one that killed Isiah's first chance of good.

It WAS
Marbury
Crawford
KVH
Kurt
Doleac
And that was the team that got us the wins to make the playoffs, and it was a pretty good squad. You had a drive an dish PG and 3-4 bigmen who could drill that jumper all night. Also KVH and Kurt were great rebounders and we defended pretty well also.

More talent? I dont know, but they were a well assembled group, that is all had complimenting skills.

i'll agree w/u on that, the team looked good before the TT/Nazr trade... i'd say that starting 5-wise, the '04-05 Knicks were better overall... but as far as the bench goes, '09-10 Knicks are deeper IMO w/guys like Al Harrington, Nate & Hughes... the Wilkins' Knicks didn't have that type of scoring punch coming off the bench... they had a bunch of professional veterans who played solid defense in JYD, Penny & Malik but none of those guys could take over a game in crunchtime.

Dumbest post I have ever seen from you TMS. Our current bench is deeper??? Can you say Michael Sweetney?? Enough said

I just hope that people will like me

He likes players that can play multiple positions and can all shoot, pass, defend etc. This is what allows him to control tempo. If another team goes big, he can go slightly smaller, still guard you and run your bigs off the court. If a team then goes small he can bring in a larger line-up that can still defend you but can now take it inside and force your smalls off the court. That's the beauty of the versatility that he craves. But this only works if your team is able to defend. Right now we are doing it.

As for the coaching job. 1-9 horrible. Took him 10 games to figure his team out. Since that moment his coaching job has been as good as it gets. I can't argue with one move he's made

I just hope that people will like me
