Jordan Hill has skills & can ball... give him minutes & he'll produce, i have no doubts in my mind about that... he might not be an Allstar calibre prospect right off the bat like Jennings is, but he'll be a good player for us at the 4/5 & bring some much needed elements that we've been missing for a long time, namely shotblocking & a little bit of nastiness in the paint.

Ditto. It is going to be like Atlanta passing on Paul but getting Horford the following year. Yeah, we probably will regret Walsh passing on Jennings, but we still will be happy he picked up Hill. This kid has real confidence in his jumper and seems to know exactly what he wants to do on the low block. I don't recall more than maybe one instance where he was not able to back his man down and get a good shot off. The shot did not always go in, but the kid knows how to work the post with his back to the basket, which is a skill this team is sorely missing. If he can gain about 15 lbs of muscle (b/c right now he is too light) and work on his post moves, this kid will be a solid starter for us.

If I am Walsh, I am packaging Lee and Nate to try to get rid of Curry. A deal of Jeffries, Nate, a second round pick, and $3 mill for Outlaw (expiring) and Bayless should work under the cap, and portland might be interested in a deal like that since Outlaw is hurt.

I would then move Lee to a team like OKC or the Bucks for an expiring and a draft pick. This would open up spots for Douglas and Hill to play heavy minutes this season and get them ready for next year.

Atlanta is trying to capitalize on Bibby's 3 year window vs the 10 yr one they would've had by taking Paul. Also they are now faced with the very real possibility Joe Johnson leaves. Having Paul meant having the possibility of having a long term all nba answer at guard to lead that team and that is the most important aspect of what they did with the draft pick.

as for hill...what will he do when teams force him to make plays for others with the ball?

McK1, I certainly was not saying that Atlanta was happy they passed on Paul. That was a mistake. I was just pointing out that getting Horford lessened hurt. Likewise, we will definitely regret not drafting Jennings, but I think if he works hard, Hill can lessen the hurt from that mistake. Hill has not been asked to really pass out of the post yet, but I have no reason to think that he cannot. Hill really just needs to coaching staff to work with him like they did with Lee to get him comfortable with the passing lanes and options that he will have on the low block and off the pick and roll. That is why it is so important that MDA and Walsh figure out a way to give this kid minutes this year. He needs that development time on the court.

i know what you're saying, but how many bigs have that skill? duncan? kg? not many others.

d'antoni's offense doesn't call for bigs to make too many decisions with the ball - they cut to the hoop or shoot a jumper.

and especially in MDA's offense, the PF/C sets many screens and/or gets ready to hit the outsite shot. Brings the opposing C away from the basket which opens up things for everyone else.

Set screens, hit 15-18 footer, play man-to-man D, help on the weak side. That's what Hill has to be able to do. We know he can shoot it with a bit of distance, the other stuff he gotta learn.

I'll be honest, I have not been too impressed with Jordan Hill. He has nice moves, but he frequently goes up to the hoop weakly. He doesn't seem to give his best effort going up for rebounds in traffic. Actually, he makes Gallinari look like a strong rebounder. His defense isn't that great, and quite frankly, I think his shooting is somewhat overrated. Maybe he runs up and down the court well, but other than that, I'm trying to figure out how he's an "energy player."

this a terrible way to develop big men.

Welcome to the new era of basketball. Most young bigs entering the league are face-up players who hang out on the perimeter....

we really need to find a suitable situation for Lee & Nate to be shipped cuz it's becoming painfully obvious to me that neither of them will be Knicks after this season is over... if we could use them to dump Curry or Fishlips' contract for an expiring at this point, u have to do it.

After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.
