I think he is protecting his coach again. D'Antoni's pimp hand has gotten the Knicks a broke down 20 year old with the 6th pick, Duhon and no A.I.

Um, WHY? Why cant he take his own time to think it through, discuss it with the coach and then make a decision?? You guys just take a position on something and then evrything else just becomes gravy right? If Walsh had sneezed during the press interview you would claim swine flu has adddled his brain so he didn't take Iverson becuase of that.

Dude, swine flu has riddled his brain. LOL.

I have no problem with Walsh carefully thinking through decisions. I just disagree with the decisions he is reaching. IT was willing to take too many risks, and Walsh seems unwilling to take any.

If we were in a situation where MDA was going to play TD heavy minutes and they decided that playing TD was more important than bringing in AI, I can possibly understand that decision. But MDA has not played TD much, and now that Nate is back, it looks like MDA does not plan to play TD much at all, while DuDu is still getting 30 minutes a game. If that is the situation, then why pass on AI.

Simply put, either Walsh never had any intention of signing him and merely went through a song and dance or Walsh let Dolan punk him into backing off AI.

Don't overlook this part. I think this is why he's not saying he's committed to these players. Showcase and ship out?

i think he's talking about possibly sleeping in a hammock, or moving onto a comfortable futon...possible even a lay-z-boy recliner.

lol.. Oh wait, nyk4ever already said that. Never mind.

I TRIED TO WARN YOU!!!!

Knicks president Donnie Walsh has explained why the team passed on signing free-agent guard Allen Iverson.

The team opted not to sign Iverson late Thursday night after Walsh, coach Mike D'Antoni and owner James Dolan exhausted the possibility.

"It did get interesting for a while because Allen's a great player and has always been a great player," Walsh said. "You're 1-9 and you're thinking, 'We've got to get some help in here.' But when we rethought it and I talked to Mike and he talked to me, we feel that could hurt our development of the future, and so we want to go the way we're going.

"There will be other things we can do during the year that will be more in line with what our philosophy has been entering into this. And I want to really make it clear that this has nothing to do with Iverson. He's a great player, I've always admired him. I think he'd be a great addition for a team that is in a different position than we're in, and I hope he gets picked up."

Iverson was waived by the Grizzlies on Tuesday and became an unrestricted free agent on Thursday evening.

Their philosophy right now ain't working and D'Antoni is on his way to having a worse record that Zeke. As a matter of fact the worst record in this franchise history. There are rumors about Gallo's back. That ain't good. There are other rumors that he had some back problems when we drafted him and if thats true Walse and D'Antini needs to own up.

I want to get rid of bad deals (i.e., Eddie and JJ). I want to preserve as much flexibility as possible. I believe FAs will be stoked about our situation (i.e., $27mil to $45+ mil in cap space this summer depending on trades this season). What's not to like? That means we will have 4 solid young players and more than half of our salary cap to spend. If we deal Eddie this season, that's nearly $40mil this summer to acquire talent. That's two max FAs and then some. Take that with the four guys we got signed and you've got a serious team and definite contender, especially in our weak ass division.

Lastly, I want to be entertained by Knicks games this year. If Curry gets into game shape and kicks arse, I think we may be onto something good, like a mini-win streak. Maybe even playoffs. We'll see.

Look what numbers Rubio is putting up overseas. And you tell me is he really NBA quality?

Maybe you can sit back and enjoy loosing 60 games. This team is alread disfunctional you don't have to blame it on Iverson. I beleive something is fishy about this whole thing. All those stars are gonna think twice about coming to New york under this sorry run and no gun system. D'Antoni has showed me nothing. So far he is not doing a good job.

I think you try to get better if you can--you cant make people pay a whole season of tickets based on trying to get another team to bite on Eddy Curry or Jeffries salary. People are mad because Duhon is not the superior player at the position and don't see how it will hinder development. Mike D is already good at that--just look at how many minutes Hill has played. In our win the other night--impact from the young guys-Chandler=0 I think it would have been better to lose because it cost the team AI. Whatever is going to happen in FA has nothing to do with AI--in fact maybe AI wouldve signed really cheap if he liked it here and fit in well. Unless we hit the FA jackpot we could really sck again next year.

The goal is to get the best players for the long term and to build a contender team. The Goal is NOT about making fickleminded fans happy everytime they change their mind on something. Last year people were so high on Chandler, they couldn't stop gushing about him. Now after 6-7 games where he has not been stellar almost everybody is willing to see him traded. The coach hates selfish players why dd we expect them to sign AI? If cheap thrills for 60 games is all people care about then what was really wrong with Igayuh?

This decision on AI has no impact on the future you say? How about introducing one of the most selfish players in the NBA into a team where the coach is trying to build a culture of unselfish play? But no lets not worry about all that, let's focus on cheap thrills and the next 60 games.

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!
