Because this is only his 2nd year. You need to give a coach and his system at least 3 years. No D Lee has been showing us his defensive abilities for a long time and it has not improved.
You need to give the coach good players as well before thinking about tossing him aside. The need for some fans to rip Walsh and Mike D because we stink this year is just disgraceful. There is a plan in place. It's so simple to understand it. Yet the people seeing red over starting 1-9 you have to start to question their understanding of the situation - or refusal to do so actually.
1) Tear down roster
Result short term: TEAM WILL SUCK
2) Build new team (this starts next summer)
3) Add to new team (this continues into the 2011 summer
4) COMPETE WITH THE TOP TEAMS (this begins with the 2011-2012 season)
What is so hard to understand I will never know.
But, yeah, let's fire Walsh, fire Mike, re-hire Isiah, trade back for Zach, Craw, re-sign Marbury and Q and Jerome, etc. Then maybe some people will be happy again.
LOL.

As to disappointments?
Lee has reached his ceiling as a player. I hinted at this last year when I noted he was getting physically slower and more grounded. This will continue. It has also been discussed at length that he is very one dimensional and that his double doubles are fools gold tricking people into forgetting that he gives up double doubles on the other end.
He has to go.
Nate? Nate has been Nate and that means adios.
Harrington? Who cares. Don Nelson was right "He thinks he's a superstar. He's not." Good riddance.
Chandler? This guy has also peaked as a player. Ship him out to get rid of Jeffries or Curry.
Douglas and Gallo have impressed.
Hill has disappointed (mostly in attitude/demeanor) but it's still early for him as well.
The four players I'd accept on the team next year:
Somewhat: Chandler
Willing to give some time: Hill
Absolutely want back: Douglas, Gallo
Everyone else can go to hell.
