good post.. I find it funny how some say they are not concerned with other teams, yet they are concerned with the players they drafted...

scott skiles is one of the harder coaches to play for and he isn't having a problem with jennings.

skiles played and knows the pg position as well as any. i'll take his ability to judge if a guy can run a team over dantonis every day of the week.

Ag ain Jennings had 1 of the most prolific high school careers ever. If not for the age rule he'd have gone lotto. a 19 yr old from compton going half way around the world to prepare to be a pro should have not come under the statistical scrutiny he did. skiles called his old teammate from michigan state that played with Jennings out in Italy for firsthand knowledge to solidify his decision, whom did NY talk too.

What makes Skiles a better judge of what MDA wants and needs in a PG than MDA himself? McK1 that has to be one of the dumbest things anyone has ever said to me. This isn't about Jennings, it's about MDA and what he wants and needs as coach of the team. Walsh feels he has his coach and he's gonna give him what he needs. They likely both felt that he wasn't the guard for them. Sure he looks spectacular now on his team, but that doesn't mean that he's the right guard going forward for this team. I'm not gonna get all crazy over the kid. I've been watching BB long enough to have seen a lot of kids with his skills and it doesn't guarantee greatness or winning BB.

where did I say Skiles is a better judge of what mda wants? wtf r u talking about!?! Anyway maybe I'm reading what you wrote wrong but it seemed you are implying jennings is/was neither smart or compliant and thats why MDA wasn't interested. In reply to that I trust Skiles ability to judge a pg more than D'amnphoney.

My opinion on the Jennings issue and it is likely a very ignorant one is the hick from west virginia had him stereotyped from day one and thats why there was only a feigned interest and no in depth scouting was actually done.

furthermore in regards to what mda wants: he hand picked du du and gave marcus banks 4 yrs 24 mil when he was his own gm in phoenix

My Point is that you said you'd take Skiles PG evaluating skills over MDA's as if this was a purely simplistic case of judging where someone should be drafted relative to their talent, but that's not what is most important here. AI has more talent than most players but that doesn't make him the right fit for every team. It's quite possible that both Walsh and MDA felt he wasn't what they were looking for just like they did with Bayless or any other Guard they've passed on. It's not a pure talent thing and it's not a case of one PG fits all. Skiles views dont factor in since he's not MDA and doesn't look at the same things in the same way.

As for Duhon, you have to understand that this wasn't a best case scenario as if he would pick him over all other PG's if available. The way you make it sound you'd think we had this long list of great PG options that would be willing to play on a 2 yr. contract. Please don't use such simplistic tactics to try and make your point. Besides, Duhon was playing just fine fr much of the season. I don't know what's going on in his head right now, but he was playing the way we needed at one point. Not to mention that he's not the permanent solution anyway. Banks wasn't added to replace MDA's #1, but to back him up and it was a gamble that didn't work out. No one is ever perfect in every move they make. Once again I think it's a bogus thing to use against MDA. Jennings may prove to be a guy who could do what MDA needed, but that wasn't fully evident before the draft.

the draft is very much about the talent available to you when you pick and what the team picking needs. Quite frankly Duhon and his if I can't get it to Lee then I'm going to launch 28 ft 3's are not getting it done on the court or off (are there any ny games being nationally televised this year?)

AI put a franchise on his back both on the court and commercially giving the city of Philadelphia a sustained taste of winning and a trip to the Finals while making the Sixers the NBA Reebok and othr corporate sponsors millions. If Jennings as a personality reminds you of AI then thats even a bigger indictment against W'Altoni for not taking him.

On the court AI was a guy who felt he needed to put up a ton of shots and score alot of points to give his teams the best chance to win, Jennings is a guy out there making sure his team stays aggressive and keeps attacking offensively. With Redd out, him and Bogut are carrying the team scoring wise but guys like Ilyasova Delfino Meeks Bell Warick Mbah a Matou are all involved in the offense & not just standing around watching Jennings iso all game.

prior to the draft everyone had questions about Jennings that 1 mini-camp in Europe likely would not have answered. jennings worked out against the other top pgs in that draft city to city and afterwards Skiles sought answers from someone with first hand knowledge to fill in the blanks about what happened in Europe.

we had david lee, al harrington, acquiring darko was in the pipes, donnie held on to jeffries...however in the backcourt all we had was the stop gap du-du and nate (whom this organization doesn't believe is a full time pg). what to do at 8 seemed rather simple to me. Even if they have Lawson rated highest there, at least it gives the appearance they drafted with more than well Lebron will save us on their mind.

the stop underrating David Lee movement 1. FIRE MIKE 2. HIRE MULLIN 3. PAY AVERY 4. FREE NATE!!!

Lawson wasn't even the best guard in the ACC The only guard I thought I might prefer to Douglas in the draft was Flynn. Rubio there was enough talk of to make me think about but not with a 5 million dollar buyout. I didn't know enough about Jennings...but then it's not my job to. He looks a nice piece with good vision and flair.

Hill is definetely showing improvement and the combine numbers prove Walsh's and D'Antoni's reasoning. He gets stronger and understands the game better he has a very high cieling. I would like to see some more aggressiveness on his part. D' seems to like to give his rooks more minutes on the road for some reason ;-) Fragile confidence building?

There is much more at play here than we are party to. I'd look for some moves soon.
It's anyones guess as to what Eddie curry's impact will be. I did not like Darko sitting while Horford muscled in down low as the game went away in the last ten minutes. Seems Lee could have set his feet and taken a charge. He doesn't get any charge calls does he?

Bill Simmons on Tyreke Evans "The prototypical 0-guard: Someone who handles the ball all the time, looks for his own shot, gets to the rim at will and operates best if his teammates spread the floor to watch him."

Folks,

It's only been 9 games for crying out loud. Once Hill get some playing time on the court, we'll see what he's made out of.

I honestly believe Hill is going to be a really good player for the knicks. He's one of those players that woulnd't need too much time to develop.

The Future. GO KNICKS!
