You could bash MDA over this but if the team was knocking down shots this wouldn't come up! Losing breeds all kinds of discontent. They just need a win.

I do agree that if you plug the right players into a system it will work. I also know I'd rather the coach who will be here for the long haul needs to set up his system regardless of the talent he has NOW - because the NEW talent needs to join the team with a SET SYSTEM.

However, this system is broke if all it is meant to do is just jack 3's. There has to be room for switching it up. When you saw Darko post up flawlessly you need to keep doing that until it doesn't work. When you know that Gallo and Al can and do post up well - you need to use that. You can't just do this CHUCKING crap all game long.

If anything, those post plays mix things up, and allows your CHUCK game to get even more open looks by keeping the defense honest!

Something has to give here....and we also have to remember that Mike fell into the PERFECT roster of players for his system. It's going to be VERY tough to duplicate that.

Another thing: LeBron's game and defensive philosophy doesn't fit Mikes. Just...food for thought.

I think you are right. I posted a thread on why i think Gallo should post up more and so should Harrington--maybe even Chandler if he is playing2 and has a small G on him. What is easier a 30 footer or when you have a physical advantage over someone at 3-4 feet?

Just remember this tho, MDA has probably forgotten more about BB than we currently know!!! I mean this guy didn't just wake up one day and get his job by default. He paid his dues and won in Europe and came here and just left a team that he avg'd 58 wins with! The guys teams NEVER looked like we see this team playing right now. His teams were marked by the most innovative and efficient offense the league has seen in years. When you have your team running at 50% that's without running post ups all day, that's saying something about just how good your offense is. And before we go crazy about the talent he had, let's just remember that Amare wasn't a great shooter at first, Nash was never as efficient or dangerous as he was until MDA and he made the career of Raja and Diaw, who were nobodies before him.

It's that MDA that we'll see once we get this team's roster improved. I actually expect this team to get better this year as well. It's gonna take some time to teach the young players how to win and for him to figure out just how he needs to use these guys. If you notice these things, don't assume that MDA and his entire coaching staff don't see the same things. We just don't know what he's asking his players to do and if they're just not executing.

imho...mda is a 2010 signing too b/c of his name and guys on team USA like him...and alot of them are free agents in 2010. i don't think he's done any better a job than any other coach in this league over the past 12 months. iniitally, people thought he changed the culture and is coaching a "system". anyone after isiah was removed would've changed the culture. he has a team w/o 3 point shooters taking 37 3 pointes a game - that's being stubborn and not coaching his players. sorry but that's the facts. well either stubborn or downright apathetic. that's why trying to analyze anything is fruitless, giving him props is fruitless, or getting attached to any of these guys is fruitless. it all comes down to who they sign in free agency next summer. i would assume 90-95% of this roster will be different within 1.5 years.

objectives this season for the knicks:

1. shed more salary
2. hope gallo's healthy
3. the end

The curse of Herb Williams!

If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.
Props to Duhan
