i'm giving Donnie 1 more year... he made every move with 2010 in mind, if he fails to bring in a stud to build this team around by then, then his plan has failed as far as i'm concerned... i would have wanted to clear off the crap contracts anyway, so i'm glad Donnie went the way that he did, but u can't sell a franchise & its entire fanbase on a singular plan for 3 years & not have it come to fruition & consider it a success.

Yea, and then what? you want to hire Isiah again? You realize that Donnie spent 15+ years in Indiana, never won a chip, but is still a respected GM in the league.

You can't sell the fans a singular plan for 3 years? But what can you sell them? No play for 7 years? I don't understand. every knick fan should thank their lucky heavens that we have a plan-- this is much more important than anything else. also, it's not like we were a dynasty...we're a very mediocre, average team over the last 20, 30 years.
WE AIN'T NOWHERE WITH THIS BUM CHOKER IN CARMELO. GIVE ME STARKS'S 2-21 ANY DAY OVER THIS LACKLUSTER CLUSTEREFF.

if after 3 years we're stuck w/a roster who's best player is David Lee & no superstar to build around, then hell yes it's a failure... who the hell said anything about hiring Isiah? he had his chance & failed... Donnie came in to fix the mess & to an extent, he's done that, but just clearing cap space is not enough to consider him a success in NY... sooner or later he's gonna have to produce results in terms of wins, just having a plan doesn't mean jack sheit unless u see some tangible results sooner or later, & if that doesn't happen then yeah, he'd be a failure... only a moron would see it otherwise.

agree with TMS. gotta give Donnie a little more time. not much more time. he's had two offseasons, two drafts, and one deadline. too early to pass judgment. not too many new GM's have turned teams around in that little time. in fact, i can't think of one new GM who turned a team like ours around in that little time. anyone?

i would add: next year - this coming summer - is really the first year where Donnie will be out from under the nonsense of Isiah. Bip had mentioned 3-5 years for a turnaround given the circumstances, and that does seem to make sense.

This team is disgraceful, period. You can't even look at any of our guys objectively anymore. We have dumb collection of players out there that don't know how to play the game.

I am not really giving Walsh time or credit for anything at this point.

1. Crawford and Zach were both traded after this offseason by their respective clubs so let's not call those mind blowing moves.
2. Nate and Jefferies I don't even know what to say here, no one made Nate an offer during the offseason so we could have signed him this summer even after the trade.
3. Gallo
4. Hill
5. Moving up in the draft with chandler (I would have taken Flynn) Chandler/Jefferies for James and the #5 perhaps

I really want to like Gallo. I think he has winning qualities but he is so limited as a player it's scary. He is slow, can't jump and isn't much of a defender. He can shoot and that will come, but if he can't create and if he is going to float around I don't really see how you could **** this pick up so bad. Lopez is an All-Star this season in the east he does everything that we wanted from hill.

I just don't see what the plan is here. We don't have any pieces in place aside from Lee and Chandler. Briggs, Blair was obviously the selection to make late in the first round

Hill looks physically weak and has no idea how to play. I don't need to wait on a guy drafted 8.

I have no problem waiting and obviously as fans we have been waiting for a long time. But we have four players that essentially are supposed to be building blocks and they all basically play a similiar position.

If I was a Lakers fan or fan of some other team who followed the NBA and you asked me what I thought about the Knicks and their recent moves I would probably say something close to what MS just typed. The big miss was Brook Lopez. He's the long defensive center that makes putting Lee at PF a GREAT frontcourt. Terrible non move and that sets us back many many years. Lopez will get exposed a bit and might just be another Bogut or Al Horford (good but not great) but thats totally OK. Thats a frontcourt you can build around. A defensive 5 and a 4 that gives you 15/12/55% everynight and can handle and pass like Lee does.

I hate to say its going to be a loooooong year but what have I seen to tell me otherwise?

Didn't Al Harrington talk this off-season about averaging 5 assists a game this year? He's gonna be closer to 5 assists per TEN games!

could be walsh thinking exactly but imho unless walsh has a secret signed lebron contract you draft derozan. nothing is real unless signed. boozer gets grief for signing the best deal but thats business you sign-- till signatures none of it is real.

Fish I live in Boston, you would be very surprised at how they view the Knicks. They still think we suck and they still think we are soft. But the majority of the papers up here say things like "the Knicks aren't an easy victory anymore" "Walsh has the team going in the right direction". Heinsohn loves both Gallo and Chandler. After the Knicks game against Boston Gorman said he has a feeling that if Gallinari turns out to be what the Knicks expect that they have a real shot of making the playoffs. Most of my friends are the same way. They still think we suck but many have mentioned they would love to have Lee, Chandler and Harrington. It's not until you get out of NY that you realize that the rest of the world isn't all doom and gloom about us. We just tend to overanalyze and overreact to our teams because we love them.
