the guy changes our team defense when he's on the floor. His ability to challenge shots all over the floor makes us MUCH better. The problem is rebounding. His numbers are always going to be mediocre because he's off challenging shots, not camping out in the paint and bloxing out. We need Amare, Melo and the rest to do that.

JJ is a very good role player and a great fit.

and guys totally lacking short term memory were dogging him out and calling him useless. Man up and admit you were wrong!
the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

We have a veteran team with two young stars and a third one that is our "maestro" leader. We need guys willing to give us defense, rebounding and versatility. We also need guys at really small contracts.

Right now he fits every need the Knicks had. Yeah, he isn't a center, but he can actually give us the same or even more than a guy like SF Shawne Williams at 6'9" at Center.

Glad he came back!

I would've went with a different player in a heartbeat but hey, maybe he'll manage to contribute something..He was very active last night when he was out there, I'll give him that..It's just funny reading Berman this morning that the Knicks are still on the lookout for a big, maybe even Earl Barron if he doesn't last long with the Bucks, even after adding Jeffries...Just goes to prove they don't look at him as your typical inside banger-type big man, which I'm glad because he's not...Interior muscle and rebounding is still a problem that remains..

was at the game last night and the crowd at one point was chanting his name. I like him but i don't think he can make a layup. but that's not why we brought him back and i think he's going to make some significant contributions on the defensive end.

They really looks at him as some kind of uber defender that can guard all 5 positions REALLY WELL and I just don't see that...I think that's drastically overstating what he is but we'll have to see...I'll be rooting for him to make his mark every game like everyone else, no doubt about that..

For the 3-5 shots he will probably see on a heavy day of work, Jeffries nor us have to worry about him shooting. Its not like we have to rely on him to shoot on a tied game.

yes and i am exaggerating but i've seen him miss many uncontested put-ins underneath the basket. but he can defend and grab rebounds.

I was at the game yesterday, and JJ got rejected by the rim on a practice shot.
Its not a big exaggeration, Slim.

My eyes hurt from this thread. They may be bleeding. Kind of like when I watch JJ2 play.
I just can't believe what I'm reading.

Jared is a defensive glue guy. He fills in so much space and has great range and instincts. People that can't see that are blind. It would be great to have a Deandre Jordan on the team, but that kind of guy wasn't available. As a role player Jared is perfect. He knows his strengths and weaknesses and plays within himself. Hopefully Donnie can draft a stud for us this summer. Right now I like what Jared brings to this team.

Moreover he REALLY wants to be here. He never wanted to leave and Mike never really wanted to trade him. Jared fits perfectly into what Mike wants to do on D. Keep teams on the perimeter taking contested Jumpers. He gets into the passing and driving lanes and keeps guys from using them to penetrate the D. That is perfect MDA defense. His length is a problem for shooters and he's quick and agile enough to stay in the way and force a shot over him.

yeah i think we're all in agreement that he is back strictly for defensive purposes only...

Ok, he had a positive impact out there against the Whore-nets. He tapped the ball out to his teammates, he got a few boards, including one where he was surrounded by the Canary-yellow jerseys. He tried to take a charge, but the refs were asleep, like they have been the whole season while calling our games. He also had 3 turnovers(same as Tony D) and the only 2 guys who had more were Amare and Carter with 4 each. Perhaps when he gets more comfortable he woun't turn it over as much, but I dunno, we'll see. He had an assist ! And, drumroll pls, his biggest contribution was that he only took one shot. Overall he had one of his best games as a Knick. On this team, he looks sooo much better than the last time he played for us. The Whore-nets frontline is nothing special, we still easily win this without him. And we still lose to Orlando with him.(if everyone else played the same) He does fill a big need for us tho and he could revitalize his career here. I hope he does
