In that scenario would Lee have to have signed the one year qualifying offer to not count against the cap in 2010?

yes, we'd have to renounce lee and his bird rights to get cap room.

that's why i think donnie is trying to move jared jefferies - so he can sign lee and sessions past 2010.

I love how quiet it is as far as Lee, Sessions, and Nate. No news is good news seems to apply here-- further testament that Donnie is wise, patient, and not panicked or rushed.

WE AIN'T NOWHERE WITH THIS BUM CHOKER IN CARMELO. GIVE ME STARKS'S 2-21 ANY DAY OVER THIS LACKLUSTER CLUSTEREFF.

I wonder what scenario LeBron would find most attractive:

(1) Ramon Sessions, our young core (Gallo, Hill, Chandler, Douglas) and the rest minimum wage filler

(2) A resigned Nate, the core and filler

(3) A resigned Darko (say he played halfway decent under D'Antoni & showed he's not a scrub), a promising 2 guard prospect above minimum wage (say we add Morris Almond and choose to retain him or someone similar), and maybe a resigned Tskitishvili (ditto Darko) or another promising young big at slightly above minimum wage, the core and filler

I guess, gun to his head, knowing he could only have one of these scenarios, he'd prob. say go get me Sessions and we'll fill in the rest of the blanks later.

No doubt, but unless we can suddenly come up with a way to move Curry or Jeffries, I think Lee's a goner. Even if he chooses to come back this year (where hopefully Donnie antes up a fair 1-yr. deal for him in good faith), we won't be able to resign him next year and also bring James here right? I asked this very question a couple of weeks ago and a few guys were saying that there's no way we could sign James and then go over the cap to retain Lee as well. Some seemed to think that there's no way to circumvent the cap like that...

The reason we don't have an offer on ther table for Sessions, IMO, is that Donnie is again looking somewhere else. Maybe Rubio?? Maybe a S&T for Nate???or Lee?? or a trade involving Jeffries for a guard in return?? So I am content to let Donnie do his work and then comment on what he did....or didn't do. Now it is all just speculation.....as is this post. :-)
