And since it is still misunderstood, I'm not talking about images in general.

I'm talking about an ongoing thread where someone posts just a random picture to it and that's the end of that thread. Then it's just picture posting and grab ass going on after that initial picture. Whereas the thread which was good is suddenly toast. Whereas you might reply to a post a few posts ahead of that image, scroll down, and find your legit convo oriented post suddenly sandwiched inbetween multiple one-liner image posts.

So before you guys get the lynch mob after me at least understand the exact context of my gripe instead of making it out to be suggesting no image posting and no fun at all. I'm talking about legit convo ending the moment one of these real-gm-esque-fail pictures are posted in response and then others follow that post instead of going back on topic.

It makes you wonder, should I even bother in a conversation, because it will probably be drowned by a random picture posting frenzy? If you guy's don't understand the exact context of my gripe then I don't know what to tell you. Stop lumping it into some broader crusade to stop all images or all fun. That's not the issue at all. The issue is threads dead ending the moment someone posts some of these foolish Real-GM-Kiddi-Esque-FAIL pictures in response to someone's post - instead of actually replying to them in any manner.

I mean, It's not my forum, and it's not my place to tell anyone what to do, I was merely brining it to the attention of all, that recently it has gone from an occasional funny post to a flood of garbage dead ending threads daily now. I like posting here, I like reading here, but if it trends to that kiddie atmosphere of RealGM, where you waste your time replying to a topic only to see it drowned in a flood of stupidity, then that would suck and that's exactly where it's headed, rapidly, in just a few days.

And, Greek, yes it is becoming like RealGM in that effect, you've done it a few times and it tends to happen minutes after someone does it on RealGM - with the same exact images. So I'd expect you to understand the point more than anyone, actually. You just did it two posts back, copying two images from a stupid RealGM thread, now you've gotten a first hand account of the idiocy of RealGM, and you want to bring that here? Not sure why....

Now, I've explained myself as best I can, if you guys can't understand the point I'm making, or wish to lump it into some huge crusade that doesn't exist, then **** it, have at it.

i've never even checked out the RealGM forums... i post lots of pics on threads, not to ruin them but to add some comic relief during times of tension or boredom... how many times can u guys sit & discuss the same exact things over & over again? what is there to discuss this offseason? what free agents we're gonna sign with no cap space? Jordan Hill & Toney Douglas have been analyzed ad nauseum based on limited SL action... the 2010 cap situation has been dissected, eaten, digested & shat out so many times at this point it's ridiculous... D Lee & Nate's contract situations have been fully discussed, there's nothing left to say until they sign them or we see these guys walk... so unless you wanna hear about the latest UK poster who got Allanfan'd last weekend, or how the Yankees or Mets are doing cross town, what's wrong w/a little T&A in the Alba threads, or some funny pic posting to pass the time while we bust on each other on threads? as long as it doesn't get disrespectful i don't see an issue w/it, but that's just me.

i'm not trying to paint u as some kinda grinch Cosmic, u know that... i enjoy your presence on these forums, you post thoughtful comments most of the time & your vid clips are a valued contribution always... even tho u still can't admit your love for Jamal you're OK in my book.

I've done what a few times? Ruin threads with images? LOL. I've never taken anything from RealGM and used it here until this thread. Ever.

As soon as Bip installs the feature that shows which threads a user has posted in I'll do just that.

You? Never ruin threads in a RealGM style? Haven't brought over the infectious silliness of RealGM in either usage of images as replies or being overly abrasive towards users? Nah, not you, you're right. I must have been thinking of someone else. Selective memory I suppose.

Nobody here has seen a thread ruined or complained to me about ruining a thread so yes, my friend, selective memory it is.

I think people understand and sometimes the pictures are used a little inappropriately. However, the ability to turn images OFF is what I find most helpful, because people probably aren't going to change when they how and use pictures. If I view ultimateknicks at work, the first thing I do is turn images OFF. Before we got that feature, I had the same complaints as you.

Here's the problem with that thrice offered solution: Turning off images doesn't stop a thread from being derailed by the posting of said images. It just removes the images not restore the thread's conversation.

It really would help if people were up to reading a post in full so they could comprehend what the post is about. I guess this is asking far too much however.


Let's make it as simple as kindergarten then.

1. Nice thread with good convo.
2. User posts stupid FAIL picture in convo.
3. Other users stop posting good convo and focus on or try to out do FAIL picture.
4. Thread is destroyed.

Is that easier to follow?

If not, I give up entirely.

I think we should just stop stringing words into coherent sentences and just post pictures instead.
