I would rather rely on Douglas, who is showing that he is committed to being a pg.
Everyone knows he can score... he's one of the best scorers in CBB. You can see his primary focus is getting guys the ball and you have to appreciate that mentality from a player who was the go-to scorer for his team

Marcus Williams has been better than any of the drafted picks in this SL. He is good enough[and only 23] to be a rotational NBA player at a position of need for the Knicks for cheap. We don't have a barrier to entry to acquyire him--it will simply take a 2 year 2mm+ contract with a 3rd year option--and why not he's has played like a lotto pick--this is a discount. We can sit and beg Andre Miller to play for us for 1 year for 6mm and when he finally juices us--we are stuck at peg 1. I said for the Knick to pick up Anthony Morrow last summer--how did that turn out? Think we couldve used him?

Simply pick up the phone--offer the guy 2 years locked with a 3 year team option if he takes it now.
What exactly is my downside? The Knicks are slow because we have a 67 year old GM.

Knicks just acquired a guy who has a GREAT work ethic and has shown that he can run the team as a 3 guard. He also plays both ends of the court.

Remind me again why they should give someone else with a not-so-good history a guaranteed contract?

I think Walsh is trying to change the culture of the team, and without some strong vets on there right now, adding a guy like Marcus ain't gonna ever happen. Guys like Balkman were jettisoned for a reason.

What history is that--can you let me in on it? That he and AJ price pranked a laptop in college 4+ years ago from the womens basketball team? Whoa---seems like AJ Price was the forgotten man who actually started that. I have never heard from anyone that Marcus was a bad guy at Uconn--if you make one minor mistake in college--that shouldnt label you a bad guy. He asked to be let go from the GS Warriors so he could get 40 minutes a night in the LA league[of which he was MVP]. He played well in NJ until he hurt his foot which took a year to heal. What character problem am I missing? He got himself in great shape and he's leading his SL team to a 3-0 record and playing as well or better than any drafted PG this year. the last time I looked we have holes--I wouldnt say his name if I didnt think he could help the Knicks I dont care if hes from Uconn or not. I think he can be a core rotational player and help the team--bottom line.

This is NOT the situation or the team for a guy with baggage to come in and prove himself.

Im sorry can you enlighten me---what baggage does Marcus Williams have? because Ive never heard of any.

His baggage is that he has been loafing around too long, he's not at the cusp of the NBA's collective move forward.

His baggage is his suckiness.

The same scky guy that Bryan Colangelo was trying to acquire a second lottery pick to draft? the same sucky guy who is averaging 15-9-4 with his team 3-0? The same guy who abused Toney Douglas to the hoop time and again the other day to win the game?

Alright, I didn't know all of that. My mistake; a mistake of inadequate research, and, subsequently, speech (or text) based on this inadequacy

Lampe led in the summer league too... won rocky mountain review all first team.

He will probably catch on somewhere, have a few good games which will prompt a flood of new threads from you posting box scores, etc. Then he will be replaced, pout, get overweight and vanish into obscurity.

Frank Williams and Lavar Postell both had 20 point games for the Knicks. And that was in the NBA

Yes, it's a shame the Knicks didn't properly develop those two. They were both potential all-stars on the rise.

One guys take:

Top rookie performers in summer league
By David Thorpe
Scouts Inc.
Archive

Through 10 days, three gyms and 44 games in the NBA's Orlando and Las Vegas summer leagues, here are the 10 best rookie performers I've seen, and a few who could end up cracking this group before the Vegas league finishes Sunday.

This listing is based only on what I've seen in the two leagues; it is not the "Rookie of the Year" standings but rather my impressions from the past two weeks.

The full offseason rookie rankings are coming soon.

Top 10

1. Blake Griffin, Clippers
There is nothing left for Griffin to prove this summer. He is the most talented rookie and he plays the hardest, too; an exceptional combination. Veterans around the league should take note: This is not your typical rookie, and he'll provide them with bruises and posterizing moments to prove it.

2. James Harden, Thunder
He plays like a 10-year vet -- nothing is rushed or forced -- and he was the best passer on the floor every time he suited up. Factor in his ability to shoot, score and make plays on both sides of the ball, and the case can be made that he should have gone No. 2 overall in the draft.

3. Tyreke Evans, Kings
Can he crush opponents as a scorer? Yes. Is he a triple-double threat? Yes. Will he have a chance to break some kind of rookie free throws-per-game record? Perhaps. Sure, Evans has a lot to learn about playing the point guard position, but with his enormous talent, he's starting with very high expectations.

4. Tyler Hansbrough, Pacers
He was not the most efficient scorer in Orlando, but those of us who watched him know just how effective he was for the Pacers. His energy not only hurt his opponents, but inspired his teammates.

5. DeMar DeRozan, Raptors
Smooth and patient, with explosiveness and a sweet jumper. I love how DeRozan rarely dribbled himself into trouble and how crafty he proved to be around the hoop. And he rebounded and defended, too. He looks like he'll be able to contribute earlier than expected.

6. Tony Douglas, Knicks
I've tried to avoid citing statistics in summer league because I'm not sure they are that accurate, but I've witnessed Douglas' masterful execution of the Knicks' offense: 22 assists to just two turnovers so far. He has also shown the defensive chops everyone talked about before the draft.

7. DaJuan Summers, Pistons
He is sneaky good and played intelligently all week. He was outstanding in three of his four games in Vegas, where he wasn't focused just on scoring.

8. Austin Daye, Pistons
It's fair to suggest that Joe Dumars had an excellent draft. Daye is talented, as everyone knew, but he's also tougher than he looks. His biggest problem -- turnovers -- is mostly a result of his lack of strength. But when he gets bigger, watch out.

9. Darren Collison, Hornets
He easily could have been in the top six of this list. I love how he controlled his team and created all sorts of scoring opportunities for his teammates. He also played really well with Marcus Thornton -- the two rooks have potential as a backcourt tandem off the bench this season.

10. Jodie Meeks, Bucks
Meeks earned bucket after bucket this week, from near and far. He has a powerful body and a pure shooter's stroke. And he plays with supreme confidence.

Honorable mentions

DeJuan Blair, Spurs
Blair was a beast among the rookies, as expected. He manhandled people inside and finished shots with ease.

Stephen Curry, Warriors
Yes, he shot poorly and had terrible shot selection. But he found other ways to contribute (defense, rebounding and passing), and never lost his confidence.

Chase Budinger, Rockets
He was the hottest shooter in Vegas, from inside and outside the arc. If he learns to rebound and make plays on defense, he has a chance to be the steal of the draft.

Marcus Thornton, Hornets

Thornton needs lots of shots to score, but he is an excellent basketball player with supreme confidence. On both sides of the ball.

he put Meeks on there but left the guy who set him up for alot of those buckets off.
SMH

Jennings 15 and 8 with 4 stls. Bucks went 4-1...Jennings hit the game winner against the Kings.

to help him with the off the court aspect of the job he has a media coach. novel idea the bucks came up with...help a player we've invested in correct his issues instead of leave him prey to the media and fans

Buddinger is a 2/3 and an athletic freak. Scalabrine is a 4/5 with a bad body and good outside shot. I wish the Knicks found a way to get Buddinger. I think he will be a very good pro and would have done great in the system the Knicks run now.

I haven't followed the summer league as closely as I usually do but I heard/read somewhere that Jennings turned the ball over alot. If thats accurate it might have kept him off the list.
