I don't know. Lebron has some pretty big wigs telling him that he doesn't need the NY market to push his product endorsements. When MJ tells you this you may have to sit back and listen. I said it before legacy will do more for Lebron than what city he plays in. He will be looking at the quickest way to get to the Finals at this point of his career and start working on getting championships.

MJ was also found snickering in the corner after that comment whilst trying to protect his own legacy as the games' best.

Also, the city in which Lebron wins championships can certainly help shape his overall legacy.

I doubt it. I don't see a group of people 20 years down the road saying that Lebron championships mean more in NY then the ones he may have gotten in Cleveland. It's about getting the first one and then adding on to it where ever you are and your impact on getting those titles. Also I doubt Jordan feels his legacy is in threat. It is what it is.

Mean more? That has nothing to do with Legacy. Legacy can be shaped by marketing, exposure, etc. especially outside of the US. BOS/LA/CHI/NY >>>>>> CLE in those terms.

All things being equal, ie LeBron wins as many in CLE as he may in NY, the Legacy potential is not as big in CLE.

Knicks have to think that LeBron isn't coming anyways. I will believe LeBron is a Knick when he signs on the dotted line to play for the Knicks. Until then just keep clearing cap space and think he isn't coming to NY.

2010 is about the Big Five: Lebron, Wade, Dirk, Amare, and Bosh. If we get NONE of them and don't at least use our cap space to make some great trades, then I'll be really disappointed.

Lebron is now denying that he ever had the conversation with Ariza

Contradicting an earlier report, Chris Broussard writes that "sources close to the Cavaliers' superstar" said that LeBron James did not tell Trevor Ariza he would remain in Cleveland after next season.

A source told Broussard on Monday that James, in his pitch to get Ariza to sign in Cleveland, informed Ariza that he'll play with the Cavaliers past 2010.

"[B]ut on Tuesday, sources who spoke to James said the story told by the person close to Ariza was wrong," Broussard reports.

Oh well. 2010 isn't about LeBron.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

I expected as much. I don't get the covert operations that Lebron is trying to run but I find it hard to believe that Ariza's people went out of their way to make up a story about him when asked about why he chose Houston over other teams. Stop the spy games, it's just basketball not national defense.

Yep this is a moot point. I would rather win 30 games aseason with a young team while trying to rebuild from scratch, than wing 33 games a season with a bunch of overpaid malcontent types. I am totally on board with the direction we are going.

According to Trevor Ariza, Lebron told him, he would be in Cleveland next season in an effort to recruit him to the Cavs.
(Ariza somehow thinks making 3 million more on a lottery team is more important than playing with Lebron or Kobe, glad we traded this kid, now)

However if this is true, it is now imperative that the Knicks sign David Lee, because there is a very real chance we come away with non of the top free agents in 2010. It now looks like 2011 when Paul and Durants contracts come up that the Knicks will have to get their prize. I also think that Nate now needs to be signed and this team needs to grow and take their lumps and grow together (Dougalas, Nate, Chandler, Gallo, Lee, and Hill)

lol... yeah, let's trash the entire 2010 plan because Ariza said he heard from Lebron that he wasn't coming here... sorry Donnie, time for a change of plan... Ariza's word is bond.

Reezy or anyone in his camp should not be talking about this kind of stuff.

BTW, if Lebron is not signing an extension then he really don't care about cleveland and the money. Don't mean he is not staying or going or staying or going or playing in europe or the globetrotters.

Ariza wasn't advising the Knicks or Walsh on any matter. His confident was speaking to something that James told him concerning whether he should go to the Cavs or another team.

what i'm commenting on is the silliness to take Ariza's word about what Lebron plans on doing next year... until i hear it from Lebron's lips then people can speculate & report all they want to on what he supposedly said he plans on doing... if CC Sabathia comes out & says Lebron told him he would love to play here, does that mean he's coming for sure?

Wasn't CC's quotes about Lebron and Bosh coming to the Knicks framed on here like factual evidence.

I guess everyone is guilty of doing it, even his Egoness.

LeBron James is convinced CC Sabathia will end up in pinstripes.

The Cleveland Cavaliers superstar and New York Yankees fan wants his favorite baseball team to land Sabathia, the top starting pitcher in this year's free-agent class.

The Yankees have formulated a proposal to Sabathia that would exceed Johan Santana's $137.5 million, six-year contract with the New York Mets both in total and average.

Asked before Cleveland's game against Utah on Saturday night if he thought the Yankees would win the Sabathia sweepstakes, James smiled and said, "We're gonna get him. Absolutely."

Well Dirk is now off the table with the Marion deal, he will resign since dallas added Gortat and resigned Kidd. Cuban will overpay.

And no one is talking about the bulls if Wade decides to leave, Rose, Deng, Thomas, Noah is a little more enticing that what we have to offer.

The Knicks are equally as screwed with the lowered cap.

LOL, man, why don't you just speak for yourself instead of trying to group-frame everyone else's opinion.
