lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Looking at it from Portland's point of view (as was said) - having Oden and Aldridge on their team, it doesn't make much sense for them to offer Lee more than the Knicks already have. So if Portland doesn't give Lee an offer, he likely will not get one. In that case, Lee either has to do the QO or accept something in the $7-8 million range which the Knicks seem willing to pay.. If he takes the QO he runs the risk of serious injury and the chance that he doesn't get a bigger offer next season anyway. In other words, I think Lee remains a Knick long term and I don't think he gets a player option in his contract.

even if that happens it doesn’t mean he remains a knick long term. they could trade him during the season. especially if his salary is reasonable. it's a lot easier for teams to trade than for him than sign him as a fa.

All we should be doing is giving him slightly more than the MLE because our only serious competition is teams with the MLE. $7 mil a season should be the absolute tops. If the MLE is 5 years, $32 mil (I think I read that that's what it was), then 6 years and $42 mil--with a player option where ever he wants it--is the most.
