I say he starts off very well into the season and another team's center goes down and trades for Eddie Curry, giving us back a reasonable player who's contract expires at end of season. what you guys think??
Will be packaged in a trade before the 2009/10 season begins
Plays in the 2009/10 season and do very well in Mike D' antoni's system
Will be traded right before the Feb 2010 trading deadline
Will become part of a sign and trade during the great free-agent period 2010
Heart condition reappears/force to retire/Knicks get medical relief.

he will have to retire because he is catastrohpically failed in everything, he is not capable of getting back in shape!

Failed in everything? He's earned and lost enough money to buy and sell you about 20,000 times over. You're talking about him on a message board and he's playing in the NBA. So who really lost?

Guys,

I don't know about you but Dum Isiah gave two #1's (unprotected pick) for this guy. We have to hope he comes out kickin butt throughout the NBA in the upcoming season and become one of the best big men out east.

Hearing that he lost 40 pounds is encouraging news so let's see what he can do for the knicks in a postive way.

Only 26yrs old..

It will be almost exactly like last years Zach Randolph situation. He'll come in with an improved body and attitude. He'll work hard. Be a good teammate. Play well for us. Help us win games. Increase his trade value. Then we will trade him before the deadline. Then this coming Summer, he'll opt out and some sucker will give him a big contract and he'll go back to being lazy.

Amen. You took the words right out of my mouth.

Someone who shows up out of shape every season doesn't want to get better. His life has sucked the last 2 years but his career has sucked from day 1.

I may be proven wrong. Maybe a light switch flicked on and Curry has decided that he is finally going to stay in shape and work on improving his game.

I'll let another team take the risk and eat up their cap space hoping that's the case vs. someone who loves ball just enough to earn a contract in his walk year and then lolly gag again.

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

A tough road to maturity

I would welcome the opinion of anyone who has lost a close friend, a child or survived a home invasion.

It is uncertain that the reluctant Eddy Curry will ever have the passion for basketball as the people who insisted he play in the first place, starting in the seventh grade. I wonder if the same people who insisted he should turn pro, rather than attend DePaul, ever considered his life skills?

At 26, Eddy Curry is not at any crossroads. He was never the next Shaq or even the next Oliver Miller. He was a kid who never learned to say "no" and who never thought the money was that big a deal. The fact his large house is in foreclosure is quite possibly the best thing to happen to him. Perhaps the ghosts of that frightening night of 2007 need to be left behind with that huge house.

Victim? Punching bag? Clown? Object of derision and resentment? Of course. All and more. Is he irresponsible have such "gifts" and squander them? Perhaps. But I cannot imagine losing a close friend, losing a a child to murder, facing down a public lawsuit in national newspapers or surviving a home invasion - all before my 27th birthday.

Can't do it.

Eddy Curry is a manchild in a land that is not promised, learning how to play professional basketball for the first time.

Hopefully, whether he learns how to play professional basketball or not, he can organize his personal affairs and learn to laugh like a kid.

I think Curry will perform decently next season, he will be probably have 10/3 in 15/20 minutes.
I would be shocked if it really clicks in his head and he becomes a real force, say 17/8/.5, then it would be real hard to trade him.
In reality though, he will always be what he was, too lazy to rebound or block shots.
Long term, he will be traded, Hill is the future C, there is no doubt in my mind.

Speaking of nickel beers TMS< if you find yourself in Columbia Heights/Adam's Morgan/U St and you get pissed off about how crowded it is and how the *******s in the popped collars and boating shoes get in your way and don't apologize, head to this bar called Red Derby and order "the special"... $5 for a can of Schlitz and a shot of Jameson. Not quite a nickel beer but as close as you'll get in DC

Actually, it does- they have done some studies and proved the state of being "better" is linked to a person's monetary resources.

Eh, we dont need to start delving into UK philosophy, because quite honestly you cats are stupid.

My whole original point was that it is funny to hear someone on a message board claim that someone in the NBA has 'failed at everything.' If we were to compare the accomplishments of blob and Eddy Curry, Blob wouldnt be a pimple on Eddy's ass in the grand scheme of life.

But getting off that visual, the larger picture is that I would like to see UK cut Eddy a little more slack. My views are in the same vein as Fishmike and Misterearl. Eddy is a young cat, and he's dealt with a lot of recent tragedies. He should be held accountable for his mistakes, but damn he still has a chance to contribute to this team and at least make himself viable for trade. I'm rooting for him.

Eddy Curry's only accomplishment was being born tall. After that he became a behemoth and dominated tiny HS kids before being drafted in the top 5. Then he fooled someone into trading for him and giving him a large contract despite a history of poor work ethic. Eddy Curry is a fat, pathetic loser if you take away his millions. If he wasn't in the NBa he would be in his basement weighing about 500 lbs and eating Cheetos. That's the truth. I have no sympathy for a guy getting paid millions to become fat.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

"That's the truth." I call BS

GKFv2 - you ever think, I mean REALLY THINK about what happens if a coach, or an agent or an NBA scout who pays off the coach does not fantasize about Eddy Curry and label him as the next Shaq guess what REALLY happens?

Eddy Curry is free to follow his passion for gymnastics. As a result he is happy with himself and away from the expectations of others. He graduates from high school and accepts a gymnastics scholarship at Howard University, where he falls in love and marries a pre med student.

Eddy becomes a gymnastics coach and stays in shape in his spare time while he paints and develops a talent for creative writing.. His wife, a former classmate of Howard basketball coach Butch Beard suggests that Eddy help Butch at a summer basketball camp. Eddy, a well adjusted 26 year old, makes a few moves using his gymnast flexibility and Butch Beard asks whether Eddy has ever picked up a basketball.

A confident Eddy drains a 10 footer, then an 12 then a 16 foot shot. He spins in the lane and dunks with ease. The game flows because Eddy is well adjusted, happy and a very svelte and toned 275 pounds. Butch immediately gets on the phone to Knicks General Manager Walt Frazier.

The rest is history.
