you knicks fans that will be crying when lee leaves, makes me laugh. You act as if the dude is a superstar player. He was a role player for godsake.

All he could do is rebound.. he does not play both ends of the floor...

He's more athletic troy murphy... He can be replaced..

speaking for myself i was saying it for the past year that if Donnie lets Lee & Nate walk w/o getting back anything in return it's a serious gaffe on his part... this has nothing to do w/the fact that he can be replaced or not... it's about getting value for your best young players... in what world is it good GMing practice to let your best young talent walk for nothing in return? so what that he was a flawed player, so was every other player on this roster... would u like to see Wilson Chandler walk in a couple years for nothing too?

Wilson Chandler is after 2010. I think the Knicks will open the bank once 2010 passes as they own his bird rights.

I think it sucks if Lee goes and we get nothing in return, but I think it was a risk that Walsh was willing to take and that risk was/is whether or not someone will overpay for Lee. Should Walsh have traded Lee at the deadline? I think so, but at the same time I can see where he was willing to take the risk on keeping Lee and getting him at 7 million per. If someone pays Lee 10million, that's great, I don't want him at that price.

It's not like this is a done deal either. Of course Lee's agent is going to say he's going to get his client a huge deal, he wouldn't be doing his job if he said Lee was going to have no market.

I hope Lee will be very happy in Memphis. If he can't go to Utah, I guess it's the next best thing.

irregardless of 2010 or not, if keeping D Lee was not in the plans then trading him would have been the only logical move to make.

i'm not gonna condemn Walsh until Lee actually walks, but you know i've been warning against this very scenario for a year now so if it comes to pass Walsh will definitely not be getting a pass from me.

Whats this nonsense I'm hearing about Lee signing with Memphis! Didnt Lee sabotage the Mayo trade by refusing to play in Memphis?!?!

Walsh has to navigate through a few emerging land mines this offseason...Lee and Nate could develop into problems if they just walk with no compensation. In any event, the bi-polar ass Knick fans are hilarious. Ripping lee a new a-hole until the moment it seems he is ready to bounce, and now they're pining for him like a newborn child.

ain't nobody pining for D Lee... it's losing him for nothing in return that's the problem... you know the distinction as well as i do.

If the Knicks are willing to pay David Lee 6 years 42mm --tell me what exactly is 2 more mm a year?

If they frontload the contract in year 1 the cap hold could be around 7mm in year 2 anyway.

I dont get it Im willing to give you 42 but not 54--it makes no sense. I mean we just paid 4mm for the right to take a two year look at a 6-1 combo guard who cant dunk.
Think about it!

Nah, I know you have bro. It would be a blunder to not have gotten value for him, but I'm just not sure how BIG of a blunder. I almost think it was worth the risk, but who knows. It would certainly suck to just lose Lee's 16 and 12, although I do think those stats are a reflection of the system.

There is a lot of "we didnt appreciate him until he was gone" sentiment pulsating into this thread.

And let me repeat.. this is David Lee's agent doing his job saying that Lee is going to "get an offer the Knicks won't want to match." Well of course that's his agents plan, but lets see just how much money these teams are willing to give David before you put the nail in the coffin.

I still believe that any team willing to sign David will be willing to do a sign and trade for him. The teams that are interested in him are desperate and I do believe that Lee is atop the PF class.

I dont think there is a reason to panic...this is where a good, savvy GM comes into play. Walsh and co. should be able to manipulate the media and turn Lee into the hottest free agent commodity. Boozer not opting is a good thing! There are now more suitors, and its Walsh's job to make them bid against one another.

Agree wholeheartedly, especially about the Boozer part - I said that in another thread earlier. I think it's a good thing.

Lee was a double double - but why did we always get outrebounded?

I mean, if Lee were a good rebounder, our team rebound differential wouldn't have been fourth worse in the league. Right?

That 4 mil doesn't count against the salary cap. If there were no salary cap, I'm sure the Knicks would have no qualms giving Lee any figure he wanted. I wouldn't give Lee $42 mil anyway.

First Lee vetoed that trade and now he turned down a very reasonable $42 mil contract offer. It seems like he just wants to screw the Knicks organization.

Lee cant veto a trade and that was all the media. He has worked hard and been a good represntative for the knicks for 4 years.

Don't be naive. If Lee told the Grizz he wasn't going to sign with them then they weren't going to trade for him.

Not being naive he didnt say that. If David stats were inflated how can you get excited about Wilson inflated stat. Lee averasged a double-double in a different offense. He is the only guy on the team that can play offense efficient. NYK did improve 9 games with him starting. He is asking for market value like anyone else would. If you think that Hill can average 16-12 next year knick fans have lost thier mind
