Chris Wilcox is lazy on the floor... he's just not active out there... he's got tremendous athletic ability but none of the drive to make himself a presence down low on a consistent basis... i see that a difference in Jordan Hill tho... i don't think he's gonna be the disappointment that Wilcox was, but who knows what will happen once these guys get their hands on the money & the lifestyle... complacency can happen to anyone i don't care what your name is, but with Hill i think he's demonstrating a true will to get better in his game & he's never seemed like a lazy player to me out there in any games i've watched him play... he's always around the ball, going after rebounds, trying to block shots, hustling after loose balls... he would be well liked in NYC imo because of the way he plays hard every night, regardless if he makes mistakes or not... NYkers love guys who go hard all the time every time... we hate lazy coasters like Tim Fugazy & soft no guts guys like Frye... i don't think Hill is either.

I certainly dont see "tenacious" when I see this guy play. Looks like a guy who got by as a college player due to size & hops. But a streak of laziness, bad hands & low bball IQ will make him Chris Wilcox II.

wow, musta missed the games u watched then, cuz i saw a completely different player than u did... yeah, he doesn't have the best hands or the highest bball IQ maybe, but he is nothing like Chris Wilcox... first of all, Wilcox isn't even a shotblocker persay... the fact that he's a lazy player makes him not challenge shots the way Jordan Hill does... he just waits until an open dunk attempt comes & he makes a rim rattler... that's not Hill's only talent... Hill will bounce up like David Lee does & get tipins around the basket... he's always gonna fight for rebounds... he's gonna challenge shots in the paint... lazy players don't do these things dude.

Best Case: Better Rebounding Chris Wilcox
Worst Case: Ronny Turiaf

http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Jordan-Hill-1222/

Not forming my opinion on this but I am in agreement with their comparison.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

the knicks want curry or rubio over griffin?

i dunno about that man.

Absolutely

okaym, if you say so, but honestly, i think the evidence to support this idea is specious at best.

i can't imagine us passing on griffin at #1. but really, who cares, we're not gonna be in a position to get him anyway.

What happened last time we drafted a forward from Arizona with the # 8 pick?

I'm not a big Hill fan, but I don't follow your reasoning. If the last time we drafted a forward from Arizona with the 8th pick, we got a star, would you assume that Jordan Hill would be a great pick. Frye was a bad mistake, but that has nothing to do with this pick.

He's not the guy I want but Hill's a damn good player and should be a good player in the NBA for a long time. I don't see Channing Frye part II at all. I saw this guy completely embarrass Cole Aldrich at home this past season when they were matched up against one another - impact on the game, skill-level, the whole 9... Hill won that matchup handily. Aldrich couldn't hang with him at all on both ends. That game showed me a lot. Aldrich was really gaining some steam as a prospect himself at the time too (Aldrich was being discussed as a possible lottery pick at the time)... I still want a guy to drive the bus - either Steph Curry or Jeff Teague - I just feel this is a PG draft, we need a long-term solution at the point and to me, though each is slightly different (to me Curry's the purer shooter who's also shown enough skill & craftiness in other areas to be an impact playmaker pretty much right out of the gate while Teague's a real "5-tool" type that might take slightly longer to develop but might wind up being even better), these are the best two out there for us - 1 & 1A. But listen, Hill wouldn't be terrible. Supposedly Walsh loves him. If we got Hill, now suddenly there's no need for a FA big like A'mare or Chris Bosh I guess right? Not ready to put him on that level yet but he could be as good as those guys one day. At the very least, right now I see a player, impact-wise, on par with a guy like Nene only with more polish and better all-around skills - and I think that's low-balling it. If I had to bet, he should be even better than Nene is right now and right away and that's not too shabby at all - it took Nene a little while, but he's made himself into a pretty decent player out there in Denver. Channing Frye, by comparison, plays the game like a sissy and might be out of the league in a year or two...

a little bit of Nene, a little bit of KMart, a little bit of Antonio Davis at his absolute best... i think that sorta sums up what u will get outta Jordan Hill... it's up to him how good he becomes but the talent & ability is definitely there IMO.

Must be the Arizona climate or something- good for TB, but not PFs.

Hill needs some lower body weight and he should be fine, I would think, but I have not seen enough of him to feel passionate either way about him.

Seems like a good kid who understands what he needs to do in interviews. Has a nice jumper, and has spent a lot of time on footwork in the post, supposedly.

If we take him at 8 I would want a second level PG- Collison, Maynor, etc. with a later pick that we acquire. I think Collison will be the PG sleeper in the draft. We have to end up with at least one PG in this draft.

I dont mind the Hill pick

IF, the Knicks then use it and the Mobley contract and some cash to take the 2nd pick and Darko from Memphis.

Hill is perfect for Memphis and they'll be interested in saving money.

Although I'm only really interested in the 2nd pick if its Rubio

Its never a good sign when you've only started playing Ball your last 2 yrs of High School and you're a year older than the rest of your class.

This guy should've been a senior. He will be pushed around in the pros and he will have very little impact. Not built to be a good shot blocker rebounder type. More of a offensive 4. But a face up player.

Donyell Marshall is what i see.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

MDA likes skilled and high IQ basketball players and that is what Turiaf I mean Hill isnt. Hill isnt going to be the kind of player that turns a team around and he isnt a pick and roll kind of player. I just Knicks need a guard and draft a big late

Hill was pushed around hard by the Louisville bigs who were pushed around hard by Thabeet. 230 and he recently put that weight on--remember he was like 210 when he got to AZ. I don't view him as a superior frontcourt player. I would rather trade back and get a 2010 and pick Mullens than just take Hill.

I like hill playing the 5 if we keep Lee and move him to the 4. Wouldn't take him over Curry or Jennings though.

LOL @ the Chris Wilcox, Channing Frye, Othella Harrington, Etan Thomas & Donyell Marshall comparisons on this thread... Jordan Hill doesn't play like any of those guys... Etan Thomas doesn't run the floor like Hill does & doesn't have the midrange J that Hill is clearly developing... Frye & Donyell are perimeter shooting 4's that don't like to mix it up in the paint, something Hill clearly is not... he's not an undersized chubby C like Othella, who doesn't know the meaning of the word "blocked shot" either & neither does Chris Wilcox... Ronny Turiaf is probably the closest poor man's comparison being made on this thread but even he isn't the athlete that Hill is... y'all are sleeping on this kid bigtime if u think he'll only end up being a minor role player on a good team... this kid has legit starter's talent & ability

TMS I agree with everything you said. I also think getting Hill in this draft at 8 would be huge for the Knicks. This is not last years draft where you had to try hard to mess up. Hill probably will be gone by 8 but if he is there the Knicks should take him.

To be fair, at the time, it looked like Garnett was quite close to nearing the end, and it looked like Channing was rising. I don't think anybody would have thought he'd be as bad as he turned out to be.
