You would think from the responses here that for the entire 7 minutes of the interview his only response was Ruio is hype.

Brandon went on to say put him in a gym with us - that us being himself, Flynn, Holiday, Curry, and Lawson - and Rubio would come out of that pack on the bottom. Would he?

If Jennings was the projected no. 2 pick with no real body of work to back it up and Rubio was here working out against the top prospects and he made the same comments would he be getting villified here. I doubt it. Most would be singing his praises as an insightful Euro guy.

From what I can tell a lot of people didn't watch the video.

I agree with TMS and the others who say that Jennings should have kept his mouth shut. It does raise a red flag about his character and maturity. When all is said and done, I think Curry will be better than both of them.

It wasn't a classy comment but I don't see any venom coming from his mouth, From everything I have rad it seems like Jennings was the dominant player--and physically you know he is fast quick guard with great jumping ability. He knows how to push the ball and find the open man--he is much more of a PURE PG than Holiday or Flynn. He has the speed to put defenders back on their heels.

To dismiss a player or call a red flag off of am innocent video is kind of extreme. It sounds like he took whatever he was given in Europe in stride--a star player his whole life humbled by the bench. Branden Jennings is a taller version of TJ Ford--that is a failry high lottery pick--post video talk not-withstanding--I don't blame him for calling out Rubio--why would you--he came back to play against peers of his own talent and Rubio is hiding.

I will flatly say Rubio is the guys I do NOT want.

I didn't read the article but I'm assuming Jennings said something about Rubio being hype...

which is hilarious to me-- Jennings should take care of his own before talking about other people or other players.

This is what Jennings should have said:

Rubio is a great player with great popularity throughout the world, and I have a lot of admiration for him, but I also want teams to know that I have a lot to offer as a player, and if people look at both of us without being blinded by the hype and the headlines, they will have a better understanding of what I can do as an NBA PG.

Should have, could have, would have. Jennings needs to keep his trap shut. They faced eachother before and Jennings is crying out how Rubio had a small stat line, but guess what. Jennings didn't have such a great statline either and his team lost the game. Sounds like a man desperate to raise his stock, that's all.

I think that part of the problem is that almost every player I have seen interviewed has been a model citizen, and there has not even been a hint of a Jennings type attitude up until now (Unsubstantiated hate by DeRozan for Harden, though).

BTW- Jennings has been invisible except for press speculation and criticism up until now- and if he was in the same situation as Rubio, he would also be staying away from the group workouts based on his agents "recommendation."

Yeah if he was living on Sesame Street. This is ridiculous. LOL, lot of admiration for him, great popularity throughout the world. Is he trying out for a NBA team or trying to replace Mother Theresa.

Trajkovic is sort of a legend in Europe when it comes to developing young players.

“For sure, Brandon matured as a person and a player this year,” Trajkovic said. “From the beginning I was concerned when I saw tape of him in the U.S. and watched him in Italy. He was a special athlete. But he didn’t know how to play the game.

Trajkovic said Jennings kept working hard. They often would simulate game conditions in practice and Jennings would dominate, especially later in the season. “He kept his focus. Playing was important. But so was development. Sometimes you can’t control how much you play. But you can keep working and stay positive. Brandon did this.”

Trajkovic wasn’t always glowing in his praise. He said Jennings still had more to learn. He needed to totally buy into the team game. He needed to keep taking jump shots (he said Jennings put up more than 30,000 while he was in Europe) and he would need to get stronger in the NBA. But he cautioned not to read too much into Jennings’ struggles in Europe.

“I promise you. If you brought LeBron James over from high school straight to Europe, we would have messed him up,” Trajkovic said. “We demand different things. It is not enough to do something. You must do it correctly. Everyone who comes, young or old, from America, has to adjust. He was able to do it better than most I have seen. One more year in Europe, and he would be a star. I don’t know if the NBA feels the same way.”

all the hype is based off how well he played in the Olympics and some comments made by Paul and Kidd. I wonder how many people at the Rucker and Procity have heard the same things when they and other stars decided to spend the off season at some of the top summer league spots instead of stroking America's ego at the Olympics.

Isn't FIBA basically what they play in the Euroleague. So, he has been playing that style of basketball for awhile now. Don't really see how you can now use his age as an excuse. It kind of makes Jennings' point about the hype.

And by the way, take a look at LeBron's 04 olympics at Age 19:

7 Points 1.3 Rebounds 2.1 Assists

Not exactly blowing people out of the water.

Now you are reaching. Everyone knows the story behind Lebron's numbers and that story was posted on a daily basis on this forum during the 05-06 season.

Ha, Lebron would have killed for the time that Rubio got and you know it. It is a reach.

I understand being confident, but jennings was disrespectful to a fellow prospect that NBA allstars and HOF players, chris paul and jason kidd had nothing but glowing praise for... Jennings is a nobody, who is he to down this kid in such a fashion.. I thought it was silly and unprofessional....

Just go by watching the games. Do you remember seeing Lebron on the court as much as you saw Rubio last August. That crazy old fool didn't think Lebron, Wade or Anthony should get more time than the likes of Marbury, Iverson and Jefferson.
