Posted by TMS:Posted by BRIGGS:Posted by Vmart: But you have to realize how young the kid is. How scrawny was KG when he first entered. I know he came out of high school, but look at him now. Physicality is the one thing you have to be patient with on draft day. Only 10% of these guysa are NBA ready from a physical standpoint the day they get drafted. |

he's gonna be 22 this year, not exactly a youngster in terms of prospects... w/that tall lanky build of his it's hard to see him putting on much more bulk & strength at this stage in the game... i could see it if we were talking about an 18 yo kid outta HS like KG.
i think his upside is a little limited by these factors, which would make me think twice & even 3 times before taking this guy so high in the draft. After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

Posted by TMS: But yet he's valuable at where he's going to get picked in the draft simply because of the position he'll be playing, mainly the 5. He's clearly the best defensive player in this year's crop. There's a reason why he's being touted as a top 3 pick. |

Posted by JrZyHuStLa:Posted by TMS: like i said i'm not doubting his upside, but he's got a ton of concerns about him as well... the way he was absolutely dominated by a guy almost a foot shorter than him has to be worrysome if you're gonna take a guy that high in the draft based on his defensive prowess... if u ask me i'd just as soon take Jordan Hill if we're drafting a big than Hasheem Thabeet... i think he brings more intangibles than just shotblocking that would translate better on this team. Posted by TMS:Posted by JrZyHuStLa:Posted by TMS: Thabeet brings more than just shot blocking though. His ability to run is being overlooked because he's mainly labeled as a shot blocker. He's also a good free throw shooter, I guess that can be a solid indicator of him being a good shooter generally. As far as Jordan Hill goes, the last thing I would want out of a big man is a lack of defensive fundamentals. |

i think Jordan Hill will be a better post defender than Thabeet when it's all said & done because he thrives in a physical style of play & is strong enough to hold his ground against guys who outweigh him, something Thabeet has yet to show me... to me the only really intriguing thing about Thabeet is his height & shotblocking ability... he doesn't seem to have that fire inside him that i can see in Hill... i see Thabeet on the court sometimes & he looks lost & disinterested to me... that doesn't instill confidence in me that he's working to be a great basketball player... Jordan Hill still needs a lotta work on learning fundamentals too, but i think he's driven & he's hungry... i watched several Arizona games this year cuz i was focused on what Chase Budinger could bring to the table, but the guy that stood out in all those games i watched was Jordan Hill & i came away very impressed by the energy, intensity & nastiness that he can bring to the table... i don't see those same intangibles in Thabeet.
