TMS, I'll give you that DeRozan is significantly more athletic than Curry, if you give me that Curry has a much better shot and is a better passer than DeRozan.

Posted by Ira: of course, i always said Curry's the best shooter in this draft, & i'm assuming he's a better passer... passing isn't what Derozan's known for anyways... Derozan will get up & down the floor & finish better than anyone in this draft, & he's got the ability & length to be a pretty good defender & shotblocker too at his position... his outside J is also underrated by many because they just care to look at the 16% 3 pt. percentage his freshman season when he only attempted 36 three pointers, most games during which he would only put up 1 or 2 per game. Ira, I'll give you that Curry has a smokin' hot Mom, if you give me that DeRozan (starting at age 10) doing 10 toe raises on each of the 15 steps in his parents house, as well as squats, sit-ups and push-ups before going to bed, (without anyone telling him to do it) makes him more NBA ready for the 100 game grind.

Here is the capper
I am suggesting that DeRozan is a better NBA shooter than Curry. First, he has the strength to create space and get to his spots. Start with his 6-6 height, then mix in a 6-9 wingspan to go with a 38.5-inch vertical. DeRozan shot 52% from the field. Although critics may knock his three point shooting, his mid range game is an obvious strength, a lost art in the NBA. DeRozan hit nearly 57% of his two-point field goals. 57 per cent. Now for the good part... "I haven't really had any problem with any style, but I really like D'Antoni's style," (DeRozan) said. "I like how they get out and run and push the ball… That's one offense that really caught my eye." once a knick always a knick

Derozan shot over 50% from the 3 his senior year at Compton HS so we know he can shoot the ball.

Three Point Range
TMS - rather that get hung up on particular stats, what critics fail to include is that 3 point shooting is one of the easiest skills to improve if a player has decent jump shooting technique to start with. I would submit that DeRozan qualifies. You get in the gym and shoot until you can't raise your arms past your ears. Then you shoot some more. During his freshman year at USC DeRozan had an early stretch where he went 0-12, or something like that, from 3 point range which did nothing for his percentages. Big deal. Percentage, schmercentage... ... wasn't that Trevor Ariza shooting three's the other night? once a knick always a knick

Shooting is probably the HARDEST thing to improve. Especially 3 point shooting. You can have all the technique in the world and you can be a crappy shooter. Just ask Jared Jefferies who has pretty decent form yet is lousy shooting in all areas of the court. Ask Bruce Bowen who has a nice 3 pt shot, but can't shoot anywhere else. Shooting is NOT easy to improve. There are players that spend their whole careers trying to figure out how to be at least a consistent shooter, yet can't figure it out. Just ask Shaq at the free throw line. Shoot Me
Allanfan - you totally overlooked the, "if a player has decent jump shooting technique to start with." part Where was it written that shooting was easy to improve? Shaq does not have decent jump shooting technique to start with. once a knick always a knick

Posted by misterearl: I'll shoot you if you shoot me. I already said it's difficult to improve even if you have technique. And I never said Shaq had good technique. “Whenever I’m about to do something, I think ‘Would an idiot do that?’ and if they would, I do NOT do that thing.”- Dwight Schrute

Even The Answer Man Can't Tell You What Dick Barnett's Bench Press Was At Tennessee State
Q. Ira - After doing all of that work, how come (DeRozan) could only lift the required weight in the bench press five times while Curry lifted it ten times? A. Rumor has it that DeRozan dogged it the pre draft workout so he would falll in the laps of the Knicks. James Harden, on the other hand, benched the same weight 17 times, but then was MIA for a team interview. Whadyagunnado? [Edited by - misterearl on 06-07-2009 3:43 PM] once a knick always a knick

But hold up, if 6'6 220 pound Ty(reke) Evans handle is as good as he claims it is...
“I’m a basketball player. I can play the point guard position if you give me the ball. I make things happen. At the two-guard position I can score as well, so I’m good at both. “I am a combo guard. You can put me at the one or the two and I will make things happen. I know how to get my shots and I know how to get my teammates the ball. If I come here I think I’d do both, too. I don’t think I’d strictly be a one or a two. I mean, I can run the point when they need me to and then play the wing when they want me to also.” ... Does Donnie grab him if he drops?
