WAS should probably trade the pick to OKL if they win the lottery... they'll still end up w/a top 3 talent in the draft & it's a good chance for them to dump a bad contract in the process.

I think they're bsing. If they get the top pick, they're not trading it. They are not going to explain that one to their fan base. They just dont want to pay millions to Thabeet, Rubio, or Hill and I dont really blame them.

When is the lotto order selection show??

Wash might want to dump SOME salary and trade down.

With WIN NOW they might not have the patience to develope another player. DLEE gives them solid stats and the type of player than can enhance existing players. They have talent, they can use a DLEE type player that contributes big but does not need the ball.

Most teams can say similar.

I don't want to trade lee, but If we do I hope walsh can really make a great move.

Rubio will need time to mature.

Lebron can help him.

We can resign Nate and trade him down the road.

Wizards May Consider Dealing 2009 1st Round Pick

The Wizards will have one of the top picks in the 2009 NBA Draft, but could possibly deal it because of their financial situation.

The team has about $75.9 million committed to contracts for next season, which would put them over the luxury-tax threshold.

If the Wizards were to deal the pick, they would likely try to attach a troublesome contract along with it.
The Wizards traded their previous lottery pick in 2004 to Dallas.

does that sound like a team looking to add long term salary?

After that, there are no sure bets, and league sources say Washington - if it misses out on first or second - would rather package a high draft pick with a veteran and/or expiring contract to add an established veteran who can contribute right away.

This sounds like a team that might long-term salary if it's the right long-term salary. Whether that's David Lee, who knows?

if that's the case i'd offer up Lee to swap picks w/WAS + Haywood's expiring & take Derozan.

Just two things here:

From a perspective of not wanting to pay Lee more than 6M a year to be a future backup F/C for us -[ it's not a bad idea by BRIGGS but I sure would like a pick out of it.

2nd: McGee - he reminds me an awful lot of Marcus Camby when he was young. Quick, tall, big leaper, tenacious, terrible shooter, great blocker looking to be a great defender....etc....etc.

There really is (imo) a similarity there. If McGee could be a Marcus Camby? The one that helped us go back to the NBA Finals? Then it is a good trade pick or no pick.

Let's face facts about Lee. His stats dictate he deserves a large contract. His faults on the court dictate he is not a starting F/C on a team unless he is paired with a SUPERstar front court mate (Bosh is not it).

Not a bad idea here by BRIGGS at all. Washington gave a pick? DONE DEAL!

This seems like a really good deal for all involved. I'm not sold on Derozan tho, but you're jones'in on ol boy now so I'll live you alone.
