...pick + chandler + gallo...

I might be nuts but if I was MDA, I'd seriously consider that trade for Rubio. You'd need to find a few replacement pieces but if Gallo's health is going to be iffy, then Chandler plus pick for Rubio sounds like a deal.

I would try to trade with OK City and get their two first rounders.

I like that idea, assuming they get shafted

Oklahoma probably won't give us their first pick if we get the 3rd pick. That would mean they are picking at the 5 spot. The value from 3-6 looks about the same in this draft. I doubt they get royally screwed and go all the way to the 7 spot.

Now Minny is another possible trade partner that would probably be more willing to trade since they have 3 first round picks (lottery, teens and late). If we get the 3rd pick to move back to 6 spot. If another jumps over them in the lottery then they are picking in the 7 spot. They have some good players in Al Jefferson, Love, Gomes, Foye. They probably want a shot at Thabeet or DeRozan since they have a hole in the center and sg positions. Maybe we can trade the 3rd pick for the 6th pick and their 18th pick(worse case get the 28th and one of their 2nd round picks).

Then select Curry, Harden or jennings with the 6th/7th pick and then select BJ Mullens with the 18th pick.

Definitely not willing to give up all 3 of those for a player we've barely seen.

I'm praying we win the lotto and maybe we can trade for another lotto pick, somehow.

I want nothing to do with James Harden honestly.

In the top 10 picks atleast that is.

Just out of curiosity: What would it take to trade up to take Rubio? Our pick plus, um, Nate and Duhon? I don't think that would do it. I'm sure Rubio has been discussed at length but I'm late to the party. His clips are amazing. I'm sure he'd have problems with D in the NBA but, wow, I've never seen a 19 year old guard with his skills/speed/game. If anyone is worth trading up for, I'd say it's Rubio.

except setting up any deal involving nate or lee for a draft pick we want would have to take place after July 9th (when you can sign free-agents), not before or during the draft. even if we get the #3 pick that makes things VERY complicated for a variety of reasons:

1) you would have to to find out if nate would even be willing to go to whatever team has the #2 pick, which he would be under no legal obligation to do and could backfire

2) Nate + Duhon (or without him) + rights to our pick is going to mean we are going to have to also get players from the other team to match salaries, which is a major ? (maybe they don't need/want Duhon).

3) I highly doubt we are going to trade Duhon & Nate for Rubio, not even counting the pick, because while i really like Rubio, there is no way that the Knicks are going to go into next season with him as THE only real PG on the team, when the clear objective is to make the playoffs next year, ESPECIALLY since in all likelihood Utah will have our pick (unless we give them it this year).

Basically, if we get the #3 pick, and want to "move up" using nate or lee it will have to be a separate deal that has isn't really moving up, but more like trading the rights to our pick + whoever for the rights to (I will assume is) Rubio + whoever.

i'm with you, even though i highly covet rubio.

nate + duhon + the #3 pick is a huge amount to trade for a player who hasn't even been in the league yet.

but this cannot and will not happen because the knicks would never do it, and it's impossible given the cba of the nba. there would HAVE to be other players involved.

plus you would have to ensure nate would be willing to go to that team, and why would a team who can draft rubio at #2, trade for nate + duhon instead?

Personally I have a serious problem with the way he played when the most pressure was on this year. In the Pac 10 final against USC he scored 10 pts, and in the first 2 rounds of the NCAA rounds of the tourney he went for 9 and 10 pts respectively (Temple, Cuse) and in that Temple game he was THOROUGHLY outplayed by Dionte Christmas who rose to the occasion for his team. In those 3 games I mentioned, he shot a combined 6-27 and this a guy who scored 18pts/game on 53% shooting in the regular season. To me thats a HUUUUUUGE red flag.

If the lottery goes with percentages then Washington might want to trade out of the 2nd pick and get a proven player like DLee. Washington is -1.7 in the rebounding department and DLee would definitely help there. Maybe send us one of their contracts, Haywood or Etan Thomas, plus the 2nd pick overall could make their day.

Arenas(PG), Nick Young(SG), Caron Butler(SF), Jamison(SF/PF), DLee(PF/C), Javale McGee(C), Blatche(C) is not a bad core.

completely agree w/nyk on Harden... i'm not interested in players that come up small in big games... there's no way u should pick that guy over Derozan, who schooled him twice last season, including in the Pac 10 championship game.

if we won the #3 pick & WAS wanted to trade down to us for D Lee & swapping picks, i'd do it no problem... but i don't think they'd want to do it... they'd probably want Rubio & then look towards trade options for Arenas, or use him as a SG in their system.
