When I talked about acquiring Bosh in a trade earlier in the season, TMS just made fun of me. Saying why would the Raptors do that. Now it's like but of course. Visionaries never get enough respect.

when did i make fun of u for wanting to target Bosh? it was probably the trade proposal u posted that i thought was unrealistic... it's gonna take a nice package to land that guy.

You did early in the season. When I predicted it wouldn't work out well for Bosh in Toronto no matter what they did. You didn't think they would trade him. I think that was when DJ was calling him a MVP type of player. It's cool.

i still don't think they'll trade him... & if they do it's gonna take a really good package of assets to get him... anyone who thinks we're getting him for D Lee & an expiring or Gallo is kidding themselves IMHO.

Agreed. It would take virtually every asset we've got: Lee, Gallo, Chandler, and our lottery pick would be my guess.

Bonn, what if they know that Bosh has no intention on staying there? Why would a team throw all type of assets at a team when they know this? All Bosh has to do is make it clear finally that he is outta there and what possible locations he intend on going to. For example, why would the Warriors give up Randolph if they know that Bosh has no intentions on staying in Oakland.

Folks are a little too used to having Isiah as GM. Not every deal has to be overpaid for.

I think we saw Walsh stick to his guns on Zach - from giving up a pick to just getting ending contracts back & players that were/would have been serviceable in this system (Tim Thomas/ Mobley).

If there is a fair deal to be made in the off season to get Bosh, I am sure Walsh will be in a position to make it, and I am sure Lee will like Toronto- its a little bit like NYC, just smaller and cleaner.

the only way i can see TOR trading Bosh to us is if he makes it obvious that he won't be resigning w/TOR in 2010, & even then it would still likely take a package of at least a re-signed Lee, Harrington & our lottery pick to get him.

i'm sure Walsh wouldn't give up too much to get Bosh either, but any reasonable offer would have to start there if u ask me.

I ran into Jalen Rose a couple of years ago while watching the playoffs in a bar in Atlanta. The dude had a lot insight on issues including the Brown/Isiah garbage. He told me that no talented American player desires to stay in Toronto and Bosh will forced his way out of Toronto like Vince, McGrady, Camby and Stoudamire. Dude also predicted that the organization would begin to acquire more European players to counter this issue. They acquire Bargs the next month. The guy has been on point.

So would you do Gallo and Lee to get the deal done???

Save this years draft pick and go with Duhon-Chandler-Harrington-Bosh

I wouldn't give up any valuable assets to get Bosh period. Gallo and Lee may get it done but I wouldn't even give them Gallo. Lee and whatever it takes to make up monetary wise. So if that means Curry or Jeffries. Toronto is not in a position to dictate the issue unless they can find a team who just wants to rent Bosh for a season or a team they feel they can get more from that he would be willing to re-sign with.

curry and jeffries? toronto will get a trade exemption if nothing else. very rarely do players sign outright...they would be giving up 1 year of salary.

I just don't see us moving (or being able to move) Gallo, even for Bosh, right after he has surgery. He's too much of a question mark for skeptics or the hopeful to risk him being a big piece in a deal.

It will definitely be interesting to see what happens this off-season.

It may also depend upon where we pick.

It also may be more likely we land Amare for a similar package proposed. I can see PHX liking Chandler too.

As for T-Dot being not cool to Americans...

I dunno about that anymore. That's a bit passe to me.

I've said this before, but Toronto is a MUCH hipper city than many cities that have NBA franchises, and the Canadian $ is not anywhere near as weak as it used to be.

Canada is more appealing to Europeans because it has a bit more of a European culture in it, but also American culture is VERY much an influence there as well. Toronto is a very international city with a lot of immigrants.

If it weren't so cold it would be a MUCH more popular place to live (Montreal as well).
Too bad Vancouver doesn't have a team anymore. Very tolerant place with a moderate climate and great access to outdoor beauty.

My info was from a NBA player who was just traded from there. So who knows what the consensus is really. But it seems to match up to what I seen.

i'd rather have Amare than Bosh i think to be honest... we need more of a banger inside... Bosh is more finesse... he's awesome & i would take him in a heartbeat for Lee, Harrington & our lottery pick, but if i could choose between Amare & Bosh i'd probably take Amare.

someone tell me why Bosh is better than Zach Randolph and why we want to build around this guy. He shoots < 50%. He's not a lane clogging post presence. He doesnt address our needs for size or defense up front. He's done very little but put up good numbers on mediocre teams.

He's a good player. He's not a star in this league

he's 2 years younger than Zach, he doesn't carry any of the idiotic baggage that Zach does, he's a much better shotblocker than Zach, & he runs the court which makes him a much better fit for an uptempo style game... he's a better player than Zach, period.
he's the best. He just needs a great coach a great supporting cast. With Jermaine, Amare and Elton hurt, Duncan getting old that makes Bosh like the 4th best PF in the NBA. Awesome.

I didn't want to but I wanted to be honest. I won't tell you who else was part of the conversation. But I knew after we had our drinks that I wouldn't want the guy on the Knicks but...

No way in hell do I give up a lottery pick for a guy who will more than likely come here in a year. Thats just a waste of an asset. Thats not even taking into account the fact that I'm not that sold on Bosh.

Melo? Now thats a different story. I'd pretty much give them whatever they asked for within reason.

Jalen Rose hasn't lived or played in Toronto for what, 4 years?

NYC a few years ago was a different place than it is now, so Jalen's comments on T-Dot is different than what might be the perception now.

I'm not saying Toronto is a primo destination, but it's a large, fairly cosmopolitan city.

What do players say about...

Memphis
Oklahoma City
Minnesota
Milwaukee
Detroit
Utah
Sacramento
New Jersey
Indiana

If Cleveland had no Lebron they'd also be low on the scale.

You could argue Toronto is a more interesting place to play than all of these places, so let's not get carried away. The Nets may be near NYC, but when was the last time they signed a major free-agent?

The Canadian dollar and the U.S. dollar in the past few years have become far less of a loss as used to be the case.

I'm just not buying the level of significance of Jalen Rose's comments from a few years ago as being quite as relevant today.

ugh. what are you loving about melo so much? certainly not his playoff performances.

i got a lifelong buddy in denver who's followed every game the guy's played there. after last year’s playoffs he said – “that's it. melo's gotta go. the team is never gonna win with this guy.”

college was a LONG time ago for this guy.

the issue with toronto isn't the city- its the canadian taxes- they're socialist, for real. universal healtchare, paid for with like half your income.

that is why a place like FL & TX are so attractive.

I'm not so in love with Melo either. He's had talent all around him over the years, yet he can't manage to lead his teams past the first round. He doesn't have killer instinct.
