Does JustDanceTony have a major mancrush on his skinny Eyetalian, or does he just hate N8 that much? Gallo's been his best player the last couple of weeks? Really? Best at what? Deranged hand signals that make everyone miss LJ? I think N8's even got more rebounds than Gallo during the same time span.

They CANNOT make Mr. One Trick Pony Houston the face of the franchise over Spree. The fact that it's even a question is deranged. I want the names of the 11 people on the decision board.

Deranged: word of the day, kids.

What? You call out of control Nate the best player? This guy is a ballhog to the 100th degree and more or less kills ball movement when he gets out there. If he played more within an offense and under control he would be OK in my book. But he doesn't so he doesn't deserve special recognition. Plus his constant yelling and taunting after every shot is annoying.

Nate is the best 6th man in basketball--he has a Dwayne Wade jr type game. The guy is a great little player with awesome heart.

you forgot to qualify... he is the best 6th man in bb on one end of the floor. I think I saw the little man go under picks that were about 5 feet from him... and they lead to direct layups.

He's smallish so he will always have some trouble on the D--there is no way around it but he gives maximum effort and that is what you want. In terms of overall game--how could you ask for a better 6th man? He comes with energy he rebounds he hits the open man and is unstoppable on the offensive end. He's a spark plug and a game changer

the problems I am describing have nothing to do with how small he is. Nate is great on O and can rebound. He did have a bunch of steals last night and he can have more if he used more energy on D.

Nate is unstoppable on the offensive end... how come he can't use his quickness to pressure the ball? He should also average 3 steals a game, not the 1.5 he has going now.

Nate is a siv on the perimeter.

No his size will always be a detriment on the D--there is no way around that--so that factors in. He's an effort player--giving 110% all the time. If they feel he needs to position himself differently on the D it's on the coach--Nate is going to give the effort. All in all the guy is a gem of a gem player. I would rather concentrate on his absolute positives than some of the smaller negatives. He's a winning type player--he wants to win and he CARES about winning. Does he do too much at times--yes but he has continued to get better making smarter plays and has improved by leaps and bounds. When you ahve gold you dont want to trade it for silver.

how does not fighting over picks or not putting on-the-ball pressure have to do with Nate's size? He doesn't give 110% on D. That's why MDA was screaming at Nate last night.

There were a couple of instances last night where both Duhon and Nate anticipated a pick (pick setter was still 3-5 feet away from them) and they both went under. This left the likes of DLee to stay with Sessions or Bell with a big gap towards the rim.

Nate is #13 in the league in steals per 48min.

Next on the Knicks is Al at #59 in the league.

#15? Devin Harris
#16? LeBron James

Dude's not a bad thief, but he would be a lot better if he had better defense behind him.

Its our team defense that's bad when I watch the games, but that's never going to change until we have better interior players.

our interior players are saying that things wont change until the knicks get better perimeter players.

Watch Hughes, Duhon and Nate closely over the next few and tell me which ones are caca and which one gives a pretty decent effort all the way.

I think Duhon is caca. I think Hughes has a slow first step. I think Nate is better in the press and is an overmatch on the opponent when man to man, but is terrible in the half-court set when handling screens-- which is compounded by the fact that he cannot switch off a screen because he would give up more than foot in height on the mismatch. He has to fight through the screens. Otherwise, I think his defense is fine. He probably would do better in a ball denial role rather than guarding the opposing PG straight up.... all that cornerback experience should make it easy for him to shadow other players.

Perhaps let him press the back court and slide off to shadow the opposing 2 once in the halfcourt set.

I don't see where Hughes has a slow first step.

And MDA was screaming at Nate at one point cause he wasn't pressing. That's the thing, Nate's concentration on D is horrid.

Wade abused Hughes time and again and I think it had a lot to do with his footwork. Hughes works wonders in the passing lanes and he has fast hands, but I think that a lot of quick SGs can get by him based on a slow first step. It may be his balance when reaching for a swipe.

As for Nate not pressing vs not being able to press are slightly diff in my opinion...

Dude, Wade and LeBron and anyone with a quick first step will abuse most any defender.

Nate has the ability to put pressure on the ball, but he does it sporadically. Watch last night's game again to see it.

I'll just quickly say that I agree that Nate does not play both sides of the ball as well as he should nor play with his head enough. He poses, he jaws at the opponent AND refs. He doesn't play a team concept and CONSTANTLY goes under screens. On this, martin is clearly correct.

IF he could ever rectify these flaws, I'd love to have him on the team. I love it when fights over a screen and gets the other team for a moving screen violation. But much as some feel David Lee is a finished product, I see Nate as a nearly finished product who will never play well enough in the team concept to be worth the aggravation.
