I am outraged by Lee's disrespectful actions, and I can't believe guys on this thread are trying to excuse or justify his atrocious behavior. Gallinari is a visitor to our fair land. He doesn't know the language or our culture. He has a bad back.

For David Lee to so callously mock his moves and make fun of his stiff legs is really beyond the realm of good manners. Frankly, I'm quite surprised, as David Lee normally seems like such a nice boy. I'm very disappointed to see him engage in this kind of shallow, jocular behavior.

I intend to write letters to Dolan, Walsh, D'Antoni and the NBA if necessary, demanding that David Lee be suspended for the remainder of the season, and made to publicly apologize to Gallinari, the Knicks organization, the fans, the NBA, and the proud people of Italy. I urge all of you who care for decency, the flag, mom, apple pie, Pizza, Lasagna, Ziti, Calzone, Manicotti, Rollatini, Ravioli and, of course, basketball to do the same.

not to mention stiffness in his legs... D Lee should be ashamed of himself for ragging on a handicapped person.

No, he mentioned the stiff legs. After all, that's really the central point in all of this, Gallinari's stiff legs.

In sports locker rooms and on the bench, guys make fun of each other's movements and habits all the time. It's one of the things that makes sports so fun. As long as Gallo is okay with it(which I'm sure he is) Lee can do if forever and ever.

Sure they do, on occasion. Yet it's only frequent with scrubs - like how Jerome James got clowned when he played.

Gallo isn't a scrub but the attention is frequent. Are our players going to clown around after every little thing he does? Just seems a bit excessive and silly to me.

On occasion? The locker room is one of the most brutal places on the planet, especially when you are winning. It spills onto the bench as well. That is by far the thing I miss most about organized sports. The happy post game recap. It's not a bunch of sissies sitting around being professional and congratulating each other and sharing hugs. It's a bunch of vulgar a-holes ragging on each other to the end of time. Not a moment in the game is missed. Scrubs on the bench make fun of stars, stars make fun of scrubs. That's what almost everyone misses most when they leave sports. This togetherness is what retired athletes talk about in their retirement speeches.

Even Big Snacks wasn't disrepected like this.

I find it ironic that a guy with no offensive game to speak of would completely ridicule and humiliate a rookie, no matter how stiff his moves and legs are.

I understand to some degree, but not often on winning teams do you see guys clowing each other frequently.. I have seen jeter do it to A-rod, once.. Winning teams know how to have fun without acting like like a bunch of A-holes.....

guys clown each other on the Yankees all the time... the Idiot Red Sux did the same... there's no correlation between clowning on each other & winning games... if anything it keeps things loose & helps guys relax & not press so much.

In Boston during the playoffs I was at a game between the C's and the Hawks. Leon Powe dunked on someone and Garnett was so excited he followed him all the way off the court yelling at him nose to nose, spitting on him basically etc. After that moment everytime somethig good happened for the Celtics, Brian Scalabrine and Sam Cassell would get up and yell at each other nose to nose making fun of Garnett. Garnett was just laughing. It's sports.

Ever hear teammates do an impersonation of Dikembe Mutombo's ridiculous accent? Just sports.

I equate it to trash talking. Many guys talk trash all game long on the court. There's a lot of flexing etc after dunks. Players don't get upset about it. Only the fans/media do. Just sports.

Honestly, I can't beleive I'm having this conversation. Some of you guys must live in a vanilla world.

i remember the Knicks clowned on Charlie Ward when he went off during a playoff game i think it was vs. the Heat or Pacers (can't remember)... they did it out of love for the guy, not out of disrespect... they were just happy to see him go off like that & the crowd started chanting Charlie's name after... i know Bip remembers that game.

I understand how guys rip on each other, but not all are the same, the garnett thing is funny, heck guys mess with ray lewis and his little game time ritual "are my dogs in the house".... But not often do you find guys mimicking exact moves, as if it was a joke.. like when gallo did that shamgod dribble, Q, duhon and Al I think were over there laughing as if it were some scrub on the court during garbage time.... maybe some of us are wrong and it is nothing.. I just find it odd how everytime he does something, it is the headliner of all jokes and laughs... It is worth discussing..

It goes without saying that it's worth discussing the supposed veteran leadership on this team, openly mocking and ridiculing the poor foreign stiff legged lottery pick's stiff offensive moves.

I still can't believe I'm here.

It is a joke. I think your interpretation is that it is not, but I would stake my life savings that Gallinari has no problem with it. He's an awkward looking player and it's going to happen all the time. Especially when you are a rookie trying to find your way. Getting ripped on is part of being accepted. Plus let's see, they made fun of him after he shook someone out of their shoes, then they made fun of him after he froze someone and stuck a J in his face. All good things, no?

I think you are reading too much into it.
