Hmmm... It is strange that Randolph's name is being mentioned in Amare and Bosh talks. Hmm, great trade value. I wonder what type of trade value the Knicks first round pick is worth around the league? Just a thought.

Great trade value or the fact that Nelson has made it widely known that he wants to trade him?

When you make him the centerpiece in acquiring a Amare or Bosh that's pretty good trade value. Like I said I wonder what trade value the Knicks have to keep those guys on the phone. I mean that is something we always talk about on this forum. Not just whether Knick players can play but how much trade value they have to be used to acquire big time players. This point was hammered during Isiah's tenture and talked about much in the hopes to acquire Garnett a couple of years ago.

Randolph should have stayed in college another year or two and would have benefitted from being on a team with a more structured system.

I have not watched him on a continual basis, but has his game changed at all since he joined GS? He seems to be a perpetual freelancer to me.

I don't see him as another Garnett, The comparisons to T. Prince have always made more sense to me. I am not sure how his frame will handle the added weight and muscle, and I don't think he will ever be the 1/1 defender Garnett is, although his off the ball shot blocking ability is impressive. If he does gain significant weight and muscle, by the way, how will that affect his game, which is now built on speed and quickness? As things stand now, though, I don't see why his offensive game can't surpass that of Garnett.

Garnett, by the way, has emerged as a great player not only because of his basketball and athletic skills, but because of his toughness, heart, and leadership skills, things which have been question marks for Randolph. As far as I know, these are not things he has ever been know for at any level of play.

The grass always seems greener on the other side. I would be cautious about dealing Lee for Randolph. Lee is a proven commodity at this point, and his game seems to improve every year he plays. What has Randolph proven at this point? We don't even know if Randolph can play in any kind of structured offensive or defensive system. If I even thought of such a trade, GS would have to include their # 1 or some young promising player.

Wow you really talk up Gallinari and talk down Randolph. If we look at samples of both players who shouldve been picked 6th? Tayshaun Prince--do you even watch the guy play?

Pharz, I have not been following what the trade rumors have been. Can you elaborate or point me to a link that has them.

Mike Breen pointed out his facial expressions. He always looks like he's about to cry. He plays intense and he plays very hard. What's not to like? The drive and desire to play well is there. He hustles on defense and up and down the floor. He has a passion and love for the game. At his age and experience level, why anyone would trade him is beyond me. He's gonna fill out naturally....he's gonna be good.

I think what Randolph would represent is a player who can play both ways and have an impact--sure he is raw but anyone can see what he is capable of. Were giving up way too many points

so is Golden state? what is your point?

The package I have heard that GS has offered is Biendrins and Randolph for Bosh or Amare. I forgot which one, it might be both. That is what GS has offered, I don't know if Toronto or Phoenix are actually entertaining those offers as Phaz has stated. I just know that GS offered that package.

Randolph has a lot and I mean a lot of work to do before he could become a 2nd tier Kevin Garnett let alone Garnett. Garnett is cappable of anchoring a defensive as well as create shots for others with his excellent passing ability and handle. KG was never a lights out scorer which is why having a guy like Pierce has really helped him while in Boston but KG creates shots for all the other guys.

I don't think it would be fair to Randolph to put that much expectation on him. Randolph still has to grow 2-3 inches and add about 20pds of muscle. We don't even know what type of work ethic he has or leadership skills or heart or bball IQ. There are still way to many questions he has to answer before he becomes the next Kevin Garnett. Maybe he just turns out to be a guy that can block shots, rebound, and put up good points with his athleticism and developing jump shot.

I read the links. Did see Randolph mentioned as a small piece of a trade. Certainly not a centerpiece. He does have talent, so he has some value but not to the extent where I think he is being considered a huge piece for Amare or Bosh.

That's why I asked what is Gallinari's trade value here. All players including rookies who never played a NBA game yet normally have one. We have discussed or seen discussions or rumors about several Knick trade value. What is Gallinari?

Briggs, here are some thoughts about what he looks like-

He looks like a really tall version of Trevor Ariza.

A keeper, yes. But a superstar? Way too early to tell. Just like its too early to tell if Gallo is a bust

He looks like a head case briggs. he looks like he wants to cry everytime he turns the ball over or gets dunked on.. Talent wise, he is a very mobile tall guy. he can put the ball on the floor and go.. I haven't seen him do much else. He will block a shot and then goaltend two others he has no business touching. Tough to say he is going to be a really good player, and you are talking superstar. He has potential. I like his talent..

That's a good example, franco. Can Gallinari get you Trevor Ariza straight up? I'm curious of his stock value.

It's trade time in the NBA and everyone has a trade value from Kobe & Lebron to guys making the minimum salary. You can undervalue or overvalue a player's stock but they have one. We are throwing all names out there and curious about some.

Honestly, whether we like Gallo or not- any other team would have to be scared of his back, and he has yet to show more than the Larry Bird statue in terms of on court abilities.

I don't think that is a terrible comparison. Just think what a taller longer Trevor Ariza could do.

What will Randolph become?

I think he has all NBA first team defensive type potential

A guy who can be a top 5 type rebounder

A guy who will be able to score the ball in a variety of ways in and out and exel in open court play

A guy who can start the break with a rebound like Odom

A guy who will block a lot of shots and be able to disrupt and guard any position

To me that's more potential than a guy who can score 23 points on 7 threes and take down 5 rebounds with poor defense 1nce every 5 games.

Funny, Anthony Randolph gets you 9 points, 10 rebounds in 14 minutes in a win against Portland last night while playing with probably two and 1/2 of the biggest ballhogs in the league, for a coach who doesn't like him. Yet we are concern that our 1st round pick isn't given enough minutes which is more than what Randolph is getting for a coach that loves him. At the end of the day, this leaves you scratching your head. What's the problem here.

The problem with Gallinari is that all he can do is shoot. he's a defensive liability and if his shot is not on like the other night---he won't be on the court.
