(Day 7) driving through Tennessee

Almost there... today I finally crossed the Mississippi & entered Memphis

A friend of mine suggested I stop by Beale Street & check out some of the blues bars out there, so I did & had lunch.

BB King's joint

random photo op

FedEx Forum across the street from Beale

home of the Memphis Grizzlies

Rock n Soul Museum next to FedEx Forum

live street blues band on Beale Street

Beale Street was pretty cool, but don't wander around Memphis outside this area, it's SERIOUSLY ghetto!... as I soon learned after stopping off to get gas just outside of downtown... pumped my gas & rushed out of there with a quickness! Reminded me of my Gary, Indiana experience on my 1st roadtrip out West, only instead of redneck crack addicts wandering around, this time there were just a lotta random black folk looking at me funny & a buncha drug dealers hanging out on the street corners... not the place you wanna be caught after dark... actually, not the place u wanna be caught, period.

Got back on I-40 & noticed these hawks were flying overhead scanning around for roadkill maybe? who knows... there were a lot of them though.

the rest of Tennessee pretty much looks like this... at least the roads are nice & smooth on the Interstate... lotsa troopers though, so don't speed around here.

Holed up in another boonie town place called Cookeville about 100 miles West of Knoxville, TN right now. I should be reaching my destination tomorrow... YESSS!!! Gonna take a few swigs of Nyquil & pass the fugg out now. G'nite.

i'm running this solo so not much partying on this trip... i spent 2 nights in Vegas losing all my money & just had fun exploring but i got sick on the trip & been pretty miserable since I left Arizona... Beale Street definitely has potential if you're with some cool peeps u know... some cool live band bars all along the street & it's blocked off to traffic so u can stumble around drunk after hours outside (just make sure you don't get mugged on the way to your hotel)

(Day 8) the final stretch...

Woke up with about 11 more hours to go... stocked up on some eats & decided I'd drive straight through only stopping for gas along the way. That's right, I'm gangsta.

Was good to finally get off I-40 for a change... I'd been on this ****in' road for the past 5 days...

... all the way from the Rockies to the Appalachians.

I had to stop off in some small town to get gas again... figures this is the place I end up at.

The drive through Virginia was very scenic though, I enjoyed the last stretch while the daylight lasted...

It's always interesting to see how people live in places I would otherwise never get a chance to see.

There were lots of rolling hills with farms & plantations built all around the Interstate on this stretch.

Well, that was a serious mission & a half but I'm finally here... hope u enjoyed the pics I took. For anyone who maybe tempted to take this drive themselves someday, take my advice - just fly to wherever the fug you wanna go & take pics when you get there. The Rockies in Colorado & the Grand Canyon in Arizona are definitely worth a visit. Everything else was pretty much boring & monotonous driving. Please do not attempt this drive on your own. Only professionally trained road ninjas such as myself should ever attempt this drive by themselves.

Congrats bro. Glad to see you made it to your final destination safely.

Ride the Metro in DC for awhile and take a break from driving.

What's that gauge under your GPS? Is that NOS?? What kind of ride is that? You going to be in the next Fast and the Furious?

that's my turbo boost gauge... SRT4 Neon comes w/that gauge stock w/a 2.4L 4 cylinder turbo... i used to be all into that whole Fast & the Furious import racing scene back in the day so i bought this car in '03 cuz i wanted something that was quick off the line that i wouldn't have to mod to get my kicks out of it & wouldn't break my bank account... this car has served me well over the years & can beat the crap outta some cars that are twice the price... i'm gonna graduate to a more luxury sports car the next time around but this has been by far the most reliable & fun car i've ever owned.

Pretty awesome man. Looks like you had a good time on that road trip. So your final destination is Virginia? Is that where you're going to be located at now for the foreseeable future?
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

I was getting a little inspired to do a little cross country trip of my own and check out this country but your last update squashed that. Especially if the Klan finds you, seeing how they won't like me much better.

Although those Caddy's in the ground is kinda cool.

Is anyone joining you on this trip?

I love my Garmin.

Be safe.
