D'Antoni gave a challenge to Eddy get into the shape that will not tire you out when running up and down the court. It doesn't matter what you weigh as long as you don't get tired running up and down the floor.

I remember when I was about 12 or 14 or so, there was this kid in our grade who was flat out fast- track star fast. And then there was a kid four years older, big like curry big. And they got to into a foot race- you know, an informal 40 yard type sprint.

none of the kids in my grade really thought the fat kid would win. but he did. wicked, unreal fast.

that said, curry can be quick, but the NBA is both a sprint at times, and a marathon.

VMart - have you ever run a series of 60 yard wind sprints and felt your chest burn and your heart race to the point you feel like you could almost faint?

Now, imagine feeling those things with a pre-existing heart condition weighing in at over 340 pounds.

Tell me, honestly, are you really going to push through that sharp pain in your chest - or stop to catch your breath?

To me, Marbury and Curry are becoming the same waste of talent and will forever be indistinguishable from each other in terms of usefulness to this team. From now on they will be jointly known as Marcurry

Hell yes I have experienced that. The worst feeling on earth. You feel all dizzy and want to puke. With that said Curry should never of let it get to this. He is an athlete and anyone knows that once you been out for a while its a gradual step back. Getting you stamina up first then picking up the pace.

This is going to be a long process back for Eddy. Some never recover as with the Kemp example.

What's sad is two lottery picks for a Center that's not even as good as Brook Lopez at the 10th pick.

He should get surgery to shrink his stomach for his health otherwise it is seriously concerning

VMart - perhaps Eddy can do something miraculous with his physique and stamina, but in the immortal words of James Brown in his memorable, underground hit Mind Power,

"what it is, is what it is."

Eddy should retire

I'm with Earl on this one. I worry about how this will end for Eddie. Going from future legend, to focal point, to bench player seems to be "weighing" on his psyche. He doesn't seem to be handling it well. Instead of fighting back he's receded. If anything I hope he loses weight for his health, because he is starting to worry me.

well from the stands or looking at your tv its easy to hate on the guy. but i will say that dj and i got to meet him and talk with him for a little while at a knicks season-ticket holder event at the palm, and the guy is immensely ( ) likable. really charming, personable guy. so separating out for a moment my feelings about him screwing up our franchise from my feelings about him as a human being, i would certainly hope as well he gets it together for his own sake.

I try to seperate the person from the player. I dont' hate any of these guys because I don't know any of these guys. What I do hate/like is what they do for my team on the floor. Eddie doesn't do much on the floor.

I wonder at what point you can disqualify a contract due to a player not being in shape?

I remember the Nets sent Chris Childs home when he came in fat and out of shape.

Is there any prior circumstance to this being?

Too bad he had such adverse affect to ephedra. That drug was good to Eddy.

Is killing him on the court get us under the cap?

Damn, I knew Walsh wanted to get under the cap by 2010, but if that is his plan, the man is ruthless.

He just needs a reinforced exercise ball to strengthen his core and he will get right back to form.

If he gains more weight, doing any kind of running is going to be a detriment to his heart, b/c it's going to have to pump way too much. He needs to start finding a way to lose weight for the sake of his own health. At 340 lbs, NBA bball is probably too much for his heart. Shut it down for the rest of the season, lose 40 lbs from now until Mayish, work his way back into NBA shape from there. There's no way this can go on, for his sake and for the Knicks sake. How can something like this happen?

PHILADELPHIA – Until Sean May weighs 260 pounds, he’s not playing basketball for the Charlotte Bobcats.

It’s that simple and that non-negotiable. May told the Observer Friday those were the orders he heard recently from Bobcats managing partner Michael Jordan and coach Larry Brown.

"MJ and Larry expressed to me that this is for my own good – for my longevity,’’ May said before last night’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers. "Coach Brown is really old-school and really cut-and-dry. This is tough love-type stuff. Now I understand it, and I just want to play."

May opened the season as the starting power forward, but hasn’t been activated for the last 14 games due to conditioning issues and tendonitis in his right knee. He says he currently weighs 270 pounds, down about 15 from what he weighed entering training camp in October.

"I haven’t been 260 since I left (North) Carolina. But if that’s what they want, that’s what they want. Coach Brown has been upset with me because I’ve plateaued for a while at 270.’’

May has been working with a Charlotte nutritionist on his diet and puts in about an hour of cardio-exercise with the team’s strength-and-conditioning coach before pre-game warm-ups.

Brown said pre-game that once May "achieves that (weight) goal, he'll be part of the rotation.''

Was it ever determined if Curry's heart condition was caused by diet pills? It hasn't come again since the trade.
