if you're gonna report on something, give the correct statement & context of that statement.

But wouldn't that defeat the original purpose of the OP- to take some shots at MDA? You really don't want a logical perspective to get in the way of a good rant, do you?

Reaching any conclusions about MDA's ability to turn the Knicks around after 30 games with a crew that clearly lacks the players to compete against the best teams is a waste of time at this point- almost as foolish as deciding that Gallinari is "el busto" without giving him a chance to play a season or two.

i wonder what Phoenix fans were saying about MDA's ability to coach his first season there?

Yeah, little did they know how many championships he would win for them.

Yup- he won the same number of championships as Jerry Sloan has. Why Utah hasn't run him out of town is just I guess stupidity.

Jerry Sloan made it to back to back Finals where he lost to Michael Jordan, Phil Jackson and their dynasty Bulls, who never lost to anybody in the playoffs. Stupid comparison.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

Jerry wasn't able to coach enough effort or fundamentals out of Malone and Stockton. Lazy bastards.

He knows it's difficult playing in New York, they just need to play through it...Is this guy coaching the home team or the away team...

if you're gonna report on something, give the correct statement & context of that statement.

he was asked about that time out in the 4th quarter the game before vs. Minny 9 seconds in where he lit into the team...

his exact statement was:

"We do have a little bit of a defeatist attitude every once in a while. You know, New York isn't the easiest place to play, but that's not an excuse. There's just a lot of little factors. I just think we have to have some kinda aura, and some kinda fight in us that no matter what happens on & off the court, no matter what happens to players, injuries, we have to band together and have a spirit that won't go away. Now that doesn't mean you'll win all the time obviously because we're not as good as some other teams, but that spirit should be untouchable and every once in a while we lose that, we kinda look down a little bit, or maybe it's just me, I don't know, but that's something we're trying to fight and try to regain."

I have no idea what you would find objectionable about anything he said.

Do me a favor, post the video of that interview because that is not exactly how I remembered it going...It wasn't in print so I could not provide the correct context or the exact quotes...The interview occured about 10 mins before 1 pm before game time...

I searched MSG website to no avail..They only had post game interviews...

Thanks...

Nobody is reaching any conclusions. This excuse that D'Antoni doesn't have the players to do anything is total BS. To win a championship or be a contender? Yeah, no ****. Nobody is expecting that or using that as the barometer to which to judge D'Antoni. But I don't care who is on the team right now, a good coach should be able to teach fundamentals on both sides of the ball, coach effort and develop players. Whether the team wins a single game over the next 2 years, if none of that happens at a satisfactory level, the next 2 seasons will have been a waste and D'Antoni should be replaced.

Seems like you've reached a lot of conclusions from your observations of the game of basketball.

i don't have the means to post the video but believe me, that is exactly word for word what he said... i watched that pre game interview a few times over so i could get that exactly right... he was in no way bashing the fact that NY was a tough place to play... he was saying that it was no excuse for this team not to come out every night w/the spirit & aura he wants to see from them every night... there's nothing wrong w/what he said there.
