David Lee is a product of the system. All the points he gets are off garbage baskets. He has no post up moves or outside shot and he plays no defense. Stats may be pretty but so were Zach's.

If he's a product of the system then why isn't Jared Jeffries having those numbers. Or Tim Thomas. Why isn't Q-Rich. Why is Chandler only averaging 5 rbds. And numbers don't reflect everything. D Lee has the heart of a champion, something Zach will NEVER have.

Better question, who would you rather have in his place, who would be on the books for 7-9 mil in 2010?

Tim Thomas could never rebound and Jeffries just sucks. Since when was Q-Brick expected to do anything but miss shots? Chandler plays SF, he's not going to get 10 rebounds per game. I don't doubt his great rebounding but that is ALL he has. Nothing else. Heart of a champion? How are we going to say such these things when this team has never even gotten to the playoffs?

The only way I pay Lee that kind of money is if we trade Eddy Curry by 2010. That's the only way. If we can trade Eddy, we can keep Lee. Who would I rather have? I don't know. I haven't thought of possible replacements for Lee. I read in today's Nwsday that Walsh turned down Kleiza for Lee. If the Nuggets were to take Eddy Curry and Lee for Kleiza, Steven Hunter, Chucky Atkins, and a 2nd rounder I would make that trade. Hunter and Atkins both will expire by 2010.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

His points are off pick and rolls and offensive rebounding. He is the only guy on the team that sets about 70 screens a game. Rolling to the basket, catching the ball and finishing is a skill. Have you seen what happens when Jeffies rolls to the basket? The ball usually dribbles of his foot or he doesnt finish.

I disagree. This year's draft does not look that good, and if we want to get players to sign with us, would they rather play with a guy who's DOING it in the NBA, or the promise of some 19 year old who might have a hurt back and not play. Ive watched the NBA long enough to know having a high draft pick over a player who is one of the best rebounders in the game who has heart and is a leader is just not how you build championships.

You are overrating what David Lee brings to the table. Step back and realize he is not THAT good. A lottery pick is much more valuable than Lee.

u don't think this draft is good? if u could trade him to a team right now that's contending to be a top 7 lottery slot this season u have a legitimate shot at a top notch prospect, & who knows, maybe even win the lottery & get a chance to take Blake Griffin... that kid's gonna be an absolute stud in the NBA... i wouldn't toss D Lee away for garbage but a top lottery pick is a big prize to get back in any trade & i would easily let D Lee go to get one, as much as i love the way he plays & how great of a teammate he is.

I am completely unimpressed with Blake Griffen. I've watched him play a few games and I don't see star written on him. And what is with this concept of a "chance" at the 1st pick. We had a great "chance" to get the #1 last year, and that worked out well.

And to answer GKFv2, I think you are way underrating David Lee. How many guys "make" it each draft. How many lottery picks are busts. It's the grass is greener condition. 14 pts, 10 rbds, a leader. All for a 19 year old kid who MIGHT put up those numbers someday. MAYBE.

u've watched him play & u came away unimpressed? wow, dude... that kid's been putting up monster numbers all year long & has led his team to an undefeated season & a #5 overall ranking in the polls so far... how much better do u want him to play?

Chicago has a "great chance" at the #1 seed last year too & they ended up w/Derrick Rose.

Stop calling Lee a leader. What has he done to show you he is a leader? Al Harrington may be a leader. Lee is just a good role player who plays his role. He's not a leader.

TMS: And 13 teams had a chance and didn't get it. I don't see Griffen being all that good. I bet he will be lucky to get 14 pts and 10 rbds in the NBA. Mark my words. THis draft coming up is not that good.

GKF: In his interviews, when I see him talk to players on the court and through his actions. Al Harrington, as well as he's playing, has shown to be selfish in Indiana, Atlanta and Golden State and has burned bridges. I still like him, but David Lee is a natural born leader who doesnt bitch and complain he doesn't get touches, and works his ass off to better his team. He has all the intangibles you want in a player, and gets the stats along with it.

There are two positions we need to fill - center and shooting guard. I'd trade Lee for a quality young player at either position. After watching the Sacramento game, Jason Thompson comes to mind. If we offer Lee for a player like that and the other team refuses, we should look somewhere else.
The next trade: can we make an educated guess?
