You see nobody wants to talk about Al Harrington but will debate to their blue about anything negative.....

Al Harrington is a flatout gift from the basketball gods! I don't wanna jinx him either but yo he is kicking some serious ass and he's down for the uni!

I doubted him big time....I simply didn't think he was this good. I thought he was gonna be like Chandler just more experienced. I compare my first thoughts to how he played in Atlanta. He was lousy in atlanta....he scored 18pts a game but he wasnt very efficient or team oriented....thats why they got rid of him. In Golden State, he just didn't fit and Don Nelson let that be known.

All of a sudden he's in Ny and this freaking guy looks like....I can't even think of a player...he's just so smooth.

I already manned up by starting this thread. I didn't think he was bad, per say, but I thought he was a chucker, didn't play enough inside and wouldn't make that much of a difference (though I thought the trade, as a whole, would bring us more shooters and more balance in our linuep). But he has definitely turned me around with his game...the way he takes it to the basket is awesome. 6'9 245 guy who can drive to the basket starting out at the 3pt line. I'm a big fan right now. He looks like a legit no.1 scorer, and I don't care how much you liked Al before this deal, I don't know too many people who thought he could be that.

he's definitely grown accustomed to this team & this offense a lot faster than i ever dared to dream he would when we made that trade... i thought he'd take a few months to get in tune w/the rest of these guys but it looks like he's been w/them all through training camp the way he's playing now.

i can't really think of any ex-Knicks to compare him w/either at this point... he's sorta like a cross between Lamar Odom & Hedo Turkoglu at their peaks maybe?

Weird thing about Al is he's gone to the line a bunch in the last 2 games, but the 4 games before that (all great shooting nights for Al), he didn't go to the line at all. As long as he keeps being agressive with that drive he will start to get calls. He his hitting an unusually high percentage right now consider that before this year he was kind of a crap FT shooter.

EnySpree - great clip

Al Harrington is one of those rare marriages in sports when an athlete and franchise were made for each other. Like magic, the desperation (over who would pick up the scoring slack left by Randolph and Crawford), has disappeared.

In the no-discipline environment of the Atlanta Hawks, Al was just one of seven forwards fighting for attention. In New York, the minutes and shots are wide open. His Christmas gift came early this year.

It's sad that I keep waiting for the stretch where Al plays like garbage. 7 years has conditioned me to think this way. So far though, this guy has been unbelievable. He's playing like a star. He has also reached that magical age of 28 where athletes supposedly hit their prime. Who knows.

Sad

bippity - if Harrington has a bad game is that a reason for you to feel better so:

A. your comfort level with his game can be reinforced?

or

B. that you can be proven "right" about your assessment of him?

Al loves the Knicks and love will do that to you. We still need a shooter for his off nights though.
Nixluva is posting triangle screen grabs, even when nobody asks - Fishmike. LOL So are we going to reference that thread like the bible now? "The thread of Wroten Page 14 post 9" - EnySpree

Earl: You and I are on the same page about Al so you can relax. I agree with everything you've said on the subject. My point is not that Al is going to be a bad player. I don't need to be proven right or wrong about him because I have never made an assessment on Al on this board besides how he's played in his last 10 or so games and it's all been good. My point is that years of Knicks torture has taught me to expect something horrible to happen no matter how good things look. I think this is a mindset that many Knicks fans have, I'm just one of the few to admit it. This of course is the first step towards recovery. I love Al, so you can relax you big baby.

On a side note: Haven't you and I agreed enough over the last few weeks to know that you and I are on the same page on this team regarding everyone accept for Tim Thomas? Or do you still not read who is writing what?

bippity - your years of Knicks torture should have made you stronger. You want torture? Try being a Mets fan.

Of course things can go wrong. With the economy failing, advertisers slashing marketing budgets and the next NBA collective bargaining agreement right around the corner, I would not be shocked to see a major professional league implode (see Arena footoball) before Lebron or Duane can pack their designer luggage for NYC.

I respect your writing. I'm just keeping you honest.

Dude, I'm a Seahawks and Mariner fan on the side. I dont' want to hear any whining from Met's fans. I've had a combined 84 seasons of professional sports fanship. In those 84 seasons I have experienced 2 NBa finals and one superbowl appearance. The rest has been one disappointment after another, after another, after another.

Dy-No-Mite!

You'll never, ever, hear me whine about the Mets, (welcome Francisco and JJ)but the Seahawks and Mariners?

what are you, a masochist?

Look at the updated (eVil is da man) masthead and tell me if these guys, collectively, don't put a proud smile on your face. This group has fought thorugh radical change, rumors, distractions and injuries to earn nearly a .500 record.

I ain't mad at 'em.

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Earl: Mike laid down the law. The tough one's responded by playing harder. The rest are on the injured list or sitting at home. We don't win every game, but it's fun to watch. The last few games we have come out shooting like garbage. The past few seasons we would have quit and rolled over like dogs. This team is not phased by it and simply plays harder. It's fun to watch. This entire season I have had nothing to complain about. It's been very good.

I have daydreams of one day switching teams and rooting for the Yankees or the Pats or the Giants and having multiple championships, but you and I both know that once you love a team you really can't change. It's in your blood. Seasons number 85, 86, and 87 are upon me.

You're also a Uconn man though, and I'm willing to bet that you're either a Devils, Red Wings or a Canadians fan. Man up and stop whining.
